I can't find much information on the style or age, so maybe someone in Ebay Land can enlighten me. This group is oak and has a beautiful patina finish due to the age and wear. It is in very good condition and has been in the same family for years. The chair seats have the original upholstry tacks and most likely the original fabric. They are also in very good condition with some minor wear. There is a host chair and 5 side chairs. All have high carved backs and the host chair has upholstery on the back as well as the seat. I am pleased to offer for your consideration. This exquisite antique Queen Anne Revival Formal Dining Suite in hand-carved walnut with mirror-matched burl facings. This NINE-piece ensemble includes a China Hutch. Buffet, Table, and Six Chairs. This Suite was manufactured for and sold by Jos. Mendleson, Inc. Fine Furniture, 686 Main Street, Buffalo, New York, and I believe that it dates back to the 1930's-1940's. This Suite is magnificently styled in the Classic 1740's Queen Anne fashion. With sweeping lines, and bowed legs, profusely adorned with hand-carved ornamentation featuring the classical Palmette Anthemion Motif. It is REAL hand-carved wood. And it is masterfully executed! As far as the Condition: The Seat Cushions are the Original Velvet Brocade fabric in the Palmette Motif. And they NEED to be Re-upholstered. In fact, ... morethe previous owner removed two of the cushions and tried to'DYI' Don't worry. they didn't get far with the project. And I have ALL the original seat bases, padding, and even the removed original fabric. I am certain that whoever buys this suite will want to select just the right fabric to work with their decor scheme. The condition of the wood and finish is in surprising good condition. The finish is original.There are some minor little dings and scratches. And yes they are MINOR and few and far between. The worst being on the lower legs of the chairs, and even that is not very noticeable, and a little scratch cover or lemon oil would probably take care of it. The'sheen' of the finish on the China Hutch is a little uneven, sort of'blotchy' but you only notice it at certain angles. Overall I would rate the finish at 90% +. The carpentry is in wonderful shape, both structurally and cosmetically. Everything is tight and solid. I can find no repairs. All the solid brass hardware and fasteners are original. First off. We are not furniture dealers. This beautiful antique set has graced our home for over 20 years. Time goes by and we are downsizing, so it's important to us that this set end up with someone who will appreciate its beauty and respect its workmanship as much as we do. What we do know is that this piece is very well built. It's all tongue and groove. This set is solid oak with a medium finish. The parquet top is solid. Not veneer. The piece is heavily carved with gorgeous detail. The legs are curved with carved detail. Pictures do not do this set justice. The flaws mentioned are mostly hardly noticeable. This is a gorgeous solid-wood hand-carved dining room set was purchased new by my grandfather in the 1930s. We once heard this style called Alfonso XIII. The table is 62 inches long by 40 inches wide and spaciously and solidly built for six people. There are two pull-out side-leaf extensions. Each of which adds 17 inches(For possible table sizes of 79 X 40, to seat 8 or 10) and 96 X 40, to seat 10 or 12. Included are two custom protective table pad covers. The protective pads are perfectly functional and usually covered with a tablecloth(tablecloth not included) There are 5 chairs. One of the five is a"captain's chair" with armrests. This is simply a beautiful. Ornate, hand carved oak dining table made in the Jacobean/Elizabethan era style. It comes complete with 6 matching chairs, one of which is a captain's chair. It has been extremely well cared for, after all it's over a hundred years old! The bottom of the table top has been painted black, so i cannot find any markings that might indicate who made it, or the exact year. It has been reenforced with some sturdier brackets underneith. It's in fantastic shape. Two of the chairs are not featured in the pictures, but are included. The seats will need to be recovered as the threading is coming apart, but all the oak is solid and beautiful. For sale is a beautiful antique Spanish hand carved dining room set. This set has 10 chairs. With leather upholstery with castle and lion pattern. The doors of the cabinets have elaborate carvings of Spanish European castles, knights, etc. See pictures to appreciate the detail. The table and two side boards all have matching carved claw feet with wrought iron decoration at the bases. It is a stunning set. The table has two built in extension leaves that allows it to expand to a total of 122 inches. Without the leaves being extended, the table is 66 inches long. You can also extend only one leave to make it 94" The dimensions are as follows: Table 30" high. 40" wide, and 66" long(when extended 122" Side board one: 97" long. 52" high, and 23" deep. Side board two: 68" high. 45" wide, and 19" ... moredeep. Given that this set dates to the thirties or forties. It certainly shows signs of use. Each of two leaves is 12 wide extending it to a generous 78 inches long. Arm chair is 40 inches high at back. Seat 20 wide x 17 deep. Side chairs 40 in high at back, seats 17 1/2 wide x 15 deep. All seat heights 18 inches. I'm not an antiques dealer. This is a family heirloom from my Grandparents home. I am the second owner. I wish I knew more about it. No readily visible maker's mark but must be marked somewhere on one of the pieces. I will look again when I return to the estate. Set includes the extension table with pull out leaves. A stunning dining room set with a king's chair. 6 chairs total, china cabinet and small buffet server with drawer. Formerly owned by a designer for Christian Dior, he drew a fashion sketch on the underside of the table. I purchased it from Michael Gallagher of"Gallagher's Fashion Archive" The extension for the table slide out from underneath. Berkey and Gay 1930's Carved Oak Dining Set 5 Chairs Buffet
This oak dining room set bears the make of Berkey and Gay and the Simmons Co. Who bought Berkey and Gay in 1929 and owned the Co thru 1935. The set has been in my Chicago family since the 1930's. Some may call it a Jacobean style, but I think of it as Art Deco. The table measures 60 inches long and 40 wide. There is a built in 18 inch leaf on each end which adds another 3 feet. There are four chairs, the fifth with arms. The seats are covered in a turquoise cotton and are not original, but easy to replace. The buffet stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 3 feet 9 inches across. It has one long drawer and then two shelves inside the bottom drawers and the pulls are original. Because it is at least 80 years old, the set has some chips and could be refinished. Antique Jackobean 8 ' x 44" hand carved wood dining room set with 10 chairs
Here is a showstopper of a dining room set. It has been in my family for 60 years and my grandmother bought it off a family friend that was a farmer in the Arcadia/Buffalo County area that had owned it for 55 years prior to selling it to my grandmother. I do not know anymore history on this set besides the fact that I know I would love to keep it. Unfortunately. I am moving into a smaller house and have no room for it. The table measures 8 feet long by 44 Inches Wide. I forgot to measure the height of the table. But can if needed. It seems to be a relative normal table height. It comes with 10 chairs and the table. I do not know if I can find the antique lace placemats we had. But if I can they will come with it as well. Great original 9 piece set in excellent condition. Ready for the finest interior. Purchased by original owner in 1929. Made by and bearing original labels Union furniture co. Rockford ILL. Top of the line in it's time. Solid oak including 46"w. blind china closet with heavily carved removed columns, 46" w. server with matching cut corner front, refractory table measuring 30-1/2"h x 64" x 40" plus(2) 16" slide out leaves, and 6 chairs just upholstered 2 years ago. Includes recent custom made table pads. NEEDS NOTHING. This beautiful set was just acquired from a prominent, spotless smoke and pet free estate.
