19th Century American Copper Running Horse & Sulky Weathervane & Directionals
19th Century American Full Body Copper and Metal Running Horse and Sulky Weathervane ca. 1880-90 with Directionals. The rider and horse have great form. The weathervane has great patina- nice verdigris color. SIZE: Horse and Sulky are 30 inches long x 14 inches high x 6 1/2 inches wide. Directional is 40 inches high x 23 inches wide. CONDITION: The weathervane has natural wear from age and exposure. The horse has a hole in its knee for placement on the directional. A few of the spoke wheels are slightly bent on the sulky. On one side. Two wheel spokes are separated from the round wheel. There are some dents and dings overall. Directional- the top ball has dents, and the bottom smaller ball has a couple small dents. The pole is slightly bent near the directionals. Great piece of old Folk Art. This item will be shipped in two boxes.

This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. One 2" and one 4" The directional Markers are appx. 18 1/2" wide and 3 1/4" tall. ... moreEach letter is appx 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" The condition is as shown in the pictures. There does not appear to be any missing parts except for one set screw in the directional markers but they are interlocking so the one thats there will probably suffice. Thanks for looking!

Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. Make sure you use the zoom feature to see the great detail. Here's a Great Antique 19th Century American Running Horse Weathervane with Copper Body and Cast Iron Head. Offered at NO RESERVE! The weathervane measures approximately 24 and 1/4" long and stands about 15" tall. For the age and use it's in Very Good Condition; it has a variegated verdigris and rust patination which to me looks phenomenal. The head is rusty but solid, and there appear to be several filled holes here and there. Under the head the seam is split somewhat but that could be repaired. Of course there are dents, dings, and so forth, but nothing I would rate as being negative. As far as the history, it came off a barn in Fair Haven, NJ, which was built in the 1870s, and remained in the same family until I acquired it recently. The people had moved here from a farm that had been in their family for generations in Maine. This came from the families barn. There are 2 bullet holes in the horse. Vintage Very nice American Folk Art Copper running Horse weathervane with two copper balls. The north. East, south, west parts looks to be brass that is 18 in. long with 3 1/4 letters on them along with the brass bar stand. looks too be in great shape with no dents or cracks. Antique VTG Copper Running Horse Weathervane 19th Century For sale is an antique copper horse weathervane. I have been told that it is an Ethan Allen running horse made by either L.W. Cushing or J.W. Fiske. But I did not see any marks so I cannot confirm this. The horse has a hollow body(two copper sides) with a solid cast iron head. The weathervane measurements are as follows: Horse Width(from bar to bar) 33” Horse Height(Ear to front leg) 16” Top of horse to the base- 4ft/ 48” The weathervane is all original. I dont see any replaced parts. Besides for the bracket on the bottom. The vane had been maintained(greased) so the horse will spin in the wind. The pole(stand) is pretty rusty. The horse appears to be made of zinc. It is not magnetic. It measures 11 ½ inches log and just over 2 ½ inches wide. It is missing one front leg and has come unattached from the arrow. Welcome, For sale is a vintage antique running horse weathervane. The head is bronze as well are the directionals while the body is copper. The horse is supported on the the original rod. The rod needs to be soldered back to the horse though. The dimensions: Horse from front foot to back foot- 32 inches. From bottom of middle foot to top of back- 8.5 inches. The directionals- 31 inches from one end of the rod to the other(height) 13 inches between each directional letter. This weathervane was produced in around the 1950's.

This lovely old weathervane topper is made of two sheets of copper which have been formed on a mold to create dimension and detail. Then soldered together with ears applied. We found this handsome fellow in an old barn, covered with dust(cliche, but true! in New Hampshire. Displays beautifully. We had a hard time listing him as he does look amazing in our home! Okay onward. Measures: Horse is 28"L x 13 1/2"H. Total 14" H(with support bar) Support bar is 31" L x 1/2" Diameter Condition: Really good considering he's been sitting outdoors then in a dusty old barn for years. We expected. Weathervane of Sulky Driver/Running Horse c. 1870 Blue Patina, Copper/Zinc
This is a wonderful antique copper and zinc weathervane that was probably designed from one of Cushing's renditions of a Sulky. Driver, and Horse in Courier and Ives as far back as c.1870. The horse is very similar to the then popular Japanese Racehorse, Blackhawk. This weathervane went to the Antiques Roadshow in June of 2010 in Billings, MT. It was authenticated by the Keno brothers and Michael as being at least as old as 1870, made up of copper and zinc, and is in very good to excellent condition. The weathervane is mounted at one point on a 31" long copper tube under the horse(as pictured) With an opening underneath with which to mount directionals, etc. The height of the vane is 17.5 inches at it's highest point and approx. 10 inches at its widest point. The patina is more oxidized on one side, giving it the bluish color ... moreof that of oxidized copper. The other side is more a darkened brownish color. The very fine reins are still intact. There are dents on one side, where possibly the vane was used for target practice. Please note that under the right ear of the horse, one can see a fold and the copper showing through the patina. This does not detract from this great piece. There are no identifying marks present or a signature. As was often the case for weathervanes. Loosen these screws and directional moves and if you want the directional to be stationary you tighten the screw. Vintage Copper Running Horse Weathervane 29" Country Folk Art Ranch SW Decor
Up for auction is a great vintage country folk art running horse copper weathervane. C. 1970. The full bodied(hollow, double-sided) horse measures about 29 1/4" from nose to tail and about 13" high from ears to front foot(measurement does not include the attached stand) There is some overall oxidation as happens when copper ages and some dents and dings. There are a couple of heavy solder spots-I'm not sure if they are original or a repair. Antique 1800's Large Copper Running Horse Weathervane / Folk Art Fiske
This rare weathervane circa late 1800's came from an estate in Upstate NY. This is an original Victorian era piece! The hollow copper horse measures an impressive 30” from nose to tail and 15” from head to hoof. I have been told it is a J.W. Fiske weathervane but there are no makers marks so I cannot guarantee this The horse body rotates on an axis above the 18” wind indicator letters. Two hollow copper balls; 4 1/2” and 3 ½” sit atop the indicator. Overall the weathervane is in great vintage condition. With beautiful oxidation and patina. It comes with the original 60" pole, The base has a bend at bottom, from the chimney coming down on it. See last pic. Pictures where taken with& without flash. This Patchen trotter weathervane is modeled after a painting by American artist John Cameron who was popular in the late 1800's. This painting was used to make a Currier and Ives lithograph. This is considered to be a very well balanced weathervane with a highly detailed head as compared to weathervanes modeled after the horse Black Hawk.
