Not really considered antique(100 yrs) It is more commonly called vintage, though I have seen it called antique vintage to attract a wider audience. I was unable to locate any manufacture or date on the furniture other than on the bottom of the chairs which most likely was a re-upholster tag. Although considered common furniture in the 1920s-30s it is an excellent example of detail and craftsmanship. Enhancing the figured walnut and mahogany woods with inlaid banding. Three 12" wide leaves are solid walnut. They fit and match well. The trestle base is strong and tight on this sophisticated American made furniture. Table size is 40" wide. 31" tall, legroom is 26" underneath, length when closed is 5' and with all 3 leaves in place, length is 8' overall. Chairs are also tight and wiggle free. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. It consists of an oversized eight-legged dining table, with a hideaway leaf, a beautiful double door, double drawer heavily carved sideboard, a double door dome top china cabinet with a double drawer fan carved base, and a set of six unbelievable chairs, five sides and one arm chair. The tops of the sideboard and the table have been re-sprayed because the leaf and the table top were mismatched, color wise, and the sideboard showed numerous nicks and dings. The rest of the set is in pretty much original condition, although we have re-sprayed it to brighten it up. This set includes six MAHOGANY chairs. Two of them are arm chairs. The beautiful china cabinet measures 81" x 48 x 16 deep. The buffet measures 65" x 35 x 21" deep, the server measures 40" x 32 x 19 deep. The solid MAHOGANY table measures 61" x 40" without the leaf. There is one 12" leaf that is self storing under the table, and the table expands to accomodate 3- 4 more leaves if you want to have them made. Antique French Art Deco Oak Dining Room Set
Solid oak dining room set with intricate wood grain veneer on the front and back of each chair as well as the table's base. Six chairs total. With all parts intact and ready to use. Table is in great condition save for one flaw- some of the veneer on its base has chipped off(see photos) Overall, condition of wood surfaces is excellent and could be perfected through restoration, if desired. Retro. Mid century, steampunk, shabby chic.all good words that describe these four chairs Let's be honest now. Could these chairs be any more cool? No, not really. If this is your style, it doesn't get much better than this, even when you factor in the small bits of tweaking this set may require. These chairs look like they would go good in a 1960's decore Overall this set ain't bad. Although there is some damage, most of it could be fixable. First off, you will notice in one of the images that there is damage to the feet of the chairs. Most of the legs on these chairs have missing plastic feet. Next you'll see that there is some puncturing and breaks in the vinal cushions, each cushion image is taken from a different chair, so expect at least two chairs to have bottom cushions in need of patching up, but you were going ... moreto reapolster them anyway. The last really significant negative can been seen in the 11th image. This cushion actually comes off one chairs and it's not supposed to. Upon closer inspection. It looks like the tabs securing the bottom of the cushion to the chair have broken, so that need a repair too. Aside from what was mentioned above, just be aware of the usuall age wear, along with light rust and some general dirt. Such wear can been seen in our pictures of this item. Antique Berkey & Gay Dining Set 1920s Burled Walnut Stunning!!
For auction is an absolutely stunning Berkey& Gay burled walnut dining set. It will become the focal point of any home. The set includes dining table with expansion leafs(to seat 8) Dust bag, and table pad. There are 6 chairs(one armchair) a linen cabinet, and a buffet. All pieces are hand carved, claw and ball. Chair seats are navy blue, floral, needlepoint and each one is unique. Truly the prettiest set I've ever seen. The fact that it still exists as a full set after traveling around the world and all over the USA make it even more unique. There are a few scratches and one claw(not foot) missing from the buffet, and one of the leafs is missing a trim piece on one side. I asked an antique restoration person, and he said the flaws can be repaired. There have not been any repairs that I'm aware of. Beautifully built and wonderfully decorated with burled walnut accents. It has a classic. Timeless style that is hard to find these days, a quality that just isn't found in modern furniture any more. I believe this set was made in the 1930's. As indicated by the brass tag used on the inside of the buffet drawer(pictured) The set is in very good condition! Very solid and kept well. There's a few spots of age on the buffet and some signs of use, but for a set that is 80+ years old, it's to be expected. It needs a good polishing and maybe some oil, but obviously it was taken care of. I am selling this set for a family friend. She remembers eating at this very table on Christmas eve many years ago! The dining set includes 6 chairs. Table, 3 leaves and matching buffet. One chair has lost it's leg. And is there to be used as parts or to repair the others if broken. It was not pictured but it matches the other regular chairs. She is selling this set because she recently got married and has to downsize. She would love for this to go to a good home where it will be enjoyed and loved for many more years! Handmade pieces by designer/furniture maker George Hunt, whose Pasadena, CA studio was adjacent to that of architect Wallace Neff in the 1900's. 1930's Antique Mahogany dining set, handmade table and 8 chairs
This one-of-a-kind set of a gorgeous mahogany dining table and 8 chairs that my great-grandfather had commissioned in the early 1930's. The table stands on 2 pedestals. Each with w/3 brass clawed feet. With the help of 2 leaves(included) the table expands to 12 feet in length! It is in EXCELLENT condition. The chairs are as follows: There are 8 chairs total. 6 regular and 2 for the head/foot of the table and they have arms. They are 100% hand made from the strongest mahogany, I've been sitting on these chairs for as long as I can remember(about 35 years) and they don't even creak! Notice the intricate carving on the tops of all the chair backs, it's unbelievable! This set should not be passed on. It's a beautiful, original design and you will not find anything like it, anywhere!
