Very nice original painted wooden rooster weather vane. It is signed along the bottom edge with"IRWIN PAGE" in basic block incised lettering. Carved from one solid 12" plank. It has old style fancy fret work tail feathers coped out with carving marks left unsanded(last photo shows the rough carving to round the feather ends) The eyes are carved out on both sides(Photo 4) Partially paint-obscured on one side. No dry rot, but paint is fairly shabby with some chipping, peeling, and lots of age soiling as in the photos. I tested it with a dowel in the mounting hole: rooster is properly balance and spins very freely. Photo 7 is the mounting hole. Worn but not rotted. Please note that this is the top only of a weather vane. No mounting accessories- I slipped it over a dowel for the first picture. Vintage Swirled Lightning Rod With Eagle, Amethyst Glass Ball, And Stand
Vintage swirled steel lightning rod with mounted metal Eagle and Amethyst glass ball. Includes stand. Stand seems to be cast iron painted gold with(2) copper brackets holding(2) porcelain insulators. We believe the"spear" shaped topper to be copper as it has turned the classic"green" patina with age. Swirled rod measures 43" and approx 50" total length when mounted in stand. Bottom of rod will need a cable bracket installed for use. Perfect as is for decorative purposes. All metal in good vintage condition with just age/weather related wear. The Amethyst glass ball is approx 5 1/4" and does have a crack in it(see pics) Both ends on the ball are rough and chipped. But do have metal protective covers. Barn cupola - NICE REPRODUCTION
I want to sell this cupola I have built. It is out of all old materials. Including nails, but it is not an antique. I found some larger ones a while ago and rebuilt them to a small size. Regardless, these are not cheap to make if I had to buy the old barn wood and everything else. Trust me! so the price is fair. This one is made old old red pine barn wood that is 1" thick. The louvers are from a very old cupola and are meta with a gorgeous patina. The old lightning rod on top is copper and is old. The roof is old and the interior frame is old, thick pine lumber from a turkey shed. The cupola is very sturdy. Here we have for sale a very old original lightning rod. This old lightning rod I hate to part with indeed. I've never seen this old type small thread lightning rod this short. The looped footed stand is 24" tall. The copper wrapped right hand spiral rod is 40" tall. The rod has the small 7/16" thread. The tip is a twigg or sprangle style. All the tines are good and she's not bent up. This is a great lightning rod and this 1880's- 1890's stuff aint easy to get anymore that isn't deteriorated away. I have to add a balloon charge on these because of the length. Sorry but the P.O. just keeps dreaming up this crap.

Primitive WHIRL A GIG. DUCK in Flight. Handmade. Wooden.
Primitive. Hand made whirl a gig in shape of duck in flight. Has original old paint: reds, black& white. Wood is appropriately weathered from years out in the elements. Wings rotate when in the wind. Body of duck measures 21 inches long; the entire object is 7 inches across at the point where wings are attached to body. Originally set upon a pole& there is place on bottom where a dowel or rod can be inserted. Great garden room or sheltered garden decor piece. Has seen its day out in the gales& storms; needs protected retirement. It is not broken but edges of wings show some wear as if they bumped something while rotating. antique folk art pig weather vane rusted sheet metal
The sheet metal this pig is cut from is 1/16th wide so it is bendable. The pig stands 15 3/4" tall; the arrow is 19 1/2" long. The pig and arrow are not removable from the stand which measures as an oval 4 1/2" X 8" The pig rotates but would probably not do so in the wind or unless it was lubricated with oil or silcone. The stand is heavy and can tolerate rotation; it is heavy and the entire piece weighs 4 pounds. It is meant to stand on the oval as there are no screw holes or ways to mount the weather vane. The only history of this that I know is that it was part of an estate and unwanted by the heirs. It is a very pleasing. Has wonderful, rusty patina; and is a somewhat unique piece of folk art.

Up for sale is a beautiful Rare Hawkeye Dark Ruby Red Lightning Rod Ball. It does have a 3/4" thick chip on the bottom collar(See picture#3) Which can be unnoticeable with the collar ring. There is also a hairline crack running from the chip up through the'W' on'Hawkeye' and continues through the middle of one of the stars. This would not photograph because of the deep red color of the glass. Do not let the damage detour you, it is still a very lovely hard to find piece.

We absolutely guarantee this is not one of those Chinese(or whatever they are) new reproductions with the faked patina. This is the real deal! We got this in an all or nothing buy and we weren't wild about selling a genuine one against the sea of fakes out there but we purchased it from very nice people and we know the difference between this one and the repros. We deal with an educated customer base so while these words are probably not required we just wanted to be certain in case a novice collector or simply a homeowner desires one for their home. The base directional pole is something we have had for a while now waiting for just the right one to come along. Nice patina on this old weathervane. It is a full bodied form of a copper rooster. This piece has a nice folky quality to the form. It appears to be a handmade piece and it is joined with some kind of rivet or tack. It is mounted to a twisted piece of steel or iron that is then attached to a solid block of wood. Huge Vintage 52" Howard Johnson Weathervane Simple Simon/Dog/Pastry Chef Pie Man
This looks much better against the sky. Upper section with the boy and dog-Simple Simon-and the pie man is 51 3/4" wide by 36" tall from the arrow feathers to the chef. Mount extends out the bottom another 9 3/4" It is made of 3/16" steel other than the mounting shaft. This piece alone weighs 38 lbs. The N S E W indicator is 35" end of letter to end of letter and the letters are 7 3/8" They are 3/16" steel also. The solid steel rods the letters are attached to is 1/2" diameter. The main shaft the weathervane slips into is 1 1/4" diameter. Total height from bottom of letters to top of rod is 20 1/2" Shaft has 14 1/2" long rising up from the center, 2 3/4" coming out the bottom. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa 1900 American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette COW WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. I would approximate the age at early 1900s or there abouts. It measures approx 26-1/2" long, approx 17" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. I do not have the rod on which it originally sat,what you see is what you get. It is in Very Nice Original As Found Condition. Comes with the old bird poop and everything. All I did was dust it off. It was painted a grayish color and is caked with dirt. Bird poop, and who knows what else. I just lowered buy it now price to $400! I have up for auction a set of 7 lightning rods. As you can see from the pictures they are a wrought iron and copper design. With 4 legs to attach to the roof as well as the center of the rod has a part that mounts to the peak with 4 nails or screws. They are very beautiful and with a little cleanup and polishing they could be really great looking. I decided to leave them as is in case the new buyer wants them to look rustic. I purchased it from the grandson of the man who made it. The man I puchased it from is in his 70s and he recalls this weathervane on a shed. It was taken down years ago and was stored inside the barn. I wouldn't say this is 100 years old. But it is definitely old and cut from sheet metal. VINTAGE MILKGLASS LIGHTNING ROD BALL- ALMOST PURPLE (ROD NOT INCLUDED)
Up for sale is this deep lavender glass lightning rod ball. The sun causes what was white milk glass to turn this beautiful color. This one is unique because the lavender swirls through it. Very pretty. Has normal chipping on the top and base and a small what appears to be an air bubble. Measures 14 1/2" in circumference. This came from an estate sale in south central Iowa and is in great shape for the years it spent on a barn roof. A great many of these were shot to pieces. AUCTION IS FOR GLASS BALL ONLY.
