I was unable to locate any manufacture or date on the furniture other than on the bottom of the chairs which most likely was a re-upholster tag. Although considered common furniture in the 1920s-30s it is an excellent example of detail and craftsmanship. This type of furniture was made by many different manufacturers and sold by many different stores; so finding an exact manufacturer might not be possible. The more common furniture usually was not stamped by any manufacturer. Possibly made from bass wood or common wood. Would like to sell as a group. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. We bought this very nice dining table and chairs at a antique furniture store in Southport. England(about 7-8 yrs ago) when we lived there. It is a very nice solid wood table. May be Mahogany or Walnut not sure(it has a dark stain with a hint of red in it) The Cabriole legs are ornate with ball and claw feet. Carvings of(acanthus) leaves and flowers. The chairs are padded(removable) and have a tan flowered material on them. Chippendale style. The top of the table comes unscrewed from the base. Our family has outgrown the table for 4 and we are now selling it. It has had one of the chair backs broken, but it has been repaired. It has a few dents in the table top wood(no stain missing though) But overall is in beautiful shape. Sorry we do not know more about it. This dining room set was my grandmothers. She purchased it in the mid 1940's before I was born. The furniture has been in storage since she passed away in 2004. My taste in furniture is more rustic so I have no use for this furniture and I'm sure she would want me to find someone who would love it as much as she did. The furniture was refinished in 2008 but due to being moved it has sustained a few scratched and nicks. Nothing that cannot easily be repaired. The table is 38" x 72" with the leaf. The leaf is 16" There are some small scratches and a nick on the chairs. The rose fabric was put on over the original green and beige striped fabric. FABULOUS DINING ROOM TABLE AND CHAIRS BEAUTIFUL ART DECO DINING FURNITURE FROM FRANCE CIRCA 1930s The rectangular table extends out on either end by leaves built into the table When leaves are not in use the table measures 39" x 51" and is 29" tall With both leaves fully extended the table measures 91" x 39" Each leaf is 20" in length. The main table top is free from scratches or damages. The table legs and base are also free of damages. The extensions have some surface scratches that do no detract from the appearance of the table when fully extended. There is a deep scratch on one of the leaves which I have shown in one of the photos. It is located near an edge and is not readily apparent. Six oak chairs with solid pressed and scalloped backs are also included. The backs consist of three layers of pressed and ... moremolded oak and are 1/2" thick. They measure 20" x 14" and the seats are cushioned with padding covered with naugahyde and measure 18" x 16" The chairs are also in very good condition. There is a small nick on one chair back that is not readily detectable and one of the cushions was nicked by something sharp prior to when I bought the set. They can easily be recovered if you would prefer a different look. I believe that with furniture such as dining sets. The scrapes and scratches acquired over the years lends character to the piece. I purchased the set in the exact same condition it is in today. I have owned the set for about 7 years. But for most of that time it was rarely used. Up for auction is an antique Old Hickory drop leaf.Gate leg table with 6 Old Hickory chairs. The table measures with sides down- 24" X 42" each leaf is 21" by 42" and the height is 30" The overall measurement with the sides up is 66" X 42" This is a great set I have had it for over 20 years and have never really had a place for so it was in a closet along with all the chairs. There are a couple little marks on the table top but otherwise it is fantastic shape. TIGER OAK ANTIQUE DINING TABLE / 6 CHAIRS COMFORTABLY SEATS 12 BEAUTIFUL
Up for sale today is a beautiful antique tiger oak dining table and six chairs. This table was purchased in the late 1800's/early 1900's by either my great great grand fa ther or my great grandfather(they had the same name) who lived near Chicago. Illinois. This one comfortably seats 12 and will seat more if you care to get closer. I do not know if the chairs are original to the table. They do match and they are the only chairs I have ever seen with the table, but I was not around in the 1800's. The table is in wonderful condition as it has always been used with the original. Thick table pads protecting it and a table cloth over that. My family ha ve always been non-smokers. So there are no burn marks or yellow marks. The table needs a good cleaning, that is all. The chairs show more wear as they don't have protection like ... morethe ta ble. They are still used daily. The cushions have been replaced over the years and are now a fruit pattern. The last picture is of the store label holding the table for my great great grandfather(or great grandfather) This label is still in place under the table top. The table was purchased at Carson Pirie Scott& Co. This is an expanding table with four 10" leaves for adjusting t he size. At it's smalle st. The table is 54" round. At it's largest. It is approximately 94" long. The pads are made in sections so fit whatever size you wish the table to be. Pictures show the table at its smallest. Its largest, and also with three leaves in place. The mechanics for adjustment work smoothly. There are wheels on the base of the table and it rolls easily. Please look carefully at the pictures. This table is well over 100 years old. In my opinion. It shows very minimal wear for its age, but it is not"like new" Please keep in mind that the chairs, having been used for these many years, show much more wear than the table. There are no markings on either the table nor the chairs. The table closed is approximately 39" L X 30" W. Extended is approximately 63" L X 30" W and 29" Tall. The chairs are approximately 35" Tall, 17 1/4"W(measured at the top widest part) X approximately 16"L(measured from the front to the rear of seat) The seats have been re-done in a mauve/velveteen type of material. Don't know how long ago! There a little dusty from storage and probably ... morecould use refreshing. There are a few specks on some of the chair seats, not stains but I think it's the way the velveteen material is. Can't really make out for sure. Tried to get a picture but so small, it doesn't come out in the pictures. Very minor but did want to point it out. The chair seats pop out easily, so if you didn't like the color of the material on the seats, would be easy to replace! There is also, an engraved rose/design on the top front part of the chairs. Please Refer to Pictures for Clarity and more Detail! On the back frame of one of the chairs(below the white dot shown in the picture) is a tiny little hole where a small wood knot use to be. The table top has some minor dings due to normal use and for it's age. It must be close to 100 years old! The oak on the table and chairs is a mixture of light/dark wood. There is one small spot on the table top that is darker than the rest of the table- it's in the wood! All part of it's character!
