RARE ILLUMINATED KORAN MANUSCRIPT OTTOMAN: This is a scarce piece of history at your hands. This Koran manuscript belongs to early Ottoman's Era; which means more than 300 years old. It is a handwritten book with fantastic illumination of the first two Surats(Alfatiha& Albakara) The manuscript is unbound. And is undated as all similar manuscripts of Mamluk’s and early Ottoman’s eras. The leaves are very delicate and fragile; and can be easily broken if not handled appropriately. It is a complete hand written book except the last leaf which was lost and replaced by a new one 40 years ago as told by the previous owner. The cover you see is not the original as I made it by myself to protect the fragile leaves. The total number of leaves is 381 with complete 762 pages. Foxing is evident almost in all leaves and damage on the borders as ... morewell. There are worm holes on the borders and near the spine. The headings of Surats are written with red ink and the verses in black. It measures 8.5" x 4.7" x 1.5" No need for further description; you get exactly what you see on the scans. Medium-sized 17th-Century Ottoman Koran. Dimensions: 24 cm x 17 cm. Date: Estimated approximately 1000 Hijri. Binding: Recent leather binding in traditional style. The koran is complete. The paper used is strong and rather thick(thickness of the koran is just over 6 cm) There is. However, waterstaining mostly affecting the upper half of the book. In about half of the book, the waterstain is light and not very notceable. In the other half, it is brown to light brown and is conspicuous. The first 20 leaves at the beginning of the book have marginal repairs. There are occasional repairs throughout the book but especially in the last 20 or so leaves. In spite of these defects, the book is a good example of a 17th-century Ottoman koran, with very good calligraphy and gold decoration. Overall condition: 5 out of 10. 10th Century Koran Manuscript Fragment on Vellum. A rare Koran manuscript fragment written on vellum in Andalusian script. Famous for its handsome, elegant, and austere characters. The fragment measures approximately 15.8 x 11.4 cm and consists of 7 lines of text per page, written in dark khaki ink on vellum, with diacritical marks in green and blue. The verses are separated in large circles in gold and other colors. The first page begins with the gold heading of Chapter 22. Al-Hajj, which is elaborate but damaged. It contains verses 1-2 and part of verse 3. The second page contains part of verse 5 of the same chapter. Some fading but still a good example. Such fragments are extremely rare.
