Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Antique Cupola from Original Hunter's Cabin Hard To Find AMAZING HISTORY TO THIS
THIS ANTIQUE WEATHER VANE WEATHERVANE CUPOLA IS OFF OUR ORIGINAL HUNTER'S CABIN THAT WAS HERE WAY BEFORE ANY OF THE HOUSES WENT UP ACCORDING TO THE BLUE PRINTS. I can't date it exactly. But probably early to mid 1900's. There was an outhouse on the property we tore down. It is in nice condition, but just needs a scrubbing, which I will do a bit of before it sells. It was removed from the roof over 10yrs ago& has been in the one outbuilding garage since then. An amazing piece of history& some of these can go for a bomb of thousands of dollars from what my research told me. This is going to have to be picked up as I don't ship freight items. Nice lighting rod set. Tried to provide lots of pics. Bayonet point in nice shape as is the desirable milk glass ball. One insulator is chipped. Rod is of the twisted copper variety. Stand is rustic. But functional! Very nice set: this is not a repop. It is an original, antique set that came out of my grandparents estate. He was a rod installer. This was in his collection of stuff he saved. WEATHER VANE: Antique Piglet, Gilded Iron & Copper, 31" Tall x 20.75" Wide
WEATHER VANE: Antique Piglet. Gilded Iron& Copper, 31" Tall x 20.75" Wide This is a very charming Weather Vane featuring a Piglet which I bought in New Hampshire years ago. East of Nashua, toward Portsmouth. It also served originally as a lightning rod. The tripod support and the arrow are iron. I think the Piglet is also iron; a magnet sticks to it. The balls and supporting rod with its spike are copper. The Piglet seems to have a mustard colored undercoat. Which many of these old vanes have. When the gilding begins to wear, this undercoat helps to make it less apparent from a distance. This Weather Vane measures 31 inches tall and 20 3/4 inches wide. The tripod support is 19 inches tall. The arrow, 20 3/4 inches long. The Piglet himself is 9 1/2 inches long from his snout to his curly tail and 5 inches tall. The balls are ... more4 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 inches in diameter respectively. The spike at the top rises 4 1/4 inches from the small ball. Much of the gilding is worn away and the vertical rod with its top spike has a great coat of verdigris. On the whole. This Weather Vane is in pretty good shape and the Piglet still turns freely on his rod. The photos give a very good idea of the shape and color of this charming Weather Vane. Great antique 19th century carved wood cod fish weathervane. This primitively carved piece has remnants of paint on the underside. There are carved lines to highlight the eyes. Fins and some scales. There may have been zinc fins and a tail attached to the vane at the seam. It probably came apart and it looks like round headed nails were used to put it back together, however, the age of the weathervane is greater than that. It was bought from a man in Fairhaven, MA. He told us that it came from a small church on Nantucket Island. This is all he knew about it. It measures 27 1/2" long, 5 1/2" tall, and 3 1/2" wide. It is fabricated by an unusual kind of corrugated zinc coated tin(steel) sheet metal similar to the texture of corduroy. The rust oxidation is mostly on the exterior surface and the metal is still solid with its original thickness(not rusted through or badly corroded) It appears that this piece was never painted and the original galvanized zinc cladding has been eroded by the elements. The result is a great antique rust patina which tells the true age of this piece. The dimensions are 22" tall and 15" square( at widest part) The original galvanized zinc remains mostly intact on the interior. There is some roofing tar residue on one side. Not sure, but through the best research I could do I Believe it maybe a Mohican Indian image. Was told this came off a house built in 1800's in Viriginia. Weathervane has been stored since removal over 26 years in garage. Has the N/S/E/W and the 2 balls, and the rod. Also comes with the brace to attach the item to your roof. I believe all is original. Measurements: From base to top of feather on his head measures 56 inches. The rod to the small ball at base of Indian is 33 inches. The rod that holds the Indian on measures 11 inches. Horse and Doctor Buggy Weathervane with Directionals
For auction is a doctor buggy drawn by horse weathervane with directional. I do not know if this a reproduction or not. The ball looks loose in the picture but it was not adjusted right and the ball drops down further and fits pretty good. I am also not sure if the directional is original to the piece. It measures 32" long and 16" tall without the directional and 5 1/2" wide. The directional is 29" tall and the N S and E W are not the same length. N-S measures about 18" and E-W measures about 22" This piece is in very good condition(makes me think reproduction) but does have a nice patina.

Antique Weathervane Rooster 1940's Texas Cast Metal Art Country House or Barn Search I have an authentic metal rooster weathervane for sell. It is complete and it is ready for mounting. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. I have kept it inside my home for at least fifteen years as a display piece. The antique globe in the first phoograph is not part of this auction. It is time to let someone else enjoy this wonderful. ANTIQUE 63" LIGHTNING ROD WITH MILK WHITE GLASS BOWL NR! RUSTIC & RARE
Up for auction is a handsome early 20th century lightning rod from my wife's great-grandparent's old farmhouse. Dated somewhere between 1898 and 1918. The rod and ball are in nice preserved condition-except that the milk white glass ball has chipped rims at both ends(see photos) There is some rust especially on the feet, and nice patina throughout on the rod. NO RESERVE! Rod stands approximately 63 inches tall and the glass ball is 5.5" at the diameter. Please use the provided Zoom feature to take a close look at this item before bidding.
