Decent Mid 1800's Antique Empire Style Foot Stool
I picked this up some time ago because it is in decent condition has great age and a good look and I believe it to be Empire style. The material is not bad and the black spot is a little hole with black thread that would be very easy to color. I did not want to try to hide it and this would be very easy to reupholster to whatever material matches room best if desired. It features stout turned legs with a matching apron and an upholstered top with rolled ends, each of the ends with a beautifully stamped brass rosette. The fabric could be the original covering- it shows wear from use especially along the edge where it is worn through exposing tacks beneath it- please view the photographs. Vintage American Empire? Flame Mahogany footstool. I am not sure about the date. But I believe it is pre-1900. In good condition, but with some nicks and blemishes which you can see in the pictures. The fabric is of course not original and underneath that is a chintz flowered fabric. But what is underneath the flowered fabric I do not know because I have not taken it apart. Check out this beautiful mahogany foot stool. It does look original. Not refinished. Has the flame look to the wood that was typical with this style footstool. The wood is all there and in pretty good shape. Some loss of veneer and some dings from years of use. No cracks, missing pieces, or repairs. The white upholstered cushion is in pretty good shape on the top. The fabric shows some wear and dirtiness. But still all there. What is really cool about this piece is that it is stuffed with sawdust which was the old way of padding material. No holes ... morein bottom, but you do see residue when you move it around. Pretty cool! And check out the great metal casters this footstool is on. My guess is that they are not original to the footstool. Probably had not casters before. I see no maker's mark on this piece. Estate find amazing antique Empire mahogany piano swivel stool bench 1800s old
Up for sale is this estate fresh empire piano stool it is in amazing shape measures 14 inches tall and swivels up higher with ease by spinning it. It has no cracks or repairs very solid and heavy all original with a great mahogany base. the fabric on top has some holes but underneath is what I think to be an older fabric as well which looks solid but I do not want to pull off the first fabric as people like things original. Here is a great Empire or Eastlake style Piano Stool for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an auction. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Nice looking mahogany piano stool frame. What makes this stool real unique is the detailing to the legs and the finials. Have not come across one like this in a while. Old stool here. I would expect it dates to before 1900. The seat has obviously been re-cushioned at some point in the past. The stool has a great looking embroidered cushion top that is tacked on. Great design of flowers in a vase on it. Then has a green colored suede fabric on the sides of the cushion. No musty or mildew smell to the seat. The fabric ... moreis certainly dusty and needs a good cleaning. Beautiful mahogany frame with carved in Empire or Eastlake style designs. Four of the pressed on circular"doughnut" trim pieces are missing on the sides of the legs. See pics. The cast iron screw on the seat and the receiver on the base are intact and original. No repairs. I do not see a maker's mark on the frame or metal pieces. The stool is 19" tall(22.5" when screwed up all the way) By 17" across at widest part of the seat, and 17.5" across at the legs. The mellon colored cover on this piece is near perfect, wear is minimal. Made of beautiful Mahogany the footstool measures 17 3/4 wide and 11 inches deep and stands 7 inches in height. This simple user dates from the 1830s-40s and simplified classical form with scrolled platform/feet and brass topped central column. It measures 20” tall(as pictured; it will rise another 4 inches with screw adjustment) x 15” across the feet and is crafted of tulip poplar and pine with mahogany crotch veneers. The stool is sturdy and it could uses some wedging/glue where the pillar attaches to the platform. You will note numerous old chips and losses on the feet and the top is a 1970s crimson velvet.
