Antique ORIGINAL copper/iron/milk glass WHITE ball LIGHTENING ROD complete
This is one of the original lightening rods that was on the roof of the old farm that we bought in MI. The farm was built in 1912. The tripod used to attach it to the peak of the roof is made of iron. The tripod legs straddle the peak and are attached with screws. The pointed post is made of copper and has a lovely. Aged patina. The glass ball is made of white milkglass. I do not see any markings of any kind on this ball. The total thing stands 5 feet 5" tall with the tripod going straight down. The ball is about 4" in diameter. The heavy metal ground wire went from one lightening rod to the next and finally down the corner of the house and was securely anchored in the ground several inches with a long metal stake. This item will be shipped in two seperate boxes. The glass ball will be shipped seperately and insured. Due to the ... morelength of the rod. It will be classified as a large and irregular package. This is an antique Diddie Blitzen blue lightning rod bulb. It comes with the 2 copper ferrules that cover over the ends to cover up the chips(which are common on these bulbs) There are no cracks in the bulb. This is a nice piece of American farm history. Very Neat Old Antique Short Lightening Rod with Bronze Base.
You are bidding on an old antique lightening rod. The rod is made of copper. The base is bronze. It stands a little over 14 inches high and the rod is 1/2 inches in diameter. This is a great decorative piece, ideal for that garage or shed. It lends itself to the hobbiest that wants to design their own weather vane. I built a small airplane out of scrap metal that swivels on the rod when the wind blows. I mounted it on a pole and it generates a lot of comments. Authentic, Early Vintage, Copper Lightening Rod Weathervane
Not a repop. This is the real thing. This came out of my Grandparents' Estate and my step-grandfather, who passed about 10 years ago, was a lightening rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This is a RARE find. It is a COMPLETE LIGHTENING ROD with ORIGINAL CAST IRON ARROW with YELLOW SLAG GLASS INSERT. The lightening rod is 59 1/2" tall and has great patina. The arrow is 21 1/2" long and has the original yellow slag glass insert that is not cracked. The medium blue ball is 4 1/2" across and does have chips around the openings. It comes with the original metal rod holder that secures it to the roof. I purchased this from the original owner who's house was built in 1918. Thanks for looking. Vintage Emerald Green Lightening Rod and Ball
Up for auction today is a beautiful lightening rod and emerald green cut-to-clear ball. This piece stands approx 16" high and 2 3/4" wide. It is an egg shaped ball. I was told when it was purchased that it is either Hungarian or Czech. This makes sense because the Czech's do the glassware in cut-to-clear. It was never used. As the base is flat and the cable connector does not appear to have ever been used. This would make a beautiful piece to add to your collection or to purchase for the collector in your life. Up for auction is an antique James Lightening Rod/Weather Vane that we took off an old garage that we purchased. Measurements are: Total length of arrow to vane is 37" Total height is 31" cone is 8" tall, ball is 11" around and the tail is 12"x 6 1/2" Some bare metal, some rust and some silver paint is showing. Two Green Lightening Rod or Weathervane Glass Balls. Both have copper caps. I purchased these many years ago to update a lightening rod that I kept in the house, it is long gone and I ran across these, dusted them off and decided to rehome them. larger Ball stands just over 4 inches high, is 4 inches diameter and has two copper ends that are starting to tarnish. Smaller ball is 2 1/2 inches diameter stands at just over 2 inches high and also has two copper tarnishing ends. both are in like new. no chips or cracks.

1930s / 40s Complete Lightening Rod with Glass Ball
RARE Vintage 1930s/ 1940s Copper Lightning Rod with White Milk Glass ball off an antique barn in Upstate NY. The rod measures 3' tall. The milk glass ball measures 5" There are some small nicks at the bottom of the glass ball, most likely from being up on the barn in the elements for all these years. Rod is made of copper and has a nice verdigris patina to it. There is a weathered iron mounting bracket that the rod sits in/ ball rests on. The mounting brackets are a little bent but can easily be bent to fit your roof. Has 14" of copper grounding wire attached. The rod has a touch of silver paint on it at the bottom.
