This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. There is light surface rust in a few places that should be very easy to remove. It is around 18" tall, and the legs are 18" apart at there widest points. This is a very nice piece! Offering for sale a Authentic Antique J. Briggs Piano Stool. The underside of the seat base plate has the following stamped into it's steel plate: J. Briggs. Warran, Ind. October 23, 1866, Piano Stool, Dec' 10, 1867, Patent Peterboro, N.H" I'm guessing one of the dates is the'Patent Date' and the other the date of actual manufacturer. However, I'm not an antique expert so I really am guessing? It is authentic and original. Except for the wood seat which is made of plywood. Someone along the stools long history has replaced the wood seat top. All the bolts, and the wood pedestal appear to be original, including the three iron legs. I believe the legs are made of cast iron? The wood pedestal has a pretty large crack in it, so it would have to be repaired if you actually intend to use it for sitting. The wood is ... morerough, I would be rough too if I were that old. Hehe! I'm really looking for a serious buyer who can restore this beauty or leave it intact with the intent of preserving its history. This is a very nice antique PIANO STOOL BASE ONLY. The base is made of wood with 3 cast iron legs. Each of which has a bird on the top. The base is in good condition with a few minor cracks in the wood but does not appear to effect the structural integrity of the stool. You are buying this base only without a top. It measures approximately 16 inches tall and 15 inches wide from the bottom of each leg to the next. There is a metal threadded insert in the top of the stool to accommodate a seat.

Victorian piano stool, original tapestry seat, wood and cast iron foot stool
This is a wood and cast iron Victorian piano stool but could also be used as a foot stool. This is a Victorian original probably made sometime in the late 1800's. The base is made of solid wood with a dark stain and the seat is upholstered with either the ORIGINAL tapestry or a replacement from very near the same time period. The tapestry is that of an urn with flowers in it. And both the tapestry and the fringe are in great, usable shape. Such an old historic fabric in such good shape, is rarer than the stool itself. There is a small part of the cast iron base plate that is missing but it does not affect the stability or function of the stool. The seat is stable and spins freely. As it should. This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. Rare Antique Cast Iron Legs Briggs Piano Organ Stool Bench
Made by the Briggs Patent Portable Ottoman Portfolio Piano Stool- Patented April 28th. 1868 and Aug 31st, 1869. Briggs' Manufactory of Portable. Patent Piano Stools- This business was commended in town, in a small way, by Joshua Briggs, in 1862. He made, at old jobs, one dozen of piano-stools in 1863, accupying the basement of Robert Day's shop, near'Wilder's Manufactory, North Peterborough. In the spring of 1864 he rented the second story and attic of'Brennan's Building, in the village, and continued them until the whole building was too limited for his vastly increased business, when he purchased the saw-mill of Mark Wilder, and erected for his manufactory, in the summer of 1873, his present large and commodius buildings. The progress of his business was gradual, from making a dozen piano-stools by himself, as in ... more1862, 63' and then with hiring one or two hands a part of the time, to his present condition. He now employs, when the business is good, from twenty-five to thirty hands in the shop, and at the same time hires all his iron-work, castings, screws, etc. done outside. Mr Briggs has secured five several patents on his piano-stools; two on the screw style, two on the ottoman style, one on the portable back. The Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics' Association, Boston, in September, 1869, awarded to him a diploma and honorable mention of his piano-stools. In September, 1871, at the New England Fair at Lowell, Mass, a silver medal was awarded him for his portable piano-stools. Overall good condition. Ornate cast iron legs. Wooden painted frame shows some minor wear and paint loss. Hinges appear to have been replaced. Stands 19.5" tall at its lowest point, seat is 14" and distance between legs is 12" It was touched up at one time and there is a little gold paint on the legs at the base of the claw feet and some random varnish drips on the underside of the seat base. There is also a thin sliver off along the side of the underside, and a very light circular scratch on the seat that covers well with lemon oil. please see all pictures for best description. This really is an amazing old antique stool. I am guessing mid 1800's. It is rather heavy. Solid wood, possibly Mahogany or? Cast iron legs with detailed design. Adjusting seat base, but is not currently working(see pics) Threads in the base see to be reamed out a little, but could be fixed. There is a water mark where I put my coffee cup by accident(see pics) but could be restained and fixed easily. There is a small crack in the seat, but I have been using this chair in my shop for the last year and no problems. Would be great in your home/ office/shop. Please email if you need measurements. There is long crack line in the bottom of the seat. and the center support has a crack as well. the Seat material is worn and the straw under it is exposed in places. Antique Charles Parker Adjustable Piano Stool Wood w/Cast Iron Glass& Claw Feet This antique wood piano stool features an adjustable swivel seat with cast iron claw feet with glass balls made by Charles Parker& Company in Meriden. Connecticut in the 1800's. The swivel seat adjusts from approximately 18.5" to 22" high. It does make a squeeking noise when adjusting the seat back down but works smoothly. The stool is in very good antique condition with some tight splits in the seat. There are several smaller splits and one that goes the entire length of the seat. None of these interfere with the integrity of the piece. The seat has no wobble or movement because of the splits. The entire stool is sturdy and no major flaws are noted. From an estate. Very nice ANDREW'S PATENT APPLIED FOR twisted wire adjustable organ/ piano stool as shown. Very little wear. Just a hint of rusting in the leg clamp area as shown. 14-5/8" diameter seat. Seat has one flat area on the lower trim edge. On one side, possibly from the factory. Seat adjusts from 18-1/2" to 24" height. Threads are in good condition. As with all of these types of stools, it gets a little wobbly the higher the seat is set. Please ask any questions. This is a very old stool marked Pat May 6. 1873 underneath. The legs are ornate and made of cast iron. Where the seat attaches it read on the metal Geo.W Archer, Rochester N.Y. Pat May 6, 1873. The stool measures almost 19" tall and is 15.5" across the top. It looks like it was recovered at one time, then that removed to reveal the original cover. The inside of the top of the stool has STRAW in it. I did not want to remove this. It would probably be best to recover this leaving what is on there now underneath. Shipping will be calculated. This is a wonderful vintage piano stool with a rectangular padded seat. It swivels and is height adjustable from 20" 25" There is a black wooden base with 4 legs. And a metal and cast iron pole attachment. The cast iron attachment reads" Pat'd Nov 22. 1881" It's in good solid condition with normal wear such as some scratches and dings. It most likely has been repainted and reupholstered over the years. The seat would be easy to unscrew and recover if you desired.

I have up for sale a drop dead gorgeous vintage/ antique circa late 1800s to early 1900s Victorian Era Mahogany Original Finish Adjustable Height Swivel Seat Piano Stool. The design of this example is just that much nicer than most others- it has a fluted center pedestal section with matching fluted splayed legs- cast iron claw feet/Eagle Talon Claws with glass ball centers.
