Here we have for sale 5 old original lightning rod glass balls. These are all very nice quality old vintage balls. You get a SCA Moon& Star. An Amber Moon& Star, a SCA Electra, a Blue Milk Electra, and a SCA/WMG Diddie Blitzen. All balls are in great shape. Any collar chipping, a cap more than covers. There is no major chips on any of these, just nicks or small eraser size chips. No bb damage or cracks. I'm selling these as a starter collection. If they don't sell, then I may offer them separately. These are spares from my collection and are all old, vintage, hand picked items. Nothing phoney with these. These are 4 Shinn Lightning Rods- Wrought iron stands with copper lightning rods. Ornate white milk glass balls that have W.C. Shinn, Lincoln, NE embossed on them. This is a set of two weathervane balls. They are made of solid copper. They were acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. The duck weathervane( I also have listed now) was mounted on top of the clubhouse and it blew off the roof top in a huge storm in 2010. It never was remounted and has sat in a storage shed ever since. It took a major hit and there is damage to the balls as shown in the photos. I am not sure of the exact age of this vane but was told by the owner of the club that it was there when he purchased the property in 1960. I will leave the exact age to be determined by the pros. 3 Antique Matching Victorian Iron Lightning Rods Balls Weathervane Farm Hardware
Here we have a group of 3 matching lightning rods. Glass balls and a kitetail weathervane. I personally removed these from a house here in Southern Ky. recently. Here's what you get. 3- 21" iron noninsulated stands with 31" iron twisted star rods. All the brass clips to clamp the rods are intact as are the feet. Rods come with the two piece brass cable connectors and a broad bladed 9" bayonet. Stands and rods have some old silver paint and the tips have super green patina! Each rod is marked Improved Miller Quality on the bottom fitting. You get 3- white milk glass 4-1/2" round glass balls. Collars are good and there are no cracks or bb damage. Two of the balls have old caps. Altho not the best caps but they're old. The other ball I put one copper new cap on it. None of the caps are affixed so you could put new ... morecaps on all three if you want. Finally, you get a 21" cast aluminum kitetail style weathervane and two piece cast aluminum ferrule. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL. ORIGINAL, ANTIQUE PIECE. This fine. Cased, ruby-red, cut-to-clear piece of glass was used in an authentic antique lightning rod weather vane. Measuring 4 1/2" x 2 1/8" it was either soldered into the tail of a cast iron weathervane or was held in by clips on the opening. This particular one shows signs of having been soldered in including faint stains on the edges and very small chips on the corners, but it would work in either type without showing those flaws. The drawing above shows the type of vane it was made for, but it will work in many other styles. Vintage Weathervane Cardinal Directional Arms N-S-E-W with 2 Copper Balls
Up for auction is a vintage weathervane directional set(pole not included) including the N-S-E-W arms and two copper balls. The directional arms each measure about 17 3/4" long with 3" high letters. They are only slightly magnetic so are made of some type of alloy and are not solid copper. Set of 3 Matching1900's Victorian Copper Lightning Rod Weathervane & Glass Balls
Here we have for sale a real good looking set of 3 matching copper lightning rods and glass balls. These are a little over 3 ft. tall. Rods are twisted copper with super green patina and have the original bottom clamps. Points are 3 sided bayonets. The stands are thick twisted steel wires and have all feet intact. Insulators are white porcelain. One is damaged but still usable. 4- are embossed Ohio Lightning Rod Co. and 2- are embossed C.B.F.R. Balls are plain 4-1/2" white milk glass rounds. No damage to any of them. Sorry. no caps for these. Weathervane is 19" long made of aluminum. The amber glass is genuine old original. Took these down myself a few years back and had them stashed away. These are exactly as removed from a house here in Ky. This item for sale is are 2 antique weathervane glass balls 1 blue in color. There is some minor chipping on each end or mouth of the blue one. But still very much useable.There are swirls in the glass that may look like cracks but i assure you there are no cracks.The white one is complete with its end caps and no cracks or damage.Both show typical wear considering there age.The blue ball measures 5" tall and 14" around. The white one measures 5" tall and 14.5 inches around. If you restore old weathervanes these may be for you.
