OH. I was told the stool was known as a"House Crier. and were typically given as a bonus when a furniture was purchased and the"house crier" part was due to the tripping hazard they presented. Whether this is true or not, I don't know but I thought it interesting so I thought I'd pass that on with the sale of the item. This little stool is still in good shape even though it has a crack in the wood that goes from side to side on the back side that shows evidence of being glued. I looks like this ... moreis where two pieces of wood were joined when it was made but I don't know that for sure and mention it for accuracy. I bought it in this condition and have had no problems with it so I don't feel that stool's sturdiness appears compromised in anyway considering its' use is simply to raise one's feet while seated. I did notice that one leg has a different mounting bracket than the other 3 but is a perfect match otherwise to the other 3(see photo) One of the wooden ball finials is missing. Lastly I reupholstered the stool 25 years ago with a period appropriate fabric design to match a chair I had as shown in the last photo. Here on offer is a wonderful rare antique Victorian carved and upholstered footstool with a concealed warming pan. This delightful little stool features beautifully carved details around the walls and rests on four lovely turned feet. The stool has suffered from woodworm. But this has been treated and cured. The stool ha an upholstered top that has been secured with brass pins. The footstool has a lid with a simple brass catch and handle. Once opened the footstool reveals a concealed warming pan. The brass pan is original to the stool. It has a ribbed upper surface with a handle and stopper on one side. The pan contains something heavy and would be warmed by the addition of hot water. Multi layer shellac needs stripping and re-finish for optimum aesthetics. 13" diameter top 7"1/4" height off the floor. Antique Edwardian or Late Victorian adjustable piano bench. This is a very unique bench the mechanism that adjusts the height is completely hidden within. Also. As the sides rise there is no gap; instead the mechanism is concealed from view. Raises and lowers smoothly via two round knobs on either side that need to be turned. preferably simultaneously to prevent damage to the mechanism. The bench appears to be solid Mahogany with what looks like original fabric. The fabric is damaged in several places and will need to be replaced. The seat lifts to expose a compartment for music books. 30" wide x 26" tall On one side molding is not attached. But is available with the bench(needs to be tacked back) the back molding(long) is missing. There are dings and dents and scratches to the finish. Please see pictures. There certainly is some finish loss due to use and age. No cracks. Missing pieces, or repairs. Some of the joints could use some gluing attention. Great detailing on the legs and side pieces under the cushion. The fabric cushion is in pretty good shape on the top. Some minor spotting that we have not attempted to clean. Antique Victorian Gold Cast Iron Claw Foot Upholstered Piano Organ Vanity Bench
This is an excellent. Heavy duty antique cast iron upholstered vanity bench marked"Pat Appl'd for, W.H. Howell Co. Geneva Ill" on all four legs, and the feet are numbered, but only two of them are readable; one is numbered 5 and the other is numbered 6. The decorative crests on the front and back are marked"Pat Appl'd For" both numbered 930-8, one with the number 1 underneath and the other with the number 5. It is very well built with a rectangular cast iron frame under the cloth-covered wooden seat(the legs attach to the rectangular frame and the frame is screwed to the seat. The seat has a separate matching cushion that sits on top. The upholstery on the bench and the cushion are very old. But I don't know if they are original to the piece. It is a faded avocado green, especially faded around the edges where ... moreit has become almost tan instead of green, but there are no holes, tears, loose fabric, or threadbare spots. The gold finish on the frame and legs has been re-painted and has some scuffs and light wear. The overall dimensions of the bench are 24" L x 13" W x 18" H. The legs will be removed so it can be shipped flat. And partial reassembly will be required. It will be packed very well and insured during shipping.

Handsome antique upholstered footstool or ottoman with thick curved wooden moldings and cabriole legs. Dark wood not sure maybe Walnut or Mahogany? Measures 16" high x 23" length x 15" width Has pretty blue and olive green floral with light beige background tapestry upholstery(has some wear and several pulls and small holes. See photos) Wooden trim is rich and thick. It does have numerous small nicks/dents in the wood. And the finish is very worn on the feet.
