Antique Cast Iron Ornate Weathervane Lightning Rod ARROW ~Looks to be Kretzer
ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

Here we have for sale a very old original lightning rod. This old lightning rod I hate to part with indeed. I've never seen this old type small thread lightning rod this short. The looped footed stand is 24" tall. The copper wrapped right hand spiral rod is 40" tall. The rod has the small 7/16" thread. The tip is a twigg or sprangle style. All the tines are good and she's not bent up. This is a great lightning rod and this 1880's- 1890's stuff aint easy to get anymore that isn't deteriorated away. A bit of research has informed me that Kretzer weathervanes are from the early 1900's. St. Louis seems to be the home of the manufacturer. A few years ago. My brothers and I had the ominous job of cleaning out the farm house and barns our family built in the 1890's. For your consideration is a vintage weathervane/ lightning rod arrow that I recently came across at a local estate auction. It measures 13 inches in length. It looks quite old and it looks like it may have been buried at some point. For some reason the end opposite the point is not nearly as pitted as the rest of the piece. Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod / Weathervane Arrow Amber Glass w Globe Ends 20"
I purchased this Lightning Rod Arrow with Amber Textured Glass Tail Insert at a farm estate sale here in rural WV. It is a cast metal probably cast iron and has ornate decorative work. The glass ball had been broken years before and the farmer had tied the ends for the glass ball onto the arrow so I left them. They are some sort of light metal and one has a bend but can be straightened. The arrow measures 20" and I see no damage other than some oxidation and light scraping.

Here we have for sale a very nice victorian era iron lightning rod. Lightning rod is made of twisted iron with brass fittings. Rod is 41" long with a nice big 10" brass bayonet. Rod has the bottom clamp. Bottom female fitting is stamped St. Louis L.R.Co. St. Louis. Mo. Stand is the standard style and measuers 24" tall. It is the insulated style with 2 white porcelain double collar style insulators. No damage to these. Real nice looking old lightning rod indeed. If the shipping seems high, it's the new balloon charge the P.O. likes to add. They say it has to do with the space it takes up on the air plane. sounds like b/s to me. Here we have a set of 3 lightning rods. These were recently salvaged from a barn that had collasped. Here's what you get 3- steel washer stands. These are 16" tall and have a odd size 3/4" rod openings. 3- 31" Aluminum twisted star rods. 2- have the bottom connectors. The other connector I couldn't find. The tip of the middle rod looks like it's been resharped some years ago? This is a guess tho, it may be made that way, can't really tell. You get all 3 for the money.

Here we have an old lightning rod. This was recently removed off a Southern Ky. barn. Stand is a noninsulated style. It is 21" tall and has all it's feet and the brass rod clips aren't broken. Rod is a 32" iron spiral style rod. The female fitting is stamped Improved Miller Quality. Rod has the 2- piece brass cable connector and a wide blade 9" bayonet. Rod and stand has some silver roof paint and the tip has nice bright green patina. Very nice old rod.

ANTIQUE VTG COPPER CAST IRON LIGHTNING ROD WEATHERVANE AAFA FOLKART AMERICANA
This is a wonderful VINTAGE ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD. DIRECTIONAL WEATHERVANE WITH COUNTRY PRIMITIVE HOLLOW ROOSTER THAT HAS GREAT DETAIL. The weathervane was made for a barn or cupola and is circa 1900, if I had to guess. The directional rod seems to be cast iron, the lightning rod seems to be copper and the rooster is made of what, I think, is zinc. The weathervane is 34" tall and is 23" wide at the arrow. The bottom stand has 2 mounting holes for screws on each leg and the rooster is 10 1/4" tall and 7 1/2" wide. The weathervane is in very nice condition with a very small dent in the lightning rod and there might be a repair on the directional rod. There is a glob of something on it by the arrow. I cannot see what it is because of the paint so I am not sure. It might just be a weight. I have to say, that I did not notice ... moreit when I bought it years ago. The weathervane is a great piece of Americana and would made a great architectural addition to your home or it has many more years of being a weathervane. Here we have for sale a very ornate lightning rod weathervane shaft. This is 100% guaranteed original. The fancy iron shaft is 23" tall and fits a 3/4" sprial rod. There is a split in the seam on the rod towards the front. By the looks of the mounting holes. It had a small cow originaly. Also included is the original ferrule that this was on. It's worn thru where the vane rides at the bottom but still is usuable. Great looking old shaft and not easy to find!

Antique Victorian Era 1890s 1900s Cast Iron Lightning Rod Weathervane Farm Barn
Here we have for sale a very nice lightning rod glasstail weathervane. This vane is 18" long and fits a twisted style rod. It has the original red over clear glass with a nice fat snowflake design. There is old staining on the glass and the frame has some silver roof paint. The small nick like area visable at the top center of the glass 3rd picture. Isn't an actual nick or damage. It is actually a small cut to see which side of the glass is the red side. I have a couple other glasstails with this same"test" mark. These designs are cut with a wheel. You grind through the thin red layer exposing the clear layer and viola you have your design. If you mistakenly made a big cut on the clear side, you ruined your glass. The frame is straight with no damage. This is a darn good looking little glasstail and is worthy of the best ... morecollections.

Antique 1890's Brass Iron Hollow Body Lightning Rod Running Horse Weathervane
Here we have for sale an antique hard to find 1890's brass hollow body two piece horse weathervane. The arrow is 24" long and made if cast iron. It has a twisted wire back which tells you it's an early piece. The horse is 11" long and 6" tall. It is made of two pieces of brass. Horse has a fair amount of the gold gilding still on it. There is some bullet damage that has been repaired with solder years ago. This vane didn't see a long life outdoors by the looks of it. It is an authentic antique piece that's for sure. This style running horse does not turn up often these days. What you see is what you get.
