Ultra Rare Jason Becker Handwritten Lessons & Tabs
Back in the late 1980s my friend Chris was lucky enough to correspond with guitar legend Jason Becker. While Jason was still playing in Cacophony with Marty Friedman. This was also long before Jason's tragic diagnosis with Lou Gehrig's disease. Jason was/is such a great guy. He took the time to write out some incredibly detailed guitar lessons/licks for my friend, including tabs of solos from the Cacophony albums and his amazing solo record, Perpetual Burn. He sent my friend a total of 19 pages of wicked handwritten shred tactics. And they're as astounding to look at today as ever. There's probably only a handful of people who've ever even seen these, until now. I'm offering printed copies of all 19 pages of the lessons. There's a mix of tabs. Commentary by Jason, and personal notes to my friend. It's really ... morean amazing collection of correspondence from an absolutely brilliant artist. You may never see anything like this again, so it's an absolute must for fans and all aspiring shredders.

It is a letter written from St Helena Island on January 23 rd. 1865. It was written from a freed slave named Paris Simmons and written to Catherine Porter Noyes who went to South Carolina to teach the former slaves. Noyes mentions Paris many times in her letters and this was written while Noyes was back home in Massachusetts. It is very scarce to find items written by former slaves and even harder to find letters written while the war was still going on. It says, My dear friend I take the pleasure to write you these few line to you in hope to find you and all the family well. Miss Mary the grass is not in season yet. Soon is the grass spring up. BOSTON WHARF MERCHANT HANDWRITTEN LEDGER Maritime/Nautical/Schooner ORIG 1700s
FANTASTIC. ORIGINAL 18TH CENTURY LEDGER OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS MERCHANT GEORGE MAKEPEACE. This terrific early account book spans from 1794-1796 and contains some 360 pages of manuscript entries. Detailed volume chronicles the business activities of noted Boston merchant George Makepeace(1735-1819) Who operated from a location at 18 Long Wharf in Boston[see: 1800 Boston City Directory] Built between 1710-1721 and extending nearly half a mile into the harbor, Long Wharf stretched considerably farther than other wharves into deep water thus allowing larger ships to tie up and do business directly with the many merchants that lined it. Boston's Long Wharf has been called"the busiest pier in the busiest port in America during early colonial times. Makepeace's waterfront location lent itself heavily to the maritime trade. Consequently. ... moreVolume contains scores of entries related to the outfitting of sea-going vessels such as the brigs Commerce, Dispatch, and Polly, schooners Olive, Betsey, Charlotte, Pomona, and William, and sloops Lucy, Hannah, Hannah's Capture, and Christiana. Many"voyage" entries suggest at least some of these vessels were setting sail for distant ports. Sea captains referenced here include Baker, Davis, Harding, Woodbury, Dunham, Snow, Clapp, and Perreaux. A myriad of commodities can also be found throughout including Whale Oil. Sperm Candles, Rigging, Sea Weed, Salmon, Smoked Herring, Cod Fish, Coffee, Chocolate, Rum, Tobacco, Molasses, Sugar, Pickles, Cordage, Cotton, Beef, Nails, Wood, Sundries, etc. Among various locations gleaned from ledger include Andover, Hingham, Lynn, Watertown, Charlestown, Braintree, Falmouth, Norton, and Weymouth, Massachusetts, Hartford, Philadelphia, Newport, and Providence, Rhode Island. Ladders and buckets were financed through the collection of fines for dirty chimneys and a fire watch was established consisting of eight wardens which were drawn from the male population. An organization known as the"prowlers" but given the nickname"the rattle watch" patrolled the streets with buckets, ladders and hooks from nine in the evening until dawn looking for fires. Leather shoe buckets, 250 in all, were manufactured by local Dutch shoemakers in 1658, and these"bucket brigades" are regarded as the beginning of the New York Fire Department. In 1664 New Amsterdam became a British settlement and was renamed New York. The first New York fire brigade entered service in 1731 equipped with two hand-drawn pumpers which had been transported from London. England. 5 Handwritten Diaries James Jack of Andes Delaware County New York 1876-1905
If you’ve already read these first two paragraphs go to the red highlighted paragraph as that is where my description begins) EBay is now telling their sellers that they cannot use any outside links that have anything to do with selling(and believe me it’s hard to find ones that don’t) So if you’ve followed my listings you know I use a lot of web links because they help to describe the people. Places and events that these antique diaries talk about. With that said I think my descriptions are going to be quiet different as I have to be very selective on which web links to put in; if any. I need to say this too and that is Ebay is getting so tight, controlling and expensive and they are pushing me into finding a different way of selling my items. Sorry if I sound frustrated. Secondly and more important I want to say that on a weekly basis I ... moreget questions from bidders asking if I split up family lots of diaries and sell them separately. So I thought I’d post something to ease everyone’s mind before they buy. I am very passionate about diary collecting and history and I can’t even imagine buying a diary lot from one particular family and then splitting them up and selling each separately. Its heart wrenching when I see this happening and you have my promise that if I have more then one diary. No matter how many I have, I will always sell family lots together in one auction. But I think it’s a good question you should always ask your sellers just in case you want to try and keep a lot together. And with that said… I finally want to mention that it is illegal by EBay’s rules to copy all or any part of the description here for purposes of selling elsewhere. Their policy is listed here; http:pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html I have no problem at all with anyone purchasing my item and reselling it. However my description that I’ve worked hours on is not allowed to be copied by anyone for the above purposes. The main reason I write this is because I was contacted about a listing where someone had copied
1927 HANDWRITTEN DIARY Cape Cod Brookline Boston Norfolk Massachusetts History
1927 HANDWRITTEN DIARY- I am always intrigued by diaries that were written by the wealthy, especially those of teenage young women as their entries are so captivating. This is one of those amazing diaries! This INCREDIBLE SPECTACULAR 86 YEAR OLD handwritten antique diary/ journal/ manuscript book was written by a young 14 year old woman named MILDRED BELL and she lived in BROOKLINE. NORFOLK COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS. Mildred was the daughter of Henry C. Anna F Bell, and she had an older brother named Harry. Her father was wealthy and according to census records. He sold real estate. Mildred was a very popular girl who had a lot of friends. She attended Brookline High School. And in the summer. She and her mother went to live at their summer home at"The Cape" Her father would come down to see them from time to time, but most of the summer ... moreshe was able to just hang out and have oodles of fun with her many friends. This diary is such a fun read! Some of the locations she mentions in her entries are: Newton ~ Newtonville ~ Beaconsfield ~ Alston ~ Plymouth ~ Sandwich ~ Cambridge ~ Lynn ~ Westboro ~ Riverside ~ Eastham ~ Orleans ~ Everett ~ Provinctown ~ Dedham ~ Brookline ~ Nausel ~ and there are many others! This is a VERY RARE One-Of-A-Kind Window Into Massachusetts& American History! Such an amazing diary! It's so interesting to read about the life of this young teenager, and her entries make the reader wish they were her friend because she had so much fun! She was a typical girl who worried about her grades in school, and she went to parties. Dances, and she loved to ice-skate! But when school let out for the summer, she and her mother packed their things and went to Cape Cod. and that's when Mildred really let loose! She would hang out with her many friends at the beach nearly every day, and have tons of fun! She went swimming. Learned to drive a car, and they would pack up to 9 in the car and go out cruising on the back roads just being crazy& silly. And have fun! And th

1953 HANDWRITTEN DIARY w/ PHOTOGRAPH ~ Houston, Harris County, Texas TX History
1953- 1954 HANDWRITTEN DIARY- If you like diaries that will take you back in time, those that were written by fun-loving carefree high school gals with detailed entries and heartfelt emotions. That include a photograph of the author, then this is the diary for you! This AMAZING 60 YEAR OLD handwritten vintage diary/ journal/ manuscript book was written by BERNICE EVELYN BECK who was in the senior class in High School when she wrote it, and I believe she was attending some kind of boarding school. Bernice lived in HOUSTON. HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS. She traveled at times for speaking arrangements. And apparently she was very good because she received so many requests. She had to turn some down! My research shows that she attended the University of Houston. She married ALVIS VERNIE LONG on May 7. 1966 in Harris County. Texas, when she was 29 years ... moreold. T his diary is WONDERFUL! One of the things that makes this diary very special, is that she expresses many emotions in her entries! And included is a photograph of Bernice that was tucked between the pages! I also found a yearbook photo of her while she was attending the University. This is a VERY RARE One-Of-A-Kind Window Into Texas& American History! Diaries from Texas are always a treat to find because for some reason. They are less common than those from the eastern states. Bernice's entries start while in Mexico with friends on school break. And then she returns to Texas and starts school again. She is in love with"Gus" And he is quite worried of losing her to another guy. I guess he had good reason to be worried. Since she married someone else! This diary measures 5 1/4" x 6 1/2" It has only 63 entries. But still I found it entertaining to read, especially since she expresses her innermost emotions in her entries! The diary has dark brown smoke marks consistant with being in a fire. And it has tape repairs. if only it could talk. I'm sure it would have a lot of stories to tell! And I don't know about you, but I always love

1850 Handwritten Diary -Lake Mich Schooner to Oconto, WI, Works in Logging Camp
Charles D. Shoemaker. The author of this diary, lived in Joliet Illinois. In the year 1850, he traveled by schooner from Chicago to Oconto, Wisconsin to work in a logging camp. This was not his first trip to Oconto. There is a brief description of a previous trip at the beginning of the diary. At the time of this diary. Logging was on it's way to becoming the leading industry in Wisconsin. It was hard, dangerous and poorly paid work, laborers made between 12- 25 dollars per month. The trees were felled in the winter months, cut and taken by teams to the river, then sent downstream to mills in the spring when the ice began to melt What is so fascinating about this diary is that the author made notes about working in each phase of the logging process. He left Joliet on October 21, 1850 and did not return until September 22, 1851, having ... morespent almost a full year working in the logging camp. During the author's 5 day trip on Lake Michigan. He noted the day and time they passed cities and landmarks- Waukegan, Milwaukee, So Washington, Sheboygan, Manitouwec. He also mentioned passing through the"door" which was Deaths Door, the site of many shipwrecks. He began work sawing the day after he arrived. He also had some other jobs: Nov 7. 1850.Went on board the brig Mary and got a boat load of corn. The Mill stood still. Nov 21.Left the Upper Mill in the morning. Went up to where we left the boat last night and found it frozen. We went down to the Steam Mill again and 9 of us brought a load of corn to the Upper Mill on a scow boat. Nov 23.Took a scow load of lumber out to the vessel. Was all day getting out into the Bay through the ice. Got unloaded two hours after dark. The wind blew like the devil into shore. We cast the scow boat loose from the vessel and went ashore locomotive speed. Dark and rainy and we got caught on a lee shore. Took the yawl and found the mouth of the river. Got to the Steam Mill at ten oclock at night. The following week. Mr Shoemaker wrote of taking a load of

VINTAGE MUSIC SHEETS HANDWRITTEN 1930s 1940s
This is a group of 13 vintage handwritten music sheets. The paper is a heavy weight– more like a light cardboard. The writing is done in black ink with notations in pencil. Each one is dated on the back. The dates range from 1938 to 1948. The sheets have age to them and so the color is a light yellowish-tan color. Each page is numbered and titled. One sheet is a bit bent. But all other 12 sheets are flat. They measure 10 inches by 6.5 inches. I think these would be great framed or you could wrap them around a cylinder and put a ribbon on them for decoration or use them as a table decoration or… I describe my items to the best of my ability; all items are sold in an as-is condition. Take the time to look at all the pictures and ask any questions you might have. Please note that I prefer PayPal payment.

NUREMBERG GERMANY MANUSCRIPT LEAF IN LATIN Handwritten Medieval/Late Middle Ages
FANTASTIC. ORIGINAL CIRCA 1450 NUREMBERG MANUSCRIPT LEAF. This terrific 15th century parchment leaf bears 30 lines of elaborate handwritten text tightly penned in Latin. Along with text. 24 lines of which span the length of the leaf, is a hand-drawn design in the lower left corner adjacent to a smaller scroll bracketing a lower paragraph of text. Top edge of leaf is close cropped and lower portion of hand-drawn design is lacking, indicating leaf is fragmentary and was likely separated along folds. A marvelous surviving Nuremberg relic of the Late Middle Ages. Nuremberg is a city in the German state of Bavaria. In the administrative region of Middle Franconia. Situated on the Pegnitz river and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, it is located about 110 miles north of Munich. With a current population of about 510,600 inhabitants, it is Franconia's ... morelargest city. Nuremberg was probably founded around the turn of the 11th century. According to the first documentary mention of the city in 1050, as the location of an Imperial castle between the East Franks and the Bavarian March of the Nordgau. From 1050 to 1571. The city expanded and rose dramatically in importance due to its location on key trade routes. King Conrad III established a burgraviate, with the first burgraves coming from the Austrian House of Raab but, with the extinction of their male line around 1190, the burgraviate was inherited by the last count's son-in-law, of the House of Hohenzollern. From the late 12th century to the Interregnum(1254-73) however, the power of the burgraves diminished as the Hohenstaufen emperors transferred most non-military powers to a castellan, with the city administration and the municipal courts handed over to an Imperial mayor from 1173/74. The strained relations between the burgraves and the castellan, with gradual transferral of powers to the latter in the late-14th and early-15th centuries, finally broke out into open enmity, which greatly influenced the history of the city. Nuremberg is often referred to as having bee

Stone(1829-1906) studied under C. G. Stevens, a lawyer of high repute" who law practiced in Worcester and Clinton. In 1871 Stone was appointed trial justice in Clinton, remaining in that position until the formation of the second district court of eastern Worcester where he was made associate justice and served for many years. see: Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County Massachusetts" Vol. 1, p. 149, Lewis Publishing Co. 1909] Remarkable volume contains Judge Stone's personal handwritten account of two tragic cases. The first involves 34 year-old Mary Z. French. Of Sterling, Massachusetts, a mother ... moreof three who had a longtime affair with a local farmer identified as J. Davidson. Both parties were married with children, however Mrs. French's husband James had been living in"the west" for the past 12 years. Mr. Davidson was a frequent visitor throughout Mary's illness, which culminated in her death on Nov. 3rd, 1882. The official cause of death was listed as"peritonitis" however inconsistencies in various statements led to her body being exhumed. An autopsy was performed and it was determined that Mrs. French had been pregnant and died of complications from an abortion performed by"some person unknown" Judge Stone recounts the facts, statements and testimony of various parties. Second case is no less tragic and involves the untimely death of a 23 month old boy named Preston Garfield Walsh who was"killed by a train of the Old Colony R.R. on the first day of August. 1883. 1924 Handwritten Diary White Star Line Ship Majestic Trip to Ireland Dungarvan
I want to say that on a weekly basis I get questions from bidders asking if I split up family lots of diaries and sell them separately. And with that said… I also need to mention that it is illegal by EBay’s rules to copy all or any part of the description here for purposes of selling ... moreelsewhere. Their policy is listed here; http:pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html I have no problem at all with anyone purchasing my item and reselling it. However my description that I’ve worked hours on is not allowed to be copied by anyone for the above purposes. The main reason I write this is because I was contacted about a listing where someone had copied my exact auction and tried to sell a diary that they didn’t even have. It ended up being a fraudulent auction and I’m thankful they caught it in time. Thank you so much for your understanding. Up for auction today is a 77 page handwritten diary that was kept by a woman who sailed on the great ocean liner“Majestic” in 1924. When I was looking for a photo or web site to share with you about the Majestic I found this INCREDIBLE VIDEO taken in 1931 of the Majestic. http:www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP46USxORgQ Now the diary of course was written 7 years earlier but to know our author walked the decks of this ship shown in the video is so surreal to me. The trip starts on June 28 th leaving New York Harbor and then ends on August 16 th while still at sea. The first 7 pages of the diary are written while on board t

Three Leaves Ethiopian Christian Ge'ez Bible Handwritten on Vellum Animal Skin
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This auction is for three rare illuminated Ge'ez handwritten manuscript leaves. Written on vellum(not paper) with writing on both sides. The vellum animal skin shows some discoloration. Especially around the edges of the page, due to age, water damage, and use. Also notice the difference between the small black marks on the"hair" side and the very smooth"skin" side of the vellum. It should be pointed out that the series of vertical pin-prick holes in the vellum in the outer margin were made as a guide to the scribe for the placement and alignment of each line. Also, there are faint vertical lines to indicate to the scribe where to begin and end each line, and also to leave a margin between the two columns. Total size of the page is 4 3/4 in. x 6 in. T hese three(3) sheets ... morecontain a total of fifteen(15) red illuminated letters. As well as numerous"cross" designs that have red marks and probably indicate the beginning of a new verse. I do not read the Ethiopian Ge'ez language and do not know the age of these leaves, but I would estimate them as mid-19th century to late19th century. These are original handwritten manuscript leaves on vellum. Not modern reproductions. Their authenticity is 100% guaranteed. IMPORTANT WARNING NOTE: Please notice that I have used the word"Bible" in the title. It really should be"Biblical. Earlier I had changed the word"Bible" to"Biblical, but there were no search hits, because most people are searching for the word"Bible. The reason that I say this is because one cannot be certain that the particular text on the manuscript is a Bible or New Testament text. It could just as well be a Psalter, a private prayerbook, a theological exposition, a Biblical commentary and explanation, a church liturgy or service, various quotations of Patristic writers, a philosophical discussion, a hymnody, or some other Christian historical writing. However, this sheet does represent some as

1861 Handwritten Civil War Era Diary Journal -Stanley-Attleboro Ma 7th Regiment
The author of this diary was a young woman who was either 17 or 22 years old. Depending on which census record you look at. Her name is not written in the book, but I am quite sure her first name was Sylvia. On one page someone wrote"Sylvia, you did not write in your diary today" On another page, she wrote at the bottom a few times the name"Sylvia Stanley" What is confusing is that the young man she was interested in and eventually married was named Stephen Stanley, but census records show that his parentage was different then that of Sylvia. To make matters even more confusing, there is the name Artemas Stanley, Camp Old Coloney, Company, Taunton Ma written on the last page of the diary. According to early Mass census records, this young man had different parentage than either Stephen or Sylvia. All three are listed as ... moreliving in Attleboro, Ma. Artemas Stanley volunteered in 1861, was in the Mass 7th Regiment, and died of illness in 1862. I am quite sure that the 19 yr old Stephen the author wrote about was the Steven Stanley who belonged to the 7th Regiment from Massachusetts. This regiment was stationed at Camp Brightwood at Washington DC in 1861. Sylvia wrote of Stephen being sent to Washington DC and of sending him letters there. She wrote: July 12. 1861.Attleboro Volunteers left for Washington. Hope they will all arrive safe! On one page in the diary. There is a drawing of the flag, and written underneath: The Star Spangled Banner In triumph shall wave Ore the land of the free And the home of the brave When this you see Remember your soger boy Steve Sylvia mentioned having discussions about the war with her friends. She also wrote of Steven and other men going to Taunton. Which is where they went to volunteer. She wrote of the Attleboro Volunteers in their uniforms and of bands playing in town. Very early in the war she wrote: April 25.A great Battle fought- two lives lost- Northerners carried the day. May 17.Very pleasant but cold. Worked all day. Company marched to Attleboro by

Vintage lot of personal correspondence letters, handwritten 1903-1928
Today for auction we bring to you a vintage lot of 100+ letters and personal correspondence that date from approx 1903-1928. These are letters. Greeting cards, christmas tags, birth announcements and more. We stopped counting at 100 envelopes with letters enclosed so there are definately 100+ and there are at least 100 or more loose letters without envelopes. The earliest ones I found were 1903 with the latest ones being 1928 but there very well could be earlier or later ones as we did not get through them all. Alot of the envelopes still have the stamp affixed. These came in a box from an estate sale. We did not read all the letters but from the ones we did read there are alot from a mother, father and son along with other relatives. The son lived or traveled to Canada with the parents living in the midwest. The letters talk about WWI, farming, ... morecrops, dances, the weather, selling of farm animals and the prices that they were sold at, what the prices of some groceries were. Most of the letters are written in pencil with some written in ink. These are all old so they range in condition. Some are starting to fade and hard to read. Some of the envelopes may even be empty but kept them together due to the postage stamp, others may have multiple letters enclosed. Please take a look at the pictures provided and for some more detail on what you are receiving. If you have any questions please be sure to ask. Thank you for looking.be sure to check out some of the other fine items we have listed for both sale and auction. Froo www.froo.com | Froo Cross Sell. *HANDWRITTEN SERVANT LEDGER 1821 1869 HISTORIC WEALTHY PA & NJ FAMILY FILLED *
Up for auction is a very unique and rare ledger belonging to Jeremiah Fisher Leaming(1795-1888) The son of Thomas Leaming(1748-1797) AND his wife- Rebecca(Waln) Leaming(1802-1846) Inside the front cover it states J.F. Leminig's Account of Servants wages from 1821 to- Rebecca Waln Leming's name is also written on the following page and the year 1822. The Leming and Waln family were quite wealthy. And well know in NJ& PA. Leming was a descendant of the Mayflower and his family owned large tracts of land on the east coast. What I find even more fascinating is the possibility that many of the servants mentioned in the ledger are former slaves. I believe this. Because of research done by the National Park Service and other historians, indicates that a large number of servants in Philadelphia in the 1820s and 30s- were either former ... moreslaves or free African Americans. I have researched the individuals listed in the ledger one in particular seems like a candidate. The others need more attention. Some are listed by first name only) His name is David Shockley he worked for the Leaming family for 31 years. He is listed as a Waiter. And Coachmen in the ledger. There is a separate letter written by someone in the Leaming family. This letter I believe. Links Shockley to the Wesley Episcopal church( listed as a Free colored church in PA at the time) Excerpt from the letter see photo( 8& 9) Died Sept 28. 1858 aged 61 years and of Hannah his wife died July 1854 aged 54 years- he was for many years a trustee of the Wesley( are in paper is hard to decipher) Episcopal Church This stone is erected by J.F. Leaming in whose family the deceased lived 31 years faithful in all his duties and respected by all who know him. Thomas Leaming( Jermiah's father) did own slaves. There is information below that I found on a genealogy website. The information on the servants in PA is also listed below here is an important excerpt. Philadelphia was an important center for indentured servitude even as late as the 1820s. It is re

1911/1913 HANDWRITTEN DIARY OF CHARLES SHERIFF/WHITEWATER WIS./FULL!!
Up for auction is the diary of Mr. Charles Sheriff from Whitewater Wis.I see the years 1911 and 1912.But am not really sure what or how many years are covered, because he writes the day and the month, but not the year, usually, and will not write for a long time and then will pick up and write again. He has written it in an old autograph book of his that has a couple of signitures and poems from the late 1800's and he has written his diary all around them. There are only about three signitures on three pages and they also have lovely pencil drawings with them.He writes about his big family, working in his garden, the farm work that was done, the farm animals, the weather, sickness, friends and callers and much more! The diary or autograph book is in good condition considering its age.His handwriting is a bit of a challege at first, and takes some getting ... moreuse to,but the more I read the easier it got.Someone who has the time could do some research about this man and his family and find out the whole story. He seems like a very nice man,who was very family oriented.Any questions please feel free to email me and thank you so much for looking! Boarding House Ledger Lumber River Rafting Olean,NY +PA Rare Handwritten 1833
Boarding House Ledger Lumber River Rafting Olean.NY +PA Rare Handwritten 1833 Description Amazing historical record documenting the origins of the Wheeler. Dusenbury& May Lumber Co. ~ A ledger book belonging to Ezra May. One of the founding members of the company, for a boarding house kept for employees in Portville near Olean, NY, beginning in 1833. Many of these employees were river raftsmen who would run logs down the Allegheny River to Warren. Philadelphia and beyond. The company. Later called the Wheeler& Dusenbury Co. would grow to become one of the largest in Pennsylvania. These men were pioneers and true visionaries. William Wheeler. Mentioned numerous times in the book, traveled by horseback through the virgin forests of Northwest Pennsylvania scouting out tracts to purchase for the company. When he ran out of road, he followed ... morethe rivers and streams to chart prime sources of pine, hemlock and spruce. The company did not indiscriminately clear cut these areas. But used a more selective approach. Today a large part of the Allegheny Forest survives as a testament to the wisdom of this course. One of the last remaining old growth forests in the United States exists because William Wheeler and Henry Dusenbury set it aside and left it untouched. It is called"Heart's Content, and remains a public recreation area today. Among their other innovations was the operation of the first successful band mill in the United States. At Endeavor, PA, and development of the Hickory Valley Railroad Co. one of the largest logging rail networks in Northwestern Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover. Blue paper over boards with leather over spine. Handmade alphabetical index for names at one end. Lined pages. Written at front on two blank end pages: Ezra May Junior. A Count Book. 1833- 17 years. Two Handwritten Diaries From 1936-1940 and 1950
These two handwritten diaries are written by two different members from the same family from Sumner Washington. These are the only diaries from this family that i have. Both diaries are in excellent condition and are very easy to read. The first diary is written by Elsie H. Reimertz between 1936 and 1940. This diary is a very interesting read! Elsie writes about her friends and family. Social interactions and the important news of the day. She lived a very active life and frequently writes about the people she has had encounters with and the different places she visits. She mentions lots of names, births, and deaths so more research is possible. She writes about her husband John whom she refers to as J.D almost everyday. She mentions what he does at work. Where he is going, and who is is with. In 1938, she writes about a bad accident that ... moreJD is in. She was notified by the police that he had been injured and given a police escort to the hospital. After arriving at the hospital she is informed by his doctors that he is in critical condition with a skull fracture and scalp injury. He describes how he is all bruised and swollen and how when he wakes he is unable to remember her name. He does survive and gets better but Elsie was forced to hire a lawyer to get the insurance company to cover his medical expenses. The couple also had to go on welfare to cover rent and groceries while JD was recovering. Some of the interesting news items she mentions are King George dying and Edward being proclaimed king. King Edward later abdicating the throne to marry Wallis Simpson, Charles Mattson's body being found, staying up passed 5:30am for the coronation of King George, John Rockefeller dying, Amelia Earhart being lost in the Pacific, Russia declaring war on Japan, FDR's birthday ball, Pope Pius dying, Dionne quintuplets being presented to the king and queen, Hitler sending troops into Poland, Germany declaring war on Britain and France, Italy declaring war on France and more! The second diary was written by Anna Alice
1878-1884 Handwritten Diaries Orange Co VT Towle Calif Lake Tahoe C. Jewell RARE
I want to start off by saying that on a weekly basis I get questions from bidders asking if I split up family lots of diaries and sell them separately. And with that said… Also it is illegal by EBay’s rules to copy all or any part of the description here for purposes of selling elsewhere. ... moreTheir policy is listed here; http:pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html I have no problem at all with anyone purchasing my item and reselling it. Up for auction today are two handwritten diaries that originally belonged to Charles W. Jewell of Orange County Vermont. I’m not exactly sure which village. I also think? I found him on one of the genealogy web sites. Said he was born around 1861. But further research needs to be done. So with this first diary written in 1878, Charles was just 17 years old. The next diary was written in 1884 when Charles was 23 and the fascinating thing about this second diary is that Charles is in Towle California working and mining until November 5 th when he boards a stage. Then train, then steamship and travels back home to Vermont. Not
