This is a vintage piece that came out of my grandparents estate. He was a lightning rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. I'm not certain how old this piece is. But I would guess Pre-1970. It looks to me like its brass with a chromed point. It is 10" long. I'm guessing this came out of his stock and looks unused/NOS. Rare D&S Lightning Rod and swivel base with great patina
Great patina on this old rod and base. Wonderful condition and rare. About 12" tall. Rod is tapped into the base that was also able to receive a hub adapter or female terminal. Casting created by casting the swivel hub into the lower side mount bracket. NO more of these available.

ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD WITH KRETZER ARROW. FINIAL AND BALL! Up for auction is this great find of an old lightning rod with arrow and ball. The Lightning Rod has the twisted iron rods which show its age due to the rust on the rods but in good shape. The rods have two connectors that have the white porcelain insulators marked“ RH CO No. 74” Reyburn-Hunter and Company) The copper end on the middle rod is also marked“ RH CO” and has a green patina. The center rod measures approximately 62” high. The arrow is marked“Kretzer St. Louis” and shows its age with its green patina. The arrow is non-magnetic and measures 22” long. The ball is a nice cobalt blue color in good condition with just the usual nicks/cuts on the rims. There are no ball caps. Ball measures 5 ½“ high and has a circumference of approximately 14” Included is also the 5-Point ... morebrass Ajax top(finial) The non-magnetic top has a green patina and in good condition. Marked“Ajax” I have removed some of the points from its base but packed together for safe shipping. The lightning rod has a round metal stand. Shows rust but in good condition. Antique Primitive Old Barn Wrought Iron Weathervane Base Lightning Rod
Great-looking antique primitive wrought iron piece! It went on a roof; I think it had a weathervane on the top at one time. I also think the rod sticking out of the side is to ground the weathervane. But probably also serves as a brace. The box on the bottom looks like galvanized sheet metal. Old black paint. Antique Lightning rod with tripod base stand. The lightning rod was removed from Ledbetter Grocery Store. Ledbetter, Kentucky. The tip is marked, Kretzer, St Louis. The base of the rod reads, Kretzer Shurhold, Pat Aug 19, 1919 St Louis. The twisted shaft rod measures about 6 feet long. The top of the rod's three sided tip is about 11 1/2" long total(tip is 8" The tripod mount holder is about 38" tall. The tripod has twisted metal. The man that I purchased this lightning rod was in his 80's and said that he remembered the rod mounted on the roof of the grocery store. Amazing piece of history. RARE and unusual Cast Iron Lightning Rod and Finial with Base
This is an incredible piece. I search barns and auctions all the time and have never seen anything similar to this. I purchased it this week and was told it was a lightning rod although I have never seen one that looked like this. The piece is solid. Nothing broken that I can find. There is a threaded rod that runs the length of the inside of the piece that is cut off underneath the base. It appears that this base originally sat on something and that the rod continued down into another piece. It is an awesome piece, very unusual and interesting. It is solid but I was able to unscrew the top finial and take the 6-sided piece off to look it over. Please look at the pictures to judge for yourself, I cannot say 100% that this is a lightning rod but I do know it is a beautiful piece of iron. It stands approximately 43 inches tall and the widest ... morepart of the hexagon is 7 1/2 inches across. This is a heavy solid piece that stands well on its own. I will ship this with the finial and hexagon removed, it threads right back on easily. I am sorry for the cost to ship, USPS and UPS are not cheap.
