The date of printing does not appear anywhere else in the book, so it is presumed this Bible was printed on or prior to 1910. The type for this edition was set up at the University Press, Oxford(England) and it was printed at its American Branch, by Eaton& Mains, New York, USA. The heading on the next page to the title page states, TO THE MOST HIGH AND MIGHTY PRINCE JAMES. BY THE GRACE OF GOD. KING OF GREAT BRITAIN. FRANCE, AND IRELAND, DEFENDER OF THE FAITH, c. The Translators of the Bible wish Grace. Mercy, and Peace, through JESUS CHRIST our Lord. Printed on the flyleaf at the back cover are the numerals. 02327" I don't know what this signifies. The ... morespine of this small Bible. Whose page size is 3-1/2" x 5-3/4" is 1-1/2" thick. The black leather binding overhangs the pages by 1/2" It is, of course, worn at the corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. There is one torn page in Judges 6, pgs. 283-284, visible in one of the photos. Other than this one torn page, and minor foxing on some of the pages, this Bible is in relatively good condition. Other than the age of this Bible. Some of the features include 16 pages, printed on both sides, with 32 beautiful full-page color illustrations of biblical scenes that are scattered throughout the book. The Apocrypha has been removed apparently when it was rebound. The binding is intact but very close to coming apart(see photo) I store this horizontally to assure it stays together. The front title page does appear to have fallen off and placed back inside via pasting over a page with some handwriting visible on the back of that page. Antique Bible License Edinburgh, 23rd January1856 King James Version
This beautiful velvet and metal antique bible measures approximately 5 7/8" x 3 5/8" and is 1 1/4" deep. Originally. The velvet covers might have been grey. The det ailed metal work on the corners and along the edges is gold in color which is probably brass. The medallion in the center of the front cover is engraved Holy Bible. The front cover has separated from the book. I am not knowledgable about antique books. However, the pages appear to me to show signs of age but not signs of the expected use of a book this age. Here's a Family Bible dated 1825. It does include the Apocrypha. LARGE. measures 11" tall. 9" wide and 4" thick. Very good condition for being 188 years old. Covers are completely attached to spine, opens and closes easily. There is foxing throughout and some wrinkling due to damp conditions. I found 2 tears when inspecting this piece(lower part of New Testament title page and a page in old testament, 6th and last pictures) they do not hinder the readings. Cambridge: Printed by John Hayes. Printer to the Universitie, 1670. This antique 17th century Cambridge imprinted English bible is a rare find indeed. Fitted with the original leather boards. The spine was at some time rebacked with black leather, probably in the 1800s. Easy to read typography throughout, highlighted by red rule throughout, a striking engraved title page, as well as woodcut initials. Includes the Apocrypha. Also, following the New Testament, it includes the Whole Book of Psalms Collected into English meter, by Thomas Sternhold and John Hopkins, which again, if present in an early Bible is often missing pages at the end, but ... moreis complete in this Bible. Psalms end with a two-page list of first lines of the Psalms. Unmarked and mostly clean within; a few leaves with some extra soiling and repair. A few scattered stains, otherwise good shape. Main title and title pages for the New Testament and Psalms are all present and are all dated 1670. Again. Some pages at the front and back have been repaired with tissue; a few others with more substantial paper but nothing too scarring. Missing Genesis 2:16-23:7; otherwise appears complete. Pages have been trimmed. The text block is intact throughout but the headers and marginal notes are trimmed significantly through much of the book. As shown in pictures. Thanks for looking! I wish I had more concrete info on the date of printing. But alas, all but a corner of the title page is torn out. The actual verse section appears to be intact, from Genesis to Revelation. There is one loose page in the front, but it's not certain whether this loose page is actually part of this Bible as the chapters are Roman numerals and in the book they're Arabic numerals. The Bible clearly shows its age. There are holes in the cover at the spine. The cover's wings are frayed and tearing away. The front pages that remain have foxing. Given the condition of the handwritten ink I conclude it to be early to mid 1800s but cannot substantiate this. Due to the rudimentary handwriting inside the covers I can conclude this was a woman's or a child's Bible. With his religion being Catholic while most of England was Protestant. This led to much unease and when James produced a Catholic heir. The tension exploded. Leading nobles called on James, Protestant son-in-law. William of Orange to invade. Which he did. James fled England and was replaced by his Protestant daughter. Mary and her husband, William III in 1688. William and Mary. Coregents. Signed the English Bill of Rights in 1689 which put limits on the power of the crown. Set out rights of Parliament with rules for freedom of speech, and reestablished the liberty of protestants to have arms for their defense within the rule of the law. Under James II Protestants were disarmed while Catholics could bear arms. Along with the English Bill of Rights. The Church of England took a constitutional position, granting religious and civil rights to other religions and Christians of different faiths or no faith at all.

Up for sale is a huge 1660 King James elephant folio Bible leaf. This leaf is ruled in red. Meaning it's wealthy owners were able to afford a scribe to outline each page in red ink throughout their Bible By hand. Other than a few tears and a crease, this page is in excellent condition and the red ink is still very vibrant. Antique Bible (King James and Revised Version) & pedestal in wonderful condition
This is a very good example of a pictorial Bible containing the King James(1611 edition) as well as the Revised(1885 edition) versions of the Old and New Testaments. It is tooled leather bound with gold leaf edged pages and a hinged silver clasp. It measures 12.5 inches long. 10 inches wide and is 4 inches thick. It weighs nearly 12 lbs. There is an ornate folding wooden pedestal for display purposes. As the pictures show, there is some slight wear. The Bible is a"parallel- column edition" where the King James and Revised versions of the Old and New Testaments are parallel to each other on every page. It contains a comprehensive dictionary of the Bible as well as additional related historical facts. The Bible alone is over 1000 pages plus there are several hundred additional pages that complement the tome. All pages are untorn and ... moreintact. AMERICAN ANTIQUE 1881 ILLUSTRATED NEW TESTAMENT King James Version BIBLE
This is an amazing find in great condition. More than 130 years old this NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE has OVER 300 ENGRAVINGS and MAPS. The pages appear to be in pristine condition. I do not see any dog eared. Torn or written in pages. THE BINDING IS NICE and TIGHT. Again. The interior is in excellent shape. I think the exterior is great also(especially when you consider the age) but you will see in the pictures there is about a 1 1/2" tear at the top of the spine, this is a straight, clean tear. The rest of the marks are what I would call surface damage. The leather on the outside edges are now a light brown from wear but I think it just enhances its beauty. Don't overlook the eye in the top of the triangle on the front cover it is very much like the eye on the back of the $1 bill. The Bible measures 10 1/4" high x 7 1/8" wide ... morex 2 1/2" deep. The exterior writing is all in Gold Gilt. It was Published by O.A. BROWNING and COMPANY. TOLEDO, OHIO. I am not an expert but I try to describe my items the best way I see them.
