It is one of the HARDER TO FIND- SMALL SIZE STATE BOND. The 1870s ... moreBOND from LOUISIANA. In CHOICE UNCIRCULATED condition in my opinion. But you can judge for yourself to make the final decision with the photos above, which you can enlarge. It has the of small portrait of a young child. This was a marketing idea to urge people in Louisiana to invest for their children's future during the post Civil War times when times were both tough and uncertain. It was issued in 1874 while U.S. Grant was the President. After investing an intial payment you could collect 7 1/2 Cents each year as interest and in 1886 you could collect $5. Much like modern US Savings Bonds today. The note is crisp and very clean and a good looking little note. With 4 full corners and it has good color contrast with no missing pieces. There are signs of no use. It has no folds, no edge wear, and it has no tears, or missing pieces, but what it does have edges that were cut by hand. This bond has 4 remaining coupons and no redemption holes. Someone took a near perfect uncirculated bond put it away, now its back! T his is a super nice example of an old monetary instrument especially for a post Civil War item which are often very worn out when they are found. Nice for display. The State Treasurer. E.A. Burke, whose stamped signature appears on the bond stole more than $1,500,000.00 from the state during his 10 year tenure. He was found out and fled the state to Europe and later Honduras. This was used during the American Civil War, but there are no marks to verify this. This works. And has a clear viewable image. ITEM MEASUREMENTS This item measures about 29 1/2" long extended. By 2" wide, and when stored, it is 9 3/4" long. Above: The internal eyepiece cover is missing. Above& below. The mottled area, and the area forward of it were originally covered with leather. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This is in good condition. But is missing the leather and internal brass eyepiece cover. ITEM WEIGHT This weighs about 1 1/2 lbs before packing. This is a great pair of Turn-Pin Temple Spectacles Double D Lens- light blue in color(these are not dark cobalt blue) K-nose Great condition- no cracks in lenses. All hinges working properly. frames are nicely blued measure 4" across from lens end to end when closed- another 3/8" out to the hinge on each side. Lenses are approx. 1 1/4" x 1" each The case opens by pulling apart in the middle Case reads"M. C. Unserud. Odense" who I believe was actually a German Watch/Clock maker or jeweler This could date these to the early 1800's. vintage antiques 2 Civil War era Chairs wood fatima & fabric reupholstered
Chairs start at $550 for the pair. These two chairs were given to me by my Mother-in-law she was an antique dealer. She told me they were Civil War Era. Upholstery of material has been recovered. The rest of seat has not been touched to my knowledge. The finish has a nice fatima look. Has goldish highlights and one has a note with name of a former owner on it. Local pickup only- by Columbus. Sword Axe Tomahawk Antiques Post Revolutionary Pre Civil War Indian Artifacts
Pictured are items I inherited. My dad was an avid collector of Revolutionary War. Civil War, early American artifacts, and Indian artifacts. I am not a collector and I have very limited knowledge on these items and no books to authenticate anything with. Above from what my dad has told me is that this is a sword possibly from between the periods of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. The inscription on the blade reads"MDO ARTA FABA DE TOLEDO 1810" The"DO" is superscript to the"M" The"A" is superscript to the"ART" and has an underscore beneath it. The"A" is superscript to the"FAB" and has an underscore beneath it. The tomahawk has a tag from when my dad authenticated it. No distinct markings are on the axe head. The tag reads"Late 1700's to early 1800's period. ... moreIndian Trade Tomahawk. Maybe replaced handle with worm hole. Authentic Fighting Hawk" Pictures show the worm hole referenced in the tag. The large stone is a hand carved axe head. I never received a handle for it. No distinct markings exist. None of the items pictured have ever been cleaned or attempted to be restored. All original aging condition. Again. I claim to have know expert knowledge on any of these items and I simply have described these items as they exist in the pictures without adding any additional speculation as to what these items could be. My description is based off of my memories of discussing these items with my dad.
