This is a very rare 3.5 lightning rod ball. White milk glass with the metal caps. And it's NOS and still in original box! This is not a reproduction. It's the real deal. It came out of my Grandparents' estate. My step-Grandfather was a lightning rod installer and electrician. It measures 3 3/4" wide by just over 3 1/2" high. We belive it is milk glass and it comes with both end caps that alone are worth twelve dollars or more. For new collectors of lightning rod balls to remember is that authentic antique glass lightning rod balls have two openings, one on each end for the rod to run through. The openings are the same size on each end and the collars on each end are generally the same size too. There are no authentic patterns that have an overall design of"hobnail" or"spikes" or have any"etched" or"painted" surface. Four large aluminum end caps diameter 1-9/16" with center hole diameter of 11/16" Six medium cast aluminum end caps diameter 1-1/4" with center hole diameter of 11/16" Ten small aluminum end caps diameter 1-1/4" with center hole diameter of 12/16" The diameter of all the caps was measured inside the cap. Antique, RARE set up! Twisted lightning rod and SCA ball, embossed caps and rod!
This lightning rod set up is really special. It is A scroll stand with a twisted Star Rod. it has a bayonet tip that is engraved with the letters CBFR. Call brothers Franklin rod. the rod itself stands 70 inches tall. the ball is Sun colored amethyst very beautiful and comes with two caps that are correct Kretzer brand trademark. One cap is in much better condition than the other but both still clearly show the embossing.

This is a beautiful antique lightning rod ball in the 4 1/2" Pleat Pointed pattern. It is a nice Blue Milk Glass and is NOS and thus has never been up. As such it comes factory with aluminum caps. There are no chips or cracks and the ball is in perfect condition. This ball is a great example of this pattern in this striking color and is rare to fine in NOS! Thanks for looking and bidding!
