Vintage Antique Signed Piano Organ Stool Adjustable Claw and Glass Ball Feet
For your consideration is a nice maple wood piano stool. The stool is marked"TONK CHICAGO NEW YORK" on the cast iron threaded seat support. The stool is very solid and adjust in height from 19 1/2" 25" and has a 14 1/2" diameter seat. The glass balls on the feet are free of anh cracks and chips. The stool has had the seat reglued and overall refinished at some point in its past and surfaces have a smooth sealed finish. There is a color variation on the base of the stool. Almost looks like shadowing in the finish, not sure what it is but it does look nice. I took lots of pictures of different sides so you can see. I have wiped the stool down and given it a hand rubbed wax finish, so it is ready to use. This item is estate fresh and ready for a new home. From what I've learned, the company started making piano/organ stools in the late 1800's thru the early 1900's. It swivels up and down. At its' lowest height it measures 19 1/2" tall.14 1/2" wide(seat top) IF you screw the height up it measures at LEAST 24" It's NOT perfect.looks in great shape for the age, it has three splits on the veneered top of the seat. The top seat shows very little wear. It has that original wood varnished look to it on all of it other than top of the seat. HOWEVER. I am no expert by any means it is definitely an ORIGINAL piece and well worth the effort. This has been relaquered or varnished and repaired sometime in it's life. The repair is to the top board under the seat that the legs attach to. It looks like it was cracked and glued there and then some extra braces put on it to increase the strength. It feels sound and solid and easily held my 300 lbs and you should have no problems with it. They are on the underside so do not show in use. I saw no other damage and everything is tight and sound. Up for sale is an original Lyons& Healy Piano Stool from the 1800's. Has 4 glass ball metal claw feet. Lyons& Healy Chicago is on a metal piece underneath the seat. The seat has 3 two inch cracks around edges. Which is to be expected for a piece of this age. Can be restored or kept the way it is. Measures 18 1/2" tall, 14 1/2" diameter seat. Lyons& Healy originally made piano music in 1864. But then there were 4 fires, on of them the"Great Chicago Fire in 1871" which destroyed their records. They started making pianos and organs in 1876 so I am assuming that this could have been made then, since it does look like it is from the 1800's They then turned mainly to musical instruments, particularly harps. 4 Old Style Piano Claw Feet & Glass Ball Legs with Metal Screw Stool Hardware
Up for your viewing and bidding pleasure are 4 Old Style Piano Claw Feet& Glass Ball Legs with Metal Screw Stool Hardware. With these items you can either repair an old 1900s piano adjustable stool or you can make one yourself. The stool was broken so I cut off the legs and removed the hardware. All are in great condition for their age and all you have to do is remove the screws that attach the metal designed legs to the wood and you’re ready to add them to a stool or make one yourself. The metal legs are 4 inches long and the stool metal base is 5 2/8 inches square. The threaded piece that goes into the base unit is about 7 ½ inches long x about 1 ¼ inches in diameter. Up for auction is beautiful antique Victorian adjustable piano/ organ stool. This stool dates from the late 1800's and was made by the HD Bentley company. The company was founded in 1879 in Freeport. IL, and began offering over 60 styles of stools from their"new" factory on E. Van Buren Street in Chicago in May of 1893. Signed with iron nameplate: H.D. Bentley Freeport Chicago The wooden stool has nice turned legs. Wonderful feet with glass marble balls and a unique dragon/ head claw shape. The glass is visible trough the two eyes and at the base. The piece is 19" high(lowest position) and adjusts to 24" high. And measures 14" at the base and the seat is about 14 1/4" wide. See enlarged photos for condition. Seat swivels easily- although makes a little noise. There are no cracks or large chips in the wood. ... moreAll pieces are original and solid. The feet are intact. But there is wear to the glass marbles. Three of the four have minor chips on the top- and all have bubbles and a few scratches. I have not attempted to clean the glass balls. The larger pieces measure about 5 1/8 inches total size with glass balls diameter around 2 1/4 inches Glass balls have some small damaged areas but not enough to take away there beauty and strength. The smaller set measures a total of 3 1/4 inches long with glass balls 2 1/4 inches diameter. The glass on smaller feet are in great condition. The base is 15" tall, the height is 19- 25 inches This antique 19th century American Chas Parker Co. adjustable fumed oak piano stool is in excellent condition overall. The glass ball feet are not exactly claws. More like a porthole or eye design which is very unique. If you look carefully you might notice minor wear to the seat top and the glass balls show some typical wear and minor chips on the underside. There is a screw missing from the mount seen in picture 8, someone screwed it into the bottom of the seat for safe keeping. I tried it in the hole but it just spins. I am not certain where it came from originally, but this is a very nice solid oak piano stool, with adjustable seat, lovely glass ball and claw feet, and very nice design. It has very minor wear from age as we were not allowed to sit or play on it. I searched for a name or maker and only could find an incised number in the bottom of the top of the stool. This stool has been about 90-99% stripped with the intention of refinishing it. The owner was a older gentleman& he just never finished the restoration. It is solid& level& adjusts as normal. This stool has been professionally refinished with a mahogany finish. The cast iron has been polished and left plain. Each claw foot holds an old glass ball with air bubbles. The glass is ground flat for a level surface. The cast iron is in great shape and the stool is very sturdy. This could be considered Ball and Stick styling with all of the wood turning done. Measures 14" wide x 20" tall in a normal height. It extends up to 25" and is still sturdy and lowers to about 18" at its lowest. Interesting to note: Charles Parker is a very famous antique oil lamp manufacturing company. Their lamps are widely collected. This is a Victorian Piano Seat with Clawfeet. This stool is in relatively good shape but needs some tlc. The glass balls might need to be changed and the wood needs reconditioned. I'm not sure how this chair is supposed to work but the metal piece might be broken. But when the seat is on it seems to swivel just fine.

I bought this late 1800's Holtzman Glass Ball and Claw Piano Stool. The top of the stool looks like 3 single pieces of oak pressed together. The metal claws and Glass Balls are in very good condition. It is adjustable from 19 1/2" to 24 1/2" in height. The seat goes up and down very smooth. It also look like someone has re-done the stool. Only has some minor wear on the claws and glass balls. I do not know the make. The metal parts on the inside refer to an AM& CO out of Massachusetts but that might just be the makers of the hardware. The company was founded sometime in the 1860's by Henry Holtzman in either Pittsburgh. PA or New York City, New York. Sources differ on this point. In 1893 the business was moved to Colombus, Ohio and was run by Holtzman's sons Frank and Charles. The business grew to be one of the largest piano stool and piano cover manufacturers in the country. A ready to use item for your home, looks to be recently refinished in a medium wood tone on hard maple. They really don't make them like this anymore. Very sturdy and heavy, weighs in at almost 16 pounds unpacked. Seat measures 15" in diameter, and adjusts from 18" tall to about 23" although it is less stable turned all the up.
