This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. There is light surface rust in a few places that should be very easy to remove. It is around 18" tall, and the legs are 18" apart at there widest points. This is a very nice piece! PLEASE TAKE TIME TO REVIEW THE ADD AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!

This is a Vintage New York TONK Wooden Piano/Organ Stool/Bench/Seat Chicago. In very good condition for its age. Does have visual ware. But is very sturdy! Has a unique gorgeous look! The legs with ball style feet. Feet have scuffs(pic 10) Underside is marked Tonk New York Chicago. Just a gorgeous piece! Measures approx. 18 1/4" tall. Antique Highback Swivel Piano Stool by Tonk Chicago & New York w/glass ball feet
This is an antique highback swivel piano stool/chair. It was made in the late 1800's by Tonk- Chicago& New York. This chair is in very good condition for it's age. Very sturdy. it has the glass ball claw feet. It's a very nice piece of furniture to have for your collection. Max Tonk, born in Berlin in 1851, went with his family to Chicago in 1857. He learned to carve and worked in his uncle's piano and organ factory carving embellishments of the instruments. In 1873 he opened his own carving shop supplying the Chicago cabinet industry with fancy ornaments for cabinets and caskets. In the 1880s Tonk Manufacturing began to make swivel seat piano stools for the growing musical industry. Tonk became the largest maker of piano stools in the country, making the majority of swivel seat stools on the market, including the ubiquitous ... moreround oak stool with claw feet. This classic victorian style piano stool is very pretty. And would make a great restoration project. The bottom frame is composed of cast iron. It is beautifully engraved and features three gorgeous twisted legs that add volumes to the overall style. The seat portion appears to be made of pine. It looks as if it was just the base that a padded cushion or covering was glued to. You can see some of the left over residue from this in the pictures. The cast iron portion is in great shape, with no dents, dings or bends whatsoever. The part that adjust spins up and down quite smoothly. I think it looks different because the legs need a coat of polyurethane. I was going to clean it all up. However I think if I use furniture polish you wouldn't be able to see the difference in color between the top and the base. The finish to the rest of the wood is original with a great'alligatored' appearence. The brass claw and glass ball feet are also in fantastic condition. You are bidding on the pictured antique Tonk Piano Stool with Swivel Seat and Twisted Iron Legs. It is in Very Good overall condition with some signs of wear and a nice original patina. The original wood seat has been professionally repaired on the bottom and there is a small piece of iron missing on the base. See pictures. It swivels from a height of 17 1/2" up to around 21" The seat does have a little wobble to it when swiveled up and it measures 14 1/2" in diameter. The twisted iron legs are in very good condition with no damage. It is marked on the base of the seat Tonk Chicago. Please use the pictures to determine it's exact condition including any wear. This is an Antique Tonk Chicago/ New York. Adjustable Hard Wood Piano Stool with 3 Spindle Legs, 18" tall x 13.5" seat diameter x 17" leg span. Item is in overall good display and structural condition. Max Tonk started making piano stools in Chicago in the late 1880's. I wouldn't date this much past 1900.
