WWI FIRST GREAT WORLD WAR DOCUMENT FOCH MARCHAL OF FRANCE LETTER FRENCH LETTER
The Great War World War I( WWI) was a global war centered in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. It was predominantly called the World War or the Great War from its occurrence until the start of World War II in 1939. And the First World War or World War I thereafter. It involved all the world's great powers. Which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies(based on the Triple Entente of the United Kingdom, France and Russia) and the Central Powers(originally centered around the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy; but, as Austria–Hungary had taken the offensive against the agreement, Italy did not enter into the war) These alliances both reorganized(Italy fought for the Allies) and expanded as more nations entered the war. Ultimately more than 70 million military personnel. ... moreIncluding 60 million Europeans, were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history. On 28 July. In the East, the Russian army successfully fought against the Austro-Hungarian forces but was forced back from East Prussia and Poland by the German army. Additional fronts opened after the Ottoman Empire joined the war in 1914, Italy and Bulgaria in 1915 and Romania in 1916. The Russian Empire collapsed in March 1917, and Russia left the war after the October Revolution later that year. After a 1918 German offensive along the western front, the Allies drove back the German armies in a series of successful offensives and United States forces began entering the trenches. Germany, which had its own trouble with revolutionaries at this point, agreed to a cease-fire on 11 November 1918, later known as Armistice Day. The war had ended in victory for the A

Authentic French Revolution document dating to August the 16th, 1792. It is a law decree regarding the restriction of the use of copper or bronze to strike coinage. The piece is an original copy of the original signed law and would have been sent out to various regions and municipalities. The law is signed “Roland”, so the temporal context of the law is quite interesting. Roland was Jean-Marie Roland, de la Platiere(1734-1793) husband of Madame Roland, whose ideas were instrumental to the start of the French ... moreRevolution. Roland was a Girondinist. When the Girondins came into power, he was appointed Minister of the Interior on March the 23rd, 1792, but was dismissed from his position after challenging a veto by King Louis XVI, who despite the Revolution was still permitted to function as a sovereign. Roland’s dismissal resulted in an insurrection that saw Roland re-instated as Minister of the Interior on August the 10th and King Louis arrested on August the 13th. So this law would have been one of the first that was not subject to veto by the King. The document is four pages long and measures 7 1/4” by 9 1/4” closed. It has some brown patina and marking as well as minor creasing, but this is to be expected of a piece that is 220 years old. I’ve provided photos of the paper with a strong light behind so that you can see that it is very old laid paper. This is a very interesting historical document.sold by auction with a very low starting price and no reserve.and please be sure to view my other auctions for more interesting vintage and antique items, all collected from a number of good quality local estates, including a decree from the French Provisional Government after the fa

Authentic Napoleonic era document dating to April the 2nd, 1814. It is an act of law known as the “Acte de decheance de l’Empereur”(Emperor’s Demise Act) Following the defeat of the French Grand Army in Russia, a coalition of countries sought to depose Napoleon for once and for all. Despite a series of victories, the French army was so weakened by its Russian defeat, that the allies were able to march on Paris. The Senat Conservateur, which was a Governmental body under the Constitution of France, elected Tallyrand ... moreas chief of a five member provisional government on April the 1st, 1814- he and the president of the Senate, Barthelemy, proposed a motion to depose Napoleon and replace him with a Bourbon king, Louis XVIII. Napoleon abdicated on April the 11th and was exiled to Elba. Of course, Napoleon returned on February the 26th, 1815 for 100 days, before his final defeat at Waterloo. This piece is an original copy of the original signed law and would have been sent out to various regions and municipalities for distribution. The law is “signed” by the President of the Senate “Barthelemy”, and also by the five members of the provisional government- the prince de Benevent, Francois de Montesquiou, Dalberg, Beurnonville and Jaucourt. The act also addresses soldiers of the French army, stating that they are no longer soldiers. It also discusses an address that Emperor Alexander of Russia had given to the Senate. The document is four pages long and measures 10 1/2” by 8 3/8” closed. It has some brown patina, perhaps a moisture stain and marking as well as some creasing and paper perforation/holes, but this is to be expected of a piece that is almost 200 years old. Later, in 1762, like his father John(a judge, representative to the Massachusetts Bay General Court, and member of the Council of Massachusetts) he was elected to the Council. Otis expected to be appointed Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, but the position went to Thomas Hutchinson instead, creating enmity between the Otis and Hutchinson families. He served on many committees of the legislature during the period from 1760-1775. Which reported some of the most remarkable of those sincere and masterly state papers which were produced during the period preceding the epoch of the American Revolution. Louis XIV Document. Signature. Autograph. Authentic. Rare Sun King. French
Louis XIV Document. Parchment. Pencil marks. Louis XIV(5 September 1638– 1 September 1715) Known as Louis the Great(French: Louis le Grand" or the Sun King(French: le Roi-Soleil) was a Bourbon monarch who ruled as King of France and Navarre. He holds the distinction of being the longest-reigning monarch in European history, reigning for 72 years and 101 days. Louis began his personal rule of France in 1661 after the death of his chief minister, the Italian Cardinal Mazarin. An adherent of the theory of the divine right of kings, which advocates the divine origin and lack of temporal restraint of monarchical rule, Louis continued his predecessors' work of creating a centralized state governed from the capital. He sought to eliminate the remnants of feudalism persisting in parts of France and, by compelling the noble elite to inhabit ... morehis lavish Palace of Versailles, succeeded in pacifying the aristocracy, many members of which had participated in the Fronde rebellion during Louis' minority. By these means he consolidated a system of absolute monarchical rule in France that endured until the French Revolution. During Louis's reign France was the leading European power and fought three major wars: the Franco-Dutch War, the War of the League of Augsburg, and the War of the Spanish Succession—and two minor conflicts—the War of Devolution and the War of the Reunions. Louis encouraged and benefited from the work of prominent political, military and cultural figures such as Mazarin, Colbert, Turenne and Vauban, as well as Molière, Racine, Boileau, La Fontaine, Lully, Le Brun, Rigaud, Le Vau, Mansart, Charles and Claude Perrault, and Le Nôtre. Upon his death just days before his seventy-seventh birthday, Louis was succeeded by his five-year-old. The document is approximately 20 x 10 inches. The pencil notation states it was signed in 1652.
