Vintage 1890 1900 Parlor Guitar The Prize American Guitar JHF Foote Rare Project
J. Howard Foote Parlor Guitar Project JHF- American Guitar- The Prize" This is from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. From my research I found that this guitar was made for J. Howard Foote Musical Instrument company. J. Howard Foote was in business in NY and Chicago from around 1835 to 1905. The specialized in orchestral instruments but also sold guitars. They were also the sole proprietor and maker of the Bini patent guitars(which this is not one of them) The logo inside is in excellent condition. and reads- American Guitar- The Prize" J.H.F. The guitar is in pretty good condition and would be very easy to restore. The first few pictures are how I found the guitar. The guitar was setup unusually with a tailpiece. Which is probably not original to the guitar, and the strings running through holes that were drilled in the bridge ... morepins. I removed the bridge which had come unglued and replaced it with a cheap plastic part I made. I did this just to setup and play the guitar. All original parts are included(the bridge and few bridge pins) The tuners are in nice condition. The neck is straight, and it plays pretty good with my cheap bridge. The back is sepearting from the sides very slightly in a couple of places near the bottom of the body. The neck is a"V" shape. There is a hole drilled in the headstock, I made a medallion to match the label inside that fits into the hole, it is plastic but painted gold and looks very nice on the guitar(see the last picture) Shipping will be $30

Tiny American-made Fly Reel ca. 1890-1900 A9M9
I think this reel is probably a trade reel manufactured by American Net& Twine just before the turn of the last century-it bears all the indications. But is unmarked, so that's just a guess; you can look at the photos, and make up your own mind. It has a strong, loud constant click, will display nicely, and is in excellent mechanical condition. Enamel10 Antique Enameled Pre-Revolution Silver Thimble Russian* Circa 1890-1900 This solid silver thimble has delicate twisted wire rimmed compartments filled with colorful enamel and it has been lightly gilded. The Russian silver mark is th e 84 zolotnik mark indicating 875/1000 pure silver and the crossed anchor crest to the right of it is the mark for St Petersburg(c. 1890s) It also has the maker's mark. Probably for Otto Pettelius. It is gilded inside. The condition is mint with not even a needle mark and the enamel is perfect. This is an Antique Singer Treadle Sewing Machine Foot Pedal Assembly. This will fit Singer treadle sewing machine frames from the 1880's to 1900's. This is the style that connects to a wood pitman arm and is typically found on Singer models 15. 27 and VS2. It is in good working order. The foot pedal measures 13-3/8" at the pins and is 9-3/4" deep. Not including the area where the rod connects. Includes all mounting screws. Washer and pin to hold pitman arm in place. I think this is an American painting and probably from a trained hand, but not a recognized or listed artist. In any event it has nice promise as a period decorative piece. Sitting on a spreading foot base with a foliate border, it also has it's original ivory insulators. Monogrammed DPL in gorgeous hand engraving on one of the two cartouches. Has lovely patina. One condition issue it has is that the lid does not quite fit down flat but that can be repaired easily. Hinges, Hardware ~ Circa 1890-1900 Unit Measures 50” x 43 ½” x 26” ~ Stored in Smoke-Free Home This is a once-restored antique oak roll-top watchmaker’s or jeweler’s bench from between the 1890’s or 1900 or so. It is in very good condition and shows normal wear and tear for it’s age—over a decade—100 plus years. As shown in the photos. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. All original drawer pulls, hooks, hinges, hardware, and the canvas catch are intact and fully functioning. The roll-top piece ... moreworks well, rolls easily, and engages a set of drawer locks when closed. We do not have a key. The unit measures 50” H x 43 ½” W x 26” D. Workbench height is 39” from the ground. All wood is solid oak. This bench has a tambour shaped roll-top that completely covers the work area when closed. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. This antique roll-top jeweler’s bench does not include the original watchmaker’s lathe. Driving pulleys, treadle, or other related machinery. I originally purchased this beautiful piece in Pennsylvania over thirty years ago. It may or may not be a J.H. Rosberg Manufacturing Company make from Chicago. Illinois. Nine beautiful valentines from the late 1890's- early 1900's. I bought a whole collection over 30 years ago from a woman who grew up in Boston and received these valentines when she was young. Most of the valentines have some problem with them(see photos) Some are honeycomb. Some are mechanical and some are diecuts. These could be used for scrapbooking or to repair other valentines. Original Stevengraph presented in a gilt frame. Thomas Stevens silk woven picture- original title"Full Cry" featuring a fox hunt. The(untitled) mount is probably not the original one(although old) but is professionally produced. One of several Stevengraphs I am listing this week- do have a look at the others. The frame size is 8.5x5.5 inches Date: Early1880-1900(later grey green mounts were produced by the company in the early 1900s) The word Stevengraph was coined by Thomas Stevens of Coventry. England who adapted his jacquard looms to produce multi-coloured images in pure silk. Silk bookmarks were produced from the early 1860s and the pictures and portraits from 1879. Fewer and fewer are appearing for sale these days so they are becoming quite scarce. Mr Stevens had many rivals but his weavings are considered to be the best. 1890-1900 German Porcelain Mantel Clock - Royal Bonn Case - Ansonia Clock Compan
For sale is a stunning porcelain German mantel clock that dates to 1890- 1900- case made by Royal Bonn for the Ansonia Clock Company. It is 11" tall at highest point. 4" deep and 7 1/2" wide. This clock belonged to my mother so I know little about it- I had it appraised on-line and that appraisal is noted below in full. There is a crack in the face which the appraiser was aware of and also a very small chip on the rear foot of the clock. There was a pendulum inside which I have included a picture of- I am not sure if it belongs with this clock or not. The landscape is handpainted- made by the Art Pottery company Poppelsfdorf or F.A. Mehlem- best known now as Royal Bonn. I am pricing the clock below the lowest appraisal amount and well below the insured value. See details in pictures and the appraisal below. I love the little handpainted landscape with the watermill and the rushing millrace. The perfect visual metaphor for the unstoppable flow of time. It's also a refreshing change from the usual floral decoration one sees on these. It was made by a celebrated German art pottery company called Poppelsdorf or F.A Mehlem in honor of the father(Franz Anton Mehlem and hence those initials F.A.M in the monogram under the crown) of the two founding brothers Paul& Everard Mehlem. The factory was located at Poppelsdorf/Bonn in Westphalia near the famous clay pits of the Saar Valley. The Mehlem brothers production began in 1840 out of the bones of a much older factory that had existed from the eighteenth century and that was sponsored by the local nobility. The"prince elector" of Cologne, one, Clemens August von Köln. Indeed. The word"Royal" was added to the backstamp in the year 1890 as a tenuous acknowledgment(not to mention deliberate marketing ploy) of the royal sponsorship that had ceased over a hundred years before. RARE ANTIQUE BERNARD WARDLE GLAZED COTTON CURTAINS/ FABRIC– LATE 1890’s/ 1900’s This is a pair of fabulous un-lined antique/ vintage curtains by‘Bernard Wardle’ made using a beautiful lightweight glazed cotton fabric with a wonderful rural design; they have been gathered and secured with tape at the top i.e. not adjustable as they are and come with a small ruffled topper. It was obvious that these were very old so I did a little research to get some background… It seems they have a long. Quite complicated history but, established in approx 1875, the Wardle family owned& managed 2 dye-works + 1 textile printing works– from 1896 Bernard& his brother took over as managers and designs were registered in Bernard’s name(as seen on the selvedge of this fabric) From 1901 designs were registered in the name of Wardle& Co. which dates this ... morefabric to late 1890’s/ early 1900. These are absolutely fabulous- lovely quality and with a charming design that looks wonderful when hung– alternatively the fabric could very easily be used for other projects… CONDITION: Listed in the condition recieved apart from a light wash. These are in excellent general antique/ vintage condition with no holes, marks or damage that I have found– they are still in very strong, very usable condition despite their great age, just have a small amount of very faint discolouration on the inside edges. The only thing I should mention is that the sides on 1 of the curtains needs re-stitching as it was obviously undone to reveal the selvedge info SIZE: Curtain- Top width = approx 62 cm. Hand gathered and dug himself in the Olney dump. It is a medicine bottle. It says s. b. h. and company. He informed me the bottle is froom 1890's through the early 1900's. I am not a clock collector and know very little about them. This and one other clock I have listed were bought at an estate sale in Birmingham. Alabama. From what little I know this is a Seth Thomas clock. OGEE clock- An"ogee clock" is a common kind of weight-driven 19th-century pendulum clock in a simplified Gothic taste. Made in the United States for a mantelpiece or to sit upon a wall bracket. It is rectangular, with ogee-profile molding that frames a central glass door that protects the clock face and the pendulum. The door usually carries a painted scene in the area beneath the face. Ogee clocks are one of the most commonly encountered varieties of American antique clocks. It is very old. Made around the turn of the century. Yes that is old! It is a 24 hour movement. It does work well. The face appears to be hand painted. Very minor and few scratches if any. I have been told about the sensitivity of these clocks; It seems that it would be difficult to ship any of these clocks without possibly needing some adjustment on arrival. Antique greeting cards with soldiers in a Boar War Era from 1180 to 1902. There are 11 various cards. All of them have a New Years greeting somewhere on the card. All cards are old and some are damaged to some degree. These pictures have been around for over 100 years and they instill a feeling through their theme of those colonial days where the British empire was present on the continent of Africa. There are several with sailors on their ships, some have guard duty as the theme, some have leisure times as the theme. Some have theme of romance and some political suggestions of the Irish question and the African situation with hints of these matters. Start-up Auction Price: $1.800.00 ~ Pickup in Palos Hills, Illinois RARE Antique Oak Roll-Top Watchmaker’s Jeweler’s Bench Desk Very Good Condition ~ Original Drawer Pulls. Hinges, Hardware ~ Circa 1890-1900 Unit Measures 50” x 43 ½” x 26” ~ Stored in Smoke-Free Home This is a once-restored antique oak roll-top watchmaker’s or jeweler’s bench from between the 1890’s or 1900 or so. It is in very good condition and shows normal wear and tear for it’s age—over a decade—100 plus years. As shown in the photos. There are also some surface scratches, dings, paint speckles, and staining on the canvas catch cloth. This lovely watchmaker’s bench has nine drawers. Two deep cabinets or cupboards with doors, two drop down oak sides, and a canvas catch drawer. All original drawer pulls, hooks, hinges, hardware, and the canvas catch are intact and ... morefully functioning. The roll-top piece works well, rolls easily, and engages a set of drawer locks when closed. We do not have a key. The unit measures 50” H x 43 ½” W x 26” D. Workbench height is 39” from the ground. All wood is solid oak. This bench has a tambour shaped roll-top that completely covers the work area when closed. Each side drops down by unhooking hooks to provide an even larger tabletop surface which measures 60” across. One of the cupboard enclosures was specifically designed to house watchmaking and jeweler’s tools; the other enclosed the flywheel for the treadle. This antique roll-top jeweler’s bench does not include the original watchmaker’s lathe. Driving pulleys, treadle, or other related machinery. I originally purchased this beautiful piece in Pennsylvania over thirty years ago. It may or may not be a J.H. Rosberg Manufacturing Company make from Chicago. Illinois. Finding one of these original oldies but goodies. Especially one with a functioning roll-top, is rare these days. This is a beauty! It appears one has the number 14 engraved into the porcelain. See Photo the mark is faded on one vase but very clear on the other. The decoration is exquisite-fuchsia Japanese Iris and foliage with delicate gold detail. Both vases measure approx 6" tall and 4 1/4" wide or 15 cm high 10 1/2 cm wide They are in great shape with no cracks or chips. These are from my Aunt's(that lived in New York) collection! Notice the small butterfly in front of the birds beak. Decorated in ex actly the same colors as the bird. The composition is bordered by a floral desi gn in higher relief. Or cleaning. The plate has already been washed. There is also some light wear a t the high points and 2-3 undecorated spots in t he f ront. Probably caused by the kiln supports of stack ed up plates. Beautiful Solid Oak Antique roll top desk. Lock hardware engraved: Patented 1886 Corbin Cabinet Lock Company" a well know Connecticut hardware manufacture. Excellent Condition. Must see. Pick Up only. An outstanding Victorian"S" curve quarter-sawn oak rolltop desk has warm deep color and patina. The finish is excellent. With just enough character and mars to show its age. The roll operates smoothly. Inside are cubicles, a tiny drawer and letter holders on the sides. Two banks of deep drawers have dovetailed joinery, there is a large file drawer and two pull-out shelves. Paneled and finished all around. This antique furniture shows superior American craftsmanship from around the turn of the century. The upper section is removable for easier moving.

Plate Johnson Brothers England Parliament Ottawa 1890 1900 Antique Collectable
This is an old plate my mother gave me. She guessed that it is from the 1890s and is worth $50. She put a white sticker on the back for me to reference. It is white with a textured raised design on the rim of the plate that you can feel with your fingers. The middle of the plate is a cobalt blue picture of the Parliament Buildings- the bottom at 5 o'clock reads: Parliament Buildings Ottawa- this is a bit fuzzy. On the back it reads under the crown. Johnson Bros. England. The Old Dominion. The plate is 7 inches in diameter.There are a few marks and chips and I have tried to include a picture of each of them. The inner picture ring is 4 inches in diameter. I have described it to the best of my ability but please ask any questions. I do believe the plate is an antique.
