For sale 1870's Piano Bench that raises and lowers by the Knobs on the ends of the stool by way of the metal mechanics under the seat. This was very avant-garde for the period. Adjustable piano bench were round and turned on the wood corkscrew dowel attached to the seat. The wood which I believe to be walnut is in. EXCELLENT dark stained condition and has never been painted. The seat was recovered but I believe was just put over the original seat as I can still see the strapping underneath. It has a cast iron mechanism rod in the middle so when you spin the seat you can make it rise up or down. It works with no problems and adjusts from 19 1/2" up to 26" in height. Stool has its original black painted finish and original upholstered mohair cushion. Probably had velvet ribbon covering the tacks around the edge of stool. But that is missing. The seat size measures 16 1/2" x 12 1/2" and the overall condition is very good. Reupholstering it is up to the new owners. Vtg 1870's antique 19th century wood foot stool with needlepoint flowers
It is 4"H and 12"L x 9 1/2"W. Some balding areas on the needle point. That would be expected considering it's age and intended use. The previous owner added eye hooks and wire to the back so it could be hung on a wall for display. These can be simply unscrewed to remove but it will leave 2 small holes on the back. The pad is filled with horse hair. and there is a tear on the back cover. Those are not cracks in the wood on the sides. They appear to just be a natural part of the wood and was always there.
