ANTIQUE TWISTED SPIRAL IRON LIGHTNING ROD COPPER FINIAL TOP KRETZER 52" TALL
This lightning rod is very old- all of the iron parts are rusty and the copper? finial has great green patina. A strong magnet does not stick to the finial. The twisted iron is one solid piece. Not wires twisted together. It measures 52 1/2" tall, has a 3 legged base, and the legs can probably be spread to make it stand on its own. The twisted rod moves freely up and down in the base guides. The finial is marked KRETZER ST. LOUIS- see photo 4. Please see the other items I have listed. All I remember about this item is I purchased it off Ebay 10 years ago for 95.00. I remember it was pre 1900 and the person had photos of where it was from. It came off a victorian house in Pennsylvania. I dont have the photos anymore. I was going to use it for a mixed media art project but never got around to it. It was the top of a weather vane lightning rod. Its VERY heavy. You can see how big it is from photo. I put a battery next to it. I accept paypal only. I ship same day as payment received. found this at an old farm auction. very nice piece. milk ball is about 5" cow is about 9" long and about 6" tall over all 16" from bottom to tip and almost 20" wide. found one like it on ebay and it said it was a New Jersey. Farm fresh, antique 1890's weathervane but I am not an expert so please see pics and judge for yourself. It looks like a wrought iron but with the green on it I can’t tell if it was painted or possible copper turned green. Most of my items are estate finds so I have no way of knowing if they came from a smoke free or pet free house. Keep this in mind if you are overly sensitive. These Thistle tips were sold by several lightning rod company's. There is a photo included of a page from an early St. Louis Lightning Rod Company Catalog. The page shows this exact Thistle in their catalog. The thistle is 8 3/4" tall by 10" wide and screws on to the top of a Star lightning rod. Spudnik style with 5 points. I believe it is either bronze or brass and has a great patina and original finish. Has a patent date but it is hard to read, I think it is 1912. Has a few bent points but if you made it to that age you would have some bent parts also. They stand about 9" tall and about 9 1/2" wide. These are becoming harder to get because they are bronze or brass and lots are being melted for scrap. Most of my items are preowned, vintage or antique so they will show age appropriate wear. ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD WITH KRETZER ARROW. FINIAL AND BALL! Up for auction is this great find of an old lightning rod with arrow and ball. The Lightning Rod has the twisted iron rods which show its age due to the rust on the rods but in good shape. The rods have two connectors that have the white porcelain insulators marked“ RH CO No. 74” Reyburn-Hunter and Company) The copper end on the middle rod is also marked“ RH CO” and has a green patina. The center rod measures approximately 62” high. The arrow is marked“Kretzer St. Louis” and shows its age with its green patina. The arrow is non-magnetic and measures 22” long. The ball is a nice cobalt blue color in good condition with just the usual nicks/cuts on the rims. There are no ball caps. Ball measures 5 ½“ high and has a circumference of approximately 14” Included is also the 5-Point ... morebrass Ajax top(finial) The non-magnetic top has a green patina and in good condition. The arrow im pretty sure is all copper due to its discoloration. One side of the"feathers" on the arrow could use resoldered to the shaft. Copper ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD Twig Branch Finial BARN WEATHERVANE TOP
This copper lightning rod/weathervane tree branch/twig finial is a little over 10" long. The threaded opening is 5/16" across. The finial remains in fine. Sound, weather-beaten condition but one of the twigs has about 1/2" broken off. It weighs about 3 ounces. We'll ship the relic shown in our scans with tracking number for $3.85. We just listed two matching finials like this one but they both are in undamaged condition.
