Baker Furniture Sideboard/Buffet,Inlaid Mahogany, Hepplewhite, Bowfront Demilune
Offered for sale is a Stunning Baker Furniture Hepplewhite Inlaid Mahogany Demilune Sideboard/Server/Buffet. This bowfront sideboard features two deep drawers and four curved doors with storage cabinets. All with beautiful brass carved pulls. The top drawer has the Baker nameplate and a green silverware liner and the drawer below is a tambour-style with an arched surround. The mahogany features a gorgeous inlaid cross-banded border with inlaid stringing all supported on six tapered legs with spade feet. The sideboard measures 66" wide x 37" high x 27.5" deep. I believe this sideboard is 20-25 years old but I am not sure of the exact age. It may be older. Overall it is in excellent condition with the following exceptions: there are a few light scuffs/scratches on the top(see pic#11) and the back left leg has a hairline crack ... morethat extends from the foot upwards approximately 3-4 inches(see pic#12) This crack does not appear to affect the sturdiness of the piece. I have discounted the price to reflect this issue. Overall, as is the case with all Baker mahogany furniture, this sideboard is a stunning piece of furniture that is a beauty to behold. BIGGS HEPPLEWHITE SOFA Up for auction is a wonderful piece of furniture. This beautiful Hepplewhite Sofa, style number 2407. Was made by The Biggs Antique Furniture Company of Richmond. Virginia. This reproduction piece is a traditional Hepplewhite style sofa with a camel back design. Single loose down seat, mahogany wood finger-print trim around the top edging and 8 mahogany leg base with finger-print front legs. The frame is constructed of hardwood making this a very heavy sofa. It has eight-way hand tied springs for great comfort when seated. The overall measurements are 77 1/2 inches wide/long, 31 1/2 inches deep and 36 inches high. The sofa is in excellent original finish and condition; it is tight and solid. The fabric is original beige damask with little wear and only a couple of water spots shown in the last pictures. The wood is ... morein excellent condition with very little wear for age. There are no smells or odors, no damage or repairs and could be used as is with no problem. Reproduction Hepplewhite-style Sideboard/Buffet by Biggs Furniture 1956 Mahogany
This is a beautiful sideboard. Or buffet, made by Biggs Furniture Company and bought new in 1956. It has been in the same household that entire time in a smoke-free environment and very gently used. The mahogany construction features line inlays, working locks and two keys. It has one center drawer flanked by two bottle cabinets. One cabinet has a drawer with dividers for silver serving utentsils. The center drawer comes with a removable Gorham silver storage tray with protective cover flap. It is almost 6 feet long and measures 25" deep at the widest part and stands 38" high. The sideboard is in excellent condition and was recently appraised at a fair market value of $1800 by an antiques expert. The appraisal is available on request. Wonderful bookends in a chair back shape. Indicative of the work of George Hepplewhite, the English furniture maker of the 18th century. Design is typical Hepplewhite: shield shape with decorative elements of swag draping in graceful arcs, ends hanging at the sides; gold feather near the top and fan shape near the bottom. Color is a lovely mahogany. I have owned this set before. One that still had original labels on the bottoms( NOTE: this set does not have labels) Those labels read. HEPPLEWHITE: Celebrated furniture maker of the great English period from 1760 to 1786. His work was noted for its elegance and gracefulness. Cast iron(yes. A magnet sticks) by Bradley Hubbard, their logo clearly incised in the backs. Ca. 1925. Condition is excellent. No damage at all to the metal structures or elements. Finish is original. Some wear and scuffing ... moreand discoloration on the bases, but otherwise almost entirely intact. Felts are long gone but some of the original rubber feet(now mashed down flat) still are present. Both pieces sit flat and stable. 6 inche tall; 4 3/8 inches wide; 2 inches deep. And fairly heavy at 2 pounds. 3 ounces EACH PIECE. Perfect gift for the Hepplewhite collector.
