This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. Offered today is this very rare Hoosier Breakfast Set. Oak drop-leaf table and four matching chairs. This table and chair set is from the late 1920's to early 1930's. I found an ad that was dated 1931 in the book"Hoosier Cabinets" By Philip Kennedy that is very similar. This is a genuine Hoosier brand. See picture with label on bottom of chair. The dimensions of the table are: 23" x 37" with the leaves down. And 42" x 37" with the leaves extended. The chairs are complete with no missing rungs or stretchers. However. They have been repaired by an amateur and need to be properly glued. Two of the chairs have metal plates on the underside. This is a classic piece of American history. I would love to keep it. Retro. Mid century, steampunk, shabby chic.all good words that describe these four chairs Let's be honest now. Could these chairs be any more cool? No, not really. If this is your style, it doesn't get much better than this, even when you factor in the small bits of tweaking this set may require. These chairs look like they would go good in a 1960's decore Overall this set ain't bad. Although there is some damage, most of it could be fixable. First off, you will notice in one of the images that there is damage to the feet of the chairs. Most of the legs on these chairs have missing plastic feet. Next you'll see that there is some puncturing and breaks in the vinal cushions, each cushion image is taken from a different chair, so expect at least two chairs to have bottom cushions in need of patching up, but you were going ... moreto reapolster them anyway. The last really significant negative can been seen in the 11th image. This cushion actually comes off one chairs and it's not supposed to. Upon closer inspection. It looks like the tabs securing the bottom of the cushion to the chair have broken, so that need a repair too. Aside from what was mentioned above, just be aware of the usuall age wear, along with light rust and some general dirt. Such wear can been seen in our pictures of this item. I have up for auction an antique/vintage dining room set. That is mahogany. It consists of a table, that pulls out to extend on either end, 8 chairs(6 side, 2 captains) and full custom made padded table covers, buffet, the buffet has a lot of nice detail on the side door, the back of the buffet and drawers. There is a stretcher structure that has William& Mary feet. There ar no chips or problems with the wood. The leaves to extend on either end drop down and pull out, there are normal wear on these leaves as they slid back in under the table ends. This came from an estate of a well known Benicia family, Benicia was the original capitol of California. This is in original condition, I have left it in it's original patina. I have had this for 45 years. The side board/buuffet measures: 67" long, 38 1/4 High, 20" deep. A few scratches on one side and one on one of the drawers has a gouged area. Table and chairs are not as sturdy as the other 2 pieces but dont need work for usage now. I have had and used for 20 yrs. Apartment livin now and no room. As you see. The hutch can be used as a tv stand or dresser. Is deep. All nicely finished. A few dog scratches in the dining hairs. 1930's Antique Mahogany dining set, handmade table and 8 chairs
This one-of-a-kind set of a gorgeous mahogany dining table and 8 chairs that my great-grandfather had commissioned in the early 1930's. The table stands on 2 pedestals. Each with w/3 brass clawed feet. With the help of 2 leaves(included) the table expands to 12 feet in length! It is in EXCELLENT condition. The chairs are as follows: There are 8 chairs total. 6 regular and 2 for the head/foot of the table and they have arms. They are 100% hand made from the strongest mahogany, I've been sitting on these chairs for as long as I can remember(about 35 years) and they don't even creak! Notice the intricate carving on the tops of all the chair backs, it's unbelievable! This set should not be passed on. It's a beautiful, original design and you will not find anything like it, anywhere!
