Here we have an antique mahogany constructed screw seat piano or organ stool made by the A. Merriam Company(they made pianos as well) based out of South Acton. Mass.the stool dates back to the 1890s, is very well made, sits very sturdy on the floor with no rocking.some of the features are: seat adjusts from 19" 23"using a hardened steel jack screw to spin the seat up/down. Seat is 14.5" diameter- has brass eagle claw feet.inbetween the talons is a solid crystal glass ball.all these are in nice shape- all spindles and supports are tight. Antique Swivel Piano Stool in Mahogany, with Turned Post and Lion Paw Feet
Beautiful. Unusual antique piano stool in mahogany featuring three superbly turned posts, three carved lion paw feet and swivel seat. All original, including the finish. The stool seat measures 13" in diameter, and the spread of the feet is the same. At its unextended, the seat height is 20" At its extended height, while maintaining a secure balance, it's 25" much above that would likely put stress on the swivel mechanism. As it is from the Victorian era. It shows a little bit of age here and there but is in excellent antique condition. As you can see in the last picture, and as I mentioned in the"condition description" it has an old blemish or scrape on the edge of the seat. Rare Antique Victorian Mahogany 1878 R W Archer & Bro. Piano Organ Stool LOOK!
This is a very old R W Archer& Bros piano stool. I obtained this from an estate sale in Ohio. This stool is solid and has a nice weight(over 15lbs) I believe the wood is Mahogany but I am not 100% sure. The stool works as it should and swivels up and down. I bought it to restore but it has been sitting for about a year and it has become apparent that is not going to happen. The seat needs replaced and recovered and there are some nicks and wear(please see pictures) This stool is as I found it and I have done nothing to it. It is marked may 6 1978. Only has some minor wear on the claws and glass balls. I do not know the make. The metal parts on the inside refer to an AM& CO out of Massachusetts but that might just be the makers of the hardware. I estimate the age to be late 1800s-early 1900s. Stool is adjustable and turns well. Perfect for any living space. Will look great with your piano. Decent Antique Red Mahogany Glass Clawfoot Piano Stool
I picked up some nice items last week at the Brimfield show and wanted to get some more neat things into the shop to try to jumpstart sales a bit. This is in very good condition and the bottom frame legs and stringers are solid with no repairs and holding strong and straight. It is a bit different in that it is a second in a way because the adjustment platform is not turned all the way around when it was lathed way back when. I did not notice it until He was lugging it back to the car. I have sold everyone of these I have ever purchased and offered so I always try to purchase when I can reasonably and with the sturdiness and decent finish of this one I like it. The seat is 19.5" tall. The stool is complete. And in generally good condition. The seat does not rest evenly, and is on about a 5 degree angle. This is easily corrected by putting pads/castors on the underside of the feet to level it off, or the proper fix would be to separate the seat from the base and re-level it. Antique English Victorian Mahogany Vanity Bench Piano Organ Stool Window Seat
This beautiful piano bench was made in England. Most likely in the late 1800s, possibly very early 1900s. It is made of solid wood, which I believe to be mahogany. It has a beautiful rich medium tone, reddish brown in color. The wood has a beautiful grain which I have tried to capture in the photographs. Underneath the seat is a cast iron mechanism that allows the seat to be raised or lowered using the knobs on the side. The mechanism was made and patented by the Marsden company and is in perfect working order. The wood on the underside of the stool and part of the mechanism is stamped"Marsden's Patent LEEDS 542. See photos) The bench features splayed legs. With lovely turned designs. It is well made and very sturdy, suitable for daily use as a piano bench or vanity seat. The cushioned seat has been replaced and recovered in a gold ... moreand beige fabric, but could easily be switched out to match your decor. It is in good condition, no stains. The bench weighs approximately 14 pounds. And measures 19 inches tall, 21 inches wide, and 14 inches deep. When raised to its maximum height it is 22 inches tall. CONDITION: This is an antique piece. And as such it does have signs of wear. There are small nicks and dents that do not affect the structural integrity of the piece(please see photos for examples. I feel these marks, which are visible only on close inspection, serve to further illustrate the true antique nature of the bench. There are no major damaged areas and no missing pieces. I have up for sale a drop dead gorgeous vintage/ antique circa late 1800s to early 1900s Victorian Era Mahogany Original Finish Adjustable Height Swivel Seat Piano Stool. The design of this example is just that much nicer than most others- it has a fluted center pedestal section with matching fluted splayed legs- cast iron claw feet/Eagle Talon Claws with glass ball centers. The stool is very strong and sturdy. It weighs approx 16 lbs as you see it, and in its lowest position stands approx 18" tall. The seat measures approx 13-3/4" diameter. There is no maker marks but it is quite possible that it was made by Holtzman& Sons- Columbus. Ohio. It is in Very Good Original Condition- please view all pics and read the above condition report. This A. Merriam& Co. stool is in beautiful condition with little to no signs of wear. All fittings are solid and it has a gorgeous finish from the top of the seat to the end of the spindles. The glass ball feet are being held firmly by iron talons. The cast iron cross support that the seat rests on has the words"So. Acton Mass.Massachusetts) and"A. Merriam& Co" embossed across them. This stool could be used practically or kept in the home as a display piece. I found this being owned by a nice old New England man who kept it for only how it looked in his living room. This simple user dates from the 1830s-40s and simplified classical form with scrolled platform/feet and brass topped central column. It measures 20” tall(as pictured; it will rise another 4 inches with screw adjustment) x 15” across the feet and is crafted of tulip poplar and pine with mahogany crotch veneers. The stool is sturdy and it could uses some wedging/glue where the pillar attaches to the platform. You will note numerous old chips and losses on the feet and the top is a 1970s crimson velvet.
