The colour is darker on one of the footstools and a little lighter on the other one. A few hairline scratches but the finish is semi-gloss and in great condition. The hand-stitched needlepoint is done in wool yarn and glass beads. The background colour is a soft magenta and one footstool is a little darker than the other one. Around the edge. The colour is purple. All the beadwork flowers are multi-coloured. And there are some missing stitches, but the fabrics are solid. The footstools have the same bases. Antique - Victorian "Tonk" Piano Stool covered in a Beautiful Needlepoint
This is a wonderful Victorian TONK Piano Stool. Covered in what appears to be a wool hand stitched needlepoint. The needlepoint is in excellent condition. With a beautiful Burgundy colored background surrounding a floral design.The edges are held with hand hammered tacks, also in excellent condition. The legs are tooled wood finished with a metal foot holding a glass ball. Most likely the metal is cast iron.The legs are painted beige in color and do have several chips and dings in the paint. The glass balls also show some chips and wear but are in great condition, considering the age. This appears to be made in the late 1800's. Under the seat stamped in the metal frame are names of two(2) locations: New York, Chicago, and the manufacturer- Tonk. The complete swivel mechanism is not included, the inside threaded casing seems to be missing ... morefrom the stool. The seat part does have the threaded rod. However, you can sit on it. This sweet late 1800s stool features a round wood top trimmed with 12 ball pendants and topped with a colorful hand worked needlepoint cover with peacock center. Ebony Wooden stem with three iron scroll legs with ornate bird/falcon's head at top which gives it a chinoiserie feel. Black painted. From bottom of wood where I believe the lathe was, the black looks original, but may have been touched up over the years. Seat has a unique shape with needlepoint seat cover. From underneath there are other tack holes-may not be original, not sure. Original seat cover may be underneath. There is a visible crack with glued repairs on bottom of wooden seat. Antique Victorian Swivel Piano Bench circa 1872 with a Needlepoint Seat. The base. Stem, and seat trim are all made of Walnut decorated to give the appearance of Rosewood. Three scrolled legs with a carved rod spanning the curves, connect to the center stem which is comprised of stacked bun shaped wood pieces. The legs connect in two places along the stem breaking the bun pattern at these points. The stem is decorated at its lowest point with a bun shaped finial. The base and stem are attached to the seat by a iron plate, which is attached to the wood bottom of the seat. Here there are pressed molds which depict the bench's origin and history; by Geo W. Archer made in Rochester, NY, with a Patent date of May 9th 1872. The base of the seat is a rounded band of wood with two perpendicular fluted lines continuing the entire length. Wonderful Antique Victorian Eastlake - Chip Carved - Needlepoint Footstool
Description Victorian Eastlake footstool. With chip carving, has a needlepoint cover. The expertly stitched needlepoint features a floral bouquet on a brown background. It has a well hidden seam running down on one side. Although the needlepoint has some age to it, I suspect it's not original to the base. The footstool was well made and is strong and sturdy. It measures approximately 15.5" X 15.5" and is 13" high. The wooden base has turned legs. With incised bands. Scuffs are present on the legs, but still hold the stain/finish. Here is a rather unique item. Or hard to find at best. It is a foot stool with a pedal that lifts the lid, inside is a spittoon. The top is needle point with a deer head in the center and a somewhat aesthetic look around it. There is wear, some damage, and fading to the material. The spittoon is white ironstone which has general all over crazing, some staining, and a chip in one of the rectangular pieces that is on the top. The wood is in good overall condition with some wear ans loss of finish. The pedal lifts the lid, it is in working condition, but the lid has some wiggle in it when raised up. This sale is for a great antique walnut Eastlake Victorian foot stool. Made around 1880 and in a good shape for age. Please look at all pictures as they are part of the description. Handmade needlepoint with brass tacks and in perfect condition. A really great piece. Nice patina with some normal age wear to the wood. One old repair to one leg, but it's all good and tight.
