Antique Lightening Balls This auction is for a really nice pair of antique lightening rod balls made from a thin. Delicate milk glass. One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. Has some minor chipping as well at the top but lots of times they were manufacture with those chips. Great set and guaranteed old. Measure about 4½" wide. Antique Tall 60" Copper Lightning Rod with Milk White Electra Ball Globe
This is an old and very tall lightning rod with a very attractive milk white color globe with"Electra" printed on it in raised letters. The tall pointed rod has a point at the top and is non-magnetic. I believe it is copper. The frame work is magnetic. The frame extends out at the bottom with 3 feet measuring about 18" apart. The white globe is a bit unique having the word"Electra" printed on it. Each end of the globe has some rough edges or chips which is not unusual for these globes. It looks very good on the rod. These lightning rods and globes make very nice outdoor or yard decorations and would even be a very unusual and interesting indoor accent.

As is the rod is about 45" tall and can adjust up to approx. 68" It has an attached metal arrow with Blue slag glass in the arrow metal frame with some obvious damage to the glass. Manganese used in the glass before WWI caused the white milk glass to change to a amethyst hue due to UV exposure over time. This ball measures 5 1/8" by 4 1/2" This ball was made by the Electra Lightning Rod Company out of Chicago IL and Cresco IA. This ball has typical collar chipping all coverable by caps. This is a very clean ball with one very tiny chip to one panel edge and chips on both stems that does go into the ball a little, but will mostly cover with collar(not included) Please realize that these have been on a barn roof for approx. 100 years or more. There may be tiny stem chips or light dirt film on inside. Anything else that would make this ball not work or look the way it should will be noted in description. Very nice and super rare Electra"E" brass lightning rod topper/finial. In the eleven point starburst. Crown point pattern. Measures 7 inches tall and 4 inches wide. With the original attached copper shaft it measures a total length of 10.5 inches. Condition: original aged green tint patina. also has what looks to be some of the original shiny silver nickel plating on the star. Could probably be polished nicely. Several of the tips have slight bends that are easily straightened. Otherwise no bends as seen in the pictures. Does have some pitting along"spear" part below starburst. Copper pipe does have small split where it connects to finial(note these are two pieces. Most do not have original crimped shaft) End of copper shaft is uneven. This is a blue milk glass"Electra Round" pattern lightning rod ball. The embossing is crisp and sharp and the collars are covered with caps but appear to be in excellent condition. No cracks. Antique Electra Lightining Rod Blue Glass Globe
This is an antique Electra lightning rod blue glass glove without the rod base. Some chips on openings where would sit on metal rod and some rust discoloration around circle opening. Electra is raised lettering on blown glass globe. A milk glass light blue with a bit of a swirl to it around the top. Sat on display for years on bookshelf and is in very good condition overall.

Here is an antique Electra milkglass lightning rod ball that has a very light blue cast to it(could be sun colored) This measures 5 1/2"T x 4 3/4"W and says Electra on both sides. One collar has very tiny chipping. The other collar has a chip about 1"L that goes down to ball about 1/2" The chip is only on the collar not on the ball itself so it can be covered by using end caps(sold on Ebay) There is light discoloration on one end by collar from use/weather. To help show the color I put this ball in-between a white one on left& sun colored purple on right(see last pic, only the Electra ball is included) I'm back to selling the remainder of the collection of lightning rod balls that I purchased several years ago.
