Antique lightning ball in an opaque peach/pink color decorated with gold painted flower design. The diameter and height of the ball is 5 inches. The ball has ground collars and looks like it was never installed since it is very clean and there is very little wear to the paint. The end holes are are approximately 6/8ths of an inch in diameter. When held up to the light you can more clearly see that the glass is coin dot. There are no cracks or chips. Found at an estate sale in Connecticut in the barn. Wind Vane Directional Letters Old Vintage Solid Cast Brass
This auction is for the two directional arms for a wind vane. They are cast in heavy brass. The two arm halves nest together in a slotted fitting. There would be a pipe running up through the center to support a movable arm and finial. I used a piece of hardware to approximate the assembly in the picture. You can use a piece of conduit or re-bar or pipe from Lowes hardware. The two pieces have the original slotted brass screws that act as securing fittings to clamp the arms in place. These are old. Probably Pre-WWII. The arms are about 2 feet across. Letters are about 3 or 4 inches tall. I can take a better measurement if needed. Feel free to ask any questions in advance. Vintage Lightning Rod Roof Mount Complete with Ball From Lancaster, Pa. Barn
ANTIQUE AMISH BARN LIGHTING ROD This came off an old Amish barn roof in Lancaster. Pa. This was the only one that survived complete. It still has the original ball, not cracked. Measures approx. 30" tall from base where it attaches to the roof to the tip. Can be changed by spreading the base legs apart, if needed. It also will extend to 39" by sliding the center copper rod up. At the base of this rod is where you would hook the copper ground wire. Vintage Horse & Sulky Copper weather vane with nice patina from 1800's folk art
This antique work of art. Horse& sulky with rider, copper with patina/and brass/cast iron,zinc? weather vane. I was told it was made in the 1800's it was on an old barn that was built in the 1800's so it most likely was the original weather vane put there when it was built. I love this beautiful piece of Americana folk art. The horses ears are missing,it needs some minor fixes,some parts need welded,there is a crack in the base& the end piece of the base is missing but it still is usable, in all its in great shape for its age and the fact that it was in use until recently. The most important parts still exist. It measures 33" long 14" high to the top of the riders head.It is a true vintage work of art! Natural wear and imperfections just add more character! Up for auction is an antique hard to find silver merc pointed pleat 5" pumpkin" lightning rod ball. This ball is all original and in very good condition. It has its original tube intact. This is a hard to photograph ball and I have made attempts to show the mercury coating from various angles. Picture#9 shows the spots where the merc coating is gone. The other photos show the diminished merc coating. By diminished coating I mean it still has reflective qualities but not highly reflective. We are pleased to offer this unique vintage weathervane. This piece is approximately 20 years old. It was roof mounted and used by the previous owners. The weathervane survived an incredibly destructive tornado which devastated the town of Pierce City. Missouri on May 4, 2003. The owners salvaged the weathervane, painted it, and displayed in their new home. They are moving to assisted living and we purchased from their auction. The weathervane features a large metal rooster standing on the arrow. The rooster is a tin type metal with dimension and it is hollow inside. The rooster has a predominant teal color with some white, gold and red accents. It has a finish coat of polyurethane. This is a beautiful"salvaged" piece with great character. WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster. Painted Iron, 1800's. 25.5" Tall x 16" Wide This is a terrific Antique Weather Vane featuring a Rooster that I picked up years ago in Salisbury. Maryland which is the capital of chicken raising country in Southern Maryland. I believe he dates to the 1800's, based on his condition, construction and especially the hand forged supporting rod. He is made of heavy duty cut out iron. His feet are of a lighter gauge. He also has a diagonal iron brace. A couple of patches and a wonderful turning device that goes through both sides with a small wheel. He has traces of brown, black and red paint and must have been painted a number of times. I particularly like the way his eye was cut out. Leaving just the pupil. As he is now on his wooden stand. He is 25 1/2 inches tall and 16 inches wide. He has lost ... moreone of his tail feathers and his wattle seems to have been reattached. Besides this, he has no damage to him, except the obvious wear from being outside so long. You are bidding on an antique Sulky Driver with Running horse weathervane. It is made of copper and shows patena. It is in good antique condition.however the horse is missing the ears and I did take a photo of it for you to see. There are a few little dings and dents which has to the age of the weathervane.again there are photos of these. The weathervane measures approximately 14" tall at the highest point which is the wheel base to the top of driver. Here we have a group of 4 used but good saddle style lightning rods. These were removed from an old tumbled down house here in Southern Ky. recently. All 4 aluminum saddles are stamped"Robbins Lightning Maryville. Mo. The lightning rods each stand 18" tall. All the clamping fingers are intact. These are some what bent and out of shape. Vintage Very Old Weathervane James and Rooster
Up for auction today. I have a beautiful James Weathervane. I think some restoration has been done on this weathervane. You be the judge. The weathervane measures 25 3/4 inches tall. The arrow measures 40 5/8 inches across. The rooster measures 13 inches high by 12 inches across. Over 1/2 an inch thick. Top red dome measures 8 3/4 inches high by 3 inches round at the widest point. James measures 1 7/8 inches high by 8 3/8 inches long. And the base 11 1/2 inches tall, including the ball and washers. The very bottom of the base measures 5 inches at the widest point. The wood base makes it a nice piece to place in your office, family room, or display anywhere else in you home or work place.
