It looks very nice. If you look closely for flaws. You'll see the following issues. See the pictures. The top cabinet has a few chips to the edge of the vaneer on the left side where it comes in contact with the base cabinet. The finish on the left and right sides has some wear. Kind of like fading or weathering down toward the bottom. This is more visible in bright light. The base cabinet has several scratches on top and one good scrape due to the top cabinet being pushed around when put on top or adjusted over the years. The majority(including the scrape) is hidden by the top cabinet and what emerges out from under the top cabinet faded quite a bit when I applied Old English polish. Check out the pictures. The right hand cabinet door was pulled off and reattached at some point. This can be seen if you're looking for it(see my picture) The door looks fine. 9-Piece Antique Queen Anne Formal Dining Suite Ornate Carved Walnut , Burl Faced
I am pleased to offer for your consideration. This exquisite antique Queen Anne Revival Formal Dining Suite in hand-carved walnut with mirror-matched burl facings. This NINE-piece ensemble includes a China Hutch. Buffet, Table, and Six Chairs. This Suite was manufactured for and sold by Jos. Mendleson, Inc. Fine Furniture, 686 Main Street, Buffalo, New York, and I believe that it dates back to the 1930's-1940's. This Suite is magnificently styled in the Classic 1740's Queen Anne fashion. With sweeping lines, and bowed legs, profusely adorned with hand-carved ornamentation featuring the classical Palmette Anthemion Motif. It is REAL hand-carved wood. And it is masterfully executed! As far as the Condition: The Seat Cushions are the Original Velvet Brocade fabric in the Palmette Motif. And they NEED to be Re-upholstered. In fact, ... morethe previous owner removed two of the cushions and tried to'DYI' Don't worry. they didn't get far with the project. And I have ALL the original seat bases, padding, and even the removed original fabric. I am certain that whoever buys this suite will want to select just the right fabric to work with their decor scheme. The condition of the wood and finish is in surprising good condition. The finish is original.There are some minor little dings and scratches. And yes they are MINOR and few and far between. The worst being on the lower legs of the chairs, and even that is not very noticeable, and a little scratch cover or lemon oil would probably take care of it. The'sheen' of the finish on the China Hutch is a little uneven, sort of'blotchy' but you only notice it at certain angles. Overall I would rate the finish at 90% +. The carpentry is in wonderful shape, both structurally and cosmetically. Everything is tight and solid. I can find no repairs. All the solid brass hardware and fasteners are original. The white spots in the table picture on the chairs are blurs from my camera. Features: Table has a hidden. Self-contained leaf; leg segments(three legs = segment) can be detached for transport. Chairs: two straight chairs and two arm chairs. Arms are interesting split. Buffet and china cabinet have etched mirror panels. China cabinet has three shelves. Top two with plate grooves, and two lower cabinets. Buffet has three drawers(top is divided for silver ware and accessories) and two shelves in right and left lower cabinets. Both buffet and china cabinet have etched mirrored inserts. Dimensions: Table = 32" high. 40"x53" without 7" leaf. Chairs = seat 18" high ... more18" wide. 16" deep, 37.5" at highest point of back. 54" center post single round table with multiple leaves hidden center leg supports table when leaves are installed. Top has a crack and white stains needs some repair. There are five regular chairs and one master chair with arms, all are in the Chippendale style. The Large sideboard(buffet) with 4 drawers and 2 bowed doors. It has one chip on the front top edge and rub on lower left front leg. Bowed glass china cabinet has three glass shelves.A mirror in the rear, two doors and a large drawer in the bottom. The glass shelves have a few chips in the edges of the shelves but the wood is in good shape. Serving table has 3 drawers 2 small on top and one large below. Van Sciver Dining Room Furniture Suite
Our Van Sciver Dining Room set is an example of sesquicentennial furniture produced in Camden. New Jersey in the late 1920's to very early 1930's. In 1926 Americans celebrated a 150 year anniversary. During this time furniture producers and decorators were competing to produce pieces reminiscent of the country's beginnings. This set combines the sturdy construction of the Jacobean style from the 17th century with early 20th century production techniques. This Dining Room Set appears to have been produced in a combination of Walnut and Burl veneer. The set consists of the following pieces: 1. A dining room table that measures 42" x 60" at 30" high. It opens to 84" by adding two(2) leaves. The table includes the original pads for it at any desired length. 2. Five(5) matching dining room chairs with upholstered ... moreseats. These have been re-upholstered within the last 10 years. The fiddle back chairs are in varied condition from poor to good. The missing parts of the fiddle backs for those chairs that I describe as being in"poor condition"see photo detail) are included. The chairs need work to restore them. Therefore chairs along with rest of the set will be SOLD"as is" 3. China Closet with two(2) shelves and a glass door with stylized wood screen. There is a full working linen drawer below the cabinet. This 9 piece suite dates back to 1910 made by the The America Furniture Company in Martinsville Virginia. There is a paper stapled under the table that say"Refectory Table" The leaves are attached and pull from underneath making the table 7 feet long. It's very ornate and definitely a one of a kind. The suite for its age is in great shape. The chairs probably show the worst wear. The table does have some minor scratches in it but cover nicely with oil. I purchased this set over 10 years ago. This is a beautiful suite is thought to be Dutch Revival by Parsons School of Design. It consists of a refectory style table. 60”L x 41 ¾”W x 30”H with one interior fold out leaf, five(5) side chairs and one(1) arm chair all with upholstered seats, a locking china cabinet with hand carved with burl inlay, 41”W x 18”D X 61 ½, and buffet with hand carved with burl inlay, 66” L x 22”D x 36”H. Condition is excellent. This furniture has been in my family since its inception. It has had many decades of TLC. The set is in excellent condition for its age. There are a few tiny bumps here and there on the insides of drawers or cupboards. The chairs need the joints reglued from time to time. Antique (1910's) SEYER Walnut 9 Piece Dining Room Suite
This Dining Room Suite has been in my family for three generations. Sadly the 4th generation is not interested in it so we are offering it for sale. The suite is currently stored in Campbellford Ontario. The set was made in the 1910-1920 decade in New Hamburg Ontario by the New Hamburg Furniture Company. The set was refinished in the 1990s and was valued at $10.000 without table insert. The original insert for the table has been missing for over 30 years. A replacement was made but it is now missing. The table has a gear trestle for opening and closing. There are six chairs one being a captain's chair with arms. The captain's chair was damaged at the top of the chair back when a young boy carved on it with a bread knife. 1920's Berkey & Gay 10 peice Dining suite with original papers
This original Berkey& Gay Dining Suite(THE COMARES) comes with a large hand painted sideboard and medium sized buffet along with a hand painted china cabinet and dining table with 2 leafs. 5 chairs and one arm chair for head of the table. I have the original papers that came with this set when purchased in the 1920's. Their are some condition problems such as a few scratches on dining table and feet on most pieces are chipped from moving due to the age of the furniture. This is a beautiful suite to have displayed in a very nice home to show off the detail of the furniture maker. Each piece has the brass inlay to show its originality.
