Vintage Rare Tall (65") Copper Lightning Rod w/ Stand
Vintage Rare tall lightning rod measuring approximately 65" Very hard to find rods of this height) Copper base. The tip seems more silver in color as the base has some of the green patina that copper gets from oxidation so I am not sure what this is made of. There is a tri-pod type stand with 2 rings where the base of the rod slips through(probably steel which has rusted) with holes in each end of the tri-pod for screwing into the top of the barn/house. The very tip of the arrow tip is very slightly bent and the rod itself seems to have a slight bend to it as well.

They are in nice condition, no cracks, rods are straight and pointed and feel like they may be solid, but not sure, both have the plate to tighten the copper ground line to them, no cracks in mounting roof plates, may need to bend them to pitch of roof to be mounted on. Set of Vintage Copper Lightning Rod Supports
Up for auction is this vintage set of copper lightning rod supports. The pieces are in pretty good used condition. They go around the rod and are attached with a set screw and the bottom parts wrap around the copper wire where it runs across the roof top. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane / Lightning Rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass
MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. Vintage Lightning Rod Rods One Twisted Stand Both Copper Tipped
For sale is a pair of vintage(maybe antique) lightning rods. Puchased recently in SE Kansas. I know little about these. But here's what I do know; They are 54" tall and are supported via a metal tripod system. Which I am not exactly sure how it works? They are bluish so I am assume the main pole is copper. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. Vintage Copper Lightning Rod Weather Vane with Glass Ball & Directional Arrow
For auction is a complete vintage copper lightning rod/weather vane similar to the one seen on a recent version of American Pickers. This one was one of two that graced an old barn in eastern Pennsylvania. It would make a great architectural display piece for your home. Right now. It is mounted on a board for display purposes but it will not be shipped with the board. You can supply your own and save shipping costs. The three legs and framework for the rod are iron and are rusted from years of being exposed to the elements. Just the rod is copper. The three legs were meant to be spread out and attached to the peak of the roof. The bottom of the rod has a copper loop through which ran copped cable to make any lightening strike go to ground. The glass ball was intended to explode if hit by lightening to indicate a strike. The pictures are representative ... moreof its brown light coffee color. There are no cracks in the glass but there are flakes on the upper and lower edges of the circular hole as can be seen in the 6th and 7th pictures. It appears that the more serious flakes resulted from the ball turning on the directional arrow. I suppuse there is some type of washer or gasket to prevent this type of damage. The arrow is 20 3/4" long. It is made from cas aluminum or white metal as it is not very heavy. The rod stands 65 3/4" tall and the entire peice shows good green copper patina.The ball will be shipped separate from the rod and arrow to prevent damage.

Vintage Antique 68" Copper Lightning Rod with Blue W.C. Shinn Milk Glass Ball
This is a beautiful old copper lightning rod with metal stand and blue milk glass W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. ball. The copper has a fantastic green patina and the stand has some surface rust. But it is still sturdy and functional. There are holes in the ends of the stand legs for attaching the stand to the roof or other structure. The glass ball is a bold robin's egg blue with the words W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. wrapped around the middle. There are some tiny chips missing from the top rim and two larger chips missing from the bottom as shown in the 4th, 7th, and last photo. The ball still sits nicely on the metal disk, and there are no cracks in the glass anywhere. The white disk you can see under the ball on the photos is a thin foam disk that is there to protect the bottom rim of the ball, but it is not necessary and can be slipped right off. This is a set of two weathervane balls. They are made of solid copper. They were acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. The duck weathervane( I also have listed now) was mounted on top of the clubhouse and it blew off the roof top in a huge storm in 2010. It never was remounted and has sat in a storage shed ever since. It took a major hit and there is damage to the balls as shown in the photos. I am not sure of the exact age of this vane but was told by the owner of the club that it was there when he purchased the property in 1960. I will leave the exact age to be determined by the pros. This is a large new solid copper weathervane. It is very large. Just the star part alone is 34in long(the arrow) and 27 inches tall. Add the pole. Decrotive balls and direction it gets even taller over 40 inches! This is beleived to be made by Weathervanes of Maine a couple decades ago. It has always been in a box and never used outside. It has only been displayed indoors a short time. The star, directionals, and balls are all solid heavy copper with a painted on patina. Some small and minor areas you can see the bright copper through the paint. The rod and stand are solid iron. Here are some old lightning rod pieces. 6 in all. I know little about these but will describe as best I can, Starting at the top, this piece has a hairline crack not seen in pictures. The next two are hollow copper and still sodderd to the old rod. 4rth from the top is hollow copper with a threaded brass end. The bottom two are solid, heavy copper. Here are 2 Vintage White Milk Glass Lightning Rod Balls. One Mounted on Its Original Copper Tube! Both are in Very Good Condition! There are a very few small chips on each- But Only- on their top and bottom which would be covered by the metal end caps- Not Included. The one still mounted on its Original Copper Tube is about 4 inches in Diameter. The Center Hole in this one is 7/8 inches in Diameter. The Other Ball is about 4 and 1/2 inches in Diameter with a Center Hole that is about 1 and 1/8 inches in Diameter. The First picture shows the true White Color of both of These. In the second picture. There appears to be a hint of blue, but this is due only to incorrect lighting. Both of These are Good Collectables!
