This elegant 1865-80 carved walnut footstool in the restrained Louis XV manner is made of solid walnut with deeply rendered finger molding and finely carved knees on the cabriole legs. It measures 16” tall x 17” x 21” and has an attractive later mahogany-colored finish. There are minor gaps at the joints and some scratches in the finish. I see no bad cracks in the wood and it is sturdy and usable with a very old muslin top cover. Each leg retains its original cast iron and brass wheel/castor.
