$31.27 Shipping Location: Pittsburgh, United States Late 1800's salt glazed stoneware crock with cobalt decoration. This crock features 4 squiggly horizontal stripes. This crock stands approximately ... more10" in height. Is 6" in diameter at the base, and 6.25" in diameter at the rim. It came out of a north-central West Virginia estate(about 5-min from the PA boarder) so it could be easily be either a SW PA or WV piece. This crock is essentially as-made. But does have a few noteworthy firing defects. Most notably, there is a 3" glaze crack running from the edge if the base up into the lower left side of the decoration when viewed head-on. The crack does not go into the inside, and no evidence of moisture was present after leaving it full of water overnight. There is a 5mm glaze pop to the left side of the decoration, but I believe this to be a firing defect due to the presence of glaze around the edges of the defect. On the inside there is a surface line extending from the rim, but it does not go through to the front of the crock. You may notice what looks like cracks on the underside in the photo of the base. This is neither cracking nor crazing. It is a fluctuation in the natural color. Overall a great piece, and I'll be sad to see it go! stoneware crock, Fombell Pennsylvania German pottery, small gray w/blue, nice
Beautiful gray-ish stoneware pottery crock with cobalt blue design and"Fombell. PA" on the front. Crock is 6 inches high so I think it would hold a quart of something. No lid. The brown flecks in the gray clay really give it a quaint look, inside and out. There is a maker's mark on the right side, tried to capture it on photo but it will be hard to see, as near as I can tell it is raised letter R in a little square near the bottom. There is a signature etched on the bottom but I can't make it out, but the date is 73. No chips. Stains, cracks, etc. Perfect for your primitive or country collection. This is rather unique item would be a great way to show your school pride. It could also be easily adapted and made into a necklace pendant for a women. Important Condition Note: T his item has an odd closure and there may be one part missing. I am not sure what the original closure looked like. This yearbook is 80 pages and is an original. This outside of this yearbook is in good condition. There is some visable use and age around the corners as well as the binding. Up for auction here are two Hazelton High School Newspapers published by the students of Hazelton High School. Hazelton, Pennsylvania, titled"The Mountaineer" Both of these papers are out of Volume 19. Both of these papers are in good condition. Both are readable and have very clean and claer print and photos. Both have been folded in half and then folded again into 1/4's. One paper is number 7, dated March 25, 1949, the other is number 8, dated April 29, 1949. Both of these papers are filled with interesting school related articles detailing school events, gossip and sports information. Both do have slight tears on one of their pages but the tears could be taped.
