Vintage Antique Signed Piano Organ Stool Adjustable Claw and Glass Ball Feet
For your consideration is a nice maple wood piano stool. The stool is marked"TONK CHICAGO NEW YORK" on the cast iron threaded seat support. The stool is very solid and adjust in height from 19 1/2" 25" and has a 14 1/2" diameter seat. The glass balls on the feet are free of anh cracks and chips. The stool has had the seat reglued and overall refinished at some point in its past and surfaces have a smooth sealed finish. There is a color variation on the base of the stool. Almost looks like shadowing in the finish, not sure what it is but it does look nice. I took lots of pictures of different sides so you can see. I have wiped the stool down and given it a hand rubbed wax finish, so it is ready to use. This item is estate fresh and ready for a new home. This is an antique highback swivel piano stool/chair. It was made in the late 1800's by Tonk- Chicago& New York. This chair is in very good condition for it's age. Very sturdy. it has the glass ball claw feet. It's a very nice piece of furniture to have for your collection. Max Tonk, born in Berlin in 1851, went with his family to Chicago in 1857. He learned to carve and worked in his uncle's piano and organ factory carving embellishments of the instruments. In 1873 he opened his own carving shop supplying the Chicago cabinet industry with fancy ornaments for cabinets and caskets. In the 1880s Tonk Manufacturing began to make swivel seat piano stools for the growing musical industry. WONDERFUL antique Victorian era mahogany piano stool with metal eagle claws clutching glass ball feet.very deep mahogany color& surface patina shows alligator texture that comes from age. There is surface scrapes& wear down to the bare wood in places. Particularly on the seat.the center stem& legs/ spindaes show a beautiful column& circle design. The metal eagle claws show nice line detailing. Clear glass ball feet show minor chips but in very good condition& the bottom of the glass feet have a flat edge. The support posts are in very good condition but there seems to be a finial missing on the center post bottom. The seat had a cover on it at one time. Would look great with a needlepoint! From what I've learned, the company started making piano/organ stools in the late 1800's thru the early 1900's. It swivels up and down. At its' lowest height it measures 19 1/2" tall.14 1/2" wide(seat top) IF you screw the height up it measures at LEAST 24" It's NOT perfect.looks in great shape for the age, it has three splits on the veneered top of the seat. The top seat shows very little wear. It has that original wood varnished look to it on all of it other than top of the seat. HOWEVER. I am no expert by any means it is definitely an ORIGINAL piece and well worth the effort. Unlike the reproductions.this one is MARKED.AND EMBOSSED with the makers mark into the metal on the underside. This has been relaquered or varnished and repaired sometime in it's life. The repair is to the top board under the seat that the legs attach to. It looks like it was cracked and glued there and then some extra braces put on it to increase the strength. It feels sound and solid and easily held my 300 lbs and you should have no problems with it. They are on the underside so do not show in use. I saw no other damage and everything is tight and sound. Up for sale is an original Lyons& Healy Piano Stool from the 1800's. Has 4 glass ball metal claw feet. Lyons& Healy Chicago is on a metal piece underneath the seat. The seat has 3 two inch cracks around edges. Which is to be expected for a piece of this age. Can be restored or kept the way it is. Measures 18 1/2" tall, 14 1/2" diameter seat. Lyons& Healy originally made piano music in 1864. But then there were 4 fires, on of them the"Great Chicago Fire in 1871" which destroyed their records. They started making pianos and organs in 1876 so I am assuming that this could have been made then, since it does look like it is from the 1800's They then turned mainly to musical instruments, particularly harps. Up for your viewing and bidding pleasure are 4 Old Style Piano Claw Feet& Glass Ball Legs with Metal Screw Stool Hardware. With these items you can either repair an old 1900s piano adjustable stool or you can make one yourself. The stool was broken so I cut off the legs and removed the hardware. All are in great condition for their age and all you have to do is remove the screws that attach the metal designed legs to the wood and you’re ready to add them to a stool or make one yourself. The metal legs are 4 inches long and the stool metal base is 5 2/8 inches square. The threaded piece that goes into the base unit is about 7 ½ inches long x about 1 ¼ inches in diameter. Antique H D Bentley Piano Organ Stool UNIQUE Glass Ball & Claw Head Feet Chicago
Up for auction is beautiful antique Victorian adjustable piano/ organ stool. This stool dates from the late 1800's and was made by the HD Bentley company. The company was founded in 1879 in Freeport. IL, and began offering over 60 styles of stools from their"new" factory on E. Van Buren Street in Chicago in May of 1893. Signed with iron nameplate: H.D. Bentley Freeport Chicago The wooden stool has nice turned legs. Wonderful feet with glass marble balls and a unique dragon/ head claw shape. The glass is visible trough the two eyes and at the base. The piece is 19" high(lowest position) and adjusts to 24" high. And measures 14" at the base and the seat is about 14 1/4" wide. See enlarged photos for condition. Seat swivels easily- although makes a little noise. There are no cracks or large chips in the wood. ... moreAll pieces are original and solid. The feet are intact. The base is 15" tall, the height is 19- 25 inches This antique 19th century American Chas Parker Co. adjustable fumed oak piano stool is in excellent condition overall. The glass ball feet are not exactly claws. More like a porthole or eye design which is very unique. If you look carefully you might notice minor wear to the seat top and the glass balls show some typical wear and minor chips on the underside. There is a screw missing from the mount seen in picture 8, someone screwed it into the bottom of the seat for safe keeping. I tried it in the hole but it just spins. This stool has been professionally refinished with a mahogany finish. The cast iron has been polished and left plain. Each claw foot holds an old glass ball with air bubbles. The glass is ground flat for a level surface. The cast iron is in great shape and the stool is very sturdy. This could be considered Ball and Stick styling with all of the wood turning done. Measures 14" wide x 20" tall in a normal height. It extends up to 25" and is still sturdy and lowers to about 18" at its lowest. Interesting to note: Charles Parker is a very famous antique oil lamp manufacturing company. Their lamps are widely collected. For sale is a beautiful antique/vintage Charles Parker Glass and Claw Foot Organ/ Piano Stool. It is in excellent condition. Made of solid maple or cherry(It came from CT, and I'm not very good with my woods- maybe you can tell for sure) The detail of the back and legs is very appealing. The stool moves up and down with ease. This stool saw very little use, mostly in storage. The diameter of the stool is 14" the back is 12" tall and 16" across. It is 36" from the top to the bottom. Absolutely beautiful piano stool. I am fairly certain the wood is mahogany or that it was refinished in cherry mahogany. It's in amazing condition for its age. Only has some minor wear on the claws and glass balls. I do not know the make. The metal parts on the inside refer to an AM& CO out of Massachusetts but that might just be the makers of the hardware. I estimate the age to be late 1800s-early 1900s. Stool is adjustable and turns well. Perfect for any living space. Will look great with your piano. VICTORIAN HAND BEADED 1800"s ROUND FOOTSTOOL. Stunning Round needle point footstool with small glass beads. Has been well thought out for this design of three Beaded ROSES in full bloom. And smaller flowers also in beads. Done on a dark green tapestry material with mustard yellow mixed with greens for the leaves. Hand made by a person with talent, as is beautifully laid out and made. Very small area that has missing beads. on outer bouquet.Wooden base of inlaid wood is two Inches Deep thee round feet tightly attached. The base has 1 1/2" of inlay band missing. On other side is a split in wood that is 4" in length- Runs from bottom- up 1 1/2" across 3 1/2: than up 3/4" With all of that the stool base is very solid and usable as a foot stool Measures 11" across 4" high Nice high rounded top. round wooden rim ... morehas inlay. Three feet on bottom. Nice size and was used in elegant homes by the ladies of the house in living rooms or there bedrooms. Very Feminine! I suspect that this piece was not used very often.
