French Louis XVI Style Caned and Carved Antique Window Bench or Foot Stool Circa the late 19th Century. Possibly as late as the first quarter of the 20th Century Item# 130001ETR27 This is a beautiful French XVI Style Antique Window Bench. Possibly functioning dually as an antique foot stool. Probably crafted during the years of 1890-1910 during the height of the Rococo Revival period. It is a crisply executed piece. An overall breezy design, leveraging the play of the thin profile and tight formal lines against the bold and deep carvings along the hands and arms, it is a very successful presentation. The arms are molded, carved scales carefully layered along the top to culminate in carved acanthus handholds on all four corners, these are lifted on supports that flow in a single piece of wood from the handhold to the toe. Falling directly ... morebeneath each handhold is a floral display of bold and crisp execution, this flowing into a plain molded stile that squares at the frame, then turns and tapers in a stop-fluted leg terminating in a conical-ball foot. The apron is plain with the twisted ribbon molding wrapping around all sides, framing a tightly caned seat beneath a down-stuffed cushion(the cushion in poor condition) This is a simply gorgeous little antique window bench. So useful in design scenarios throughout the home. I am very pleased to offer this lovely foot stool and that has its body all carved and with a great floral needlepoint top. The piece measures 18" by 14" by 11" and is in excellent condition with no rips or tears in the needlepoint and no repairs or dings in the body or legs. Please look at the pictures and you will see a that this piece was probably hand carved with the flowers and the needlepoint looks as though it was hand done. Fine Items from ALittleUnlimited Description A beautiful antique foot stool in a French style dating to the 19th century. Either from France or the United States. It features graceful hand carving with a fleur de lis on the knee of each cabriole leg and a carved apron. The needlepoint could be the original covering and is quite worn- please view the photographs. The top of the stool measures 13" by 9 1/4" and it is 7 1/4" tall. It is in good condition for its age showing normal signs of wear. One leg is slightly loose- there is one brass tack missing from each side of this leg. You can see that the construction is done with a tenon rather than with dowels. Indicating an earlier rather than later time of manufacture. This is a truly breathtaking piece with an impressive amount of hand carved detail. The seat lifts up for convenient storage space. The floor boards of the bench do have some chipping on the edges. This as found stool is estate fresh and in need od TLC. It measures 9” tall x 19 ½” x 15 ½” and features finger carved/molded hardwood skirt with cabriole legs boasting floral carved knees. The covering on the stool is hand worked wool gros point which is very dirty(some cat hair) and has two slits that require back stitching. There is no staining or bad soiling(just dust and dirt) or moth damage. You will note wear to the finish on the wood as well as some rubs and nicks on the high points. This TINIEST foot stool in a most restrained Louis XV style dates from the 1860s and is hand carved and molded from solid European walnut with original French polish finish. It measures only5 ½” tall x 13” x 8” and could almost be a craftsman sample. The stool is sturdy with no apparent damage or loss or repairs and retains a 19th century wool cover with polychrome glass seed beadwork of roses. Antique French Carved Wood Floral Needlepoint Cabriole Leg Stool
This is such a pretty embroidered needlepoint footstool. I believe this might be French? It is approx. 13 1/2" by 10 1/2" by 8 1/2" tall. It has carved wood cabriole legs with a carved wood floral design on the side. Nice condition-dusty. One sturdy split in the inside of one leg(probably there forever) normal scratches from use. Antique French Floral Carved Rococo Baroque Foot Stool Petit Needle Point Roses
This late 1800s-early 1900s European stool has finger molded skirt with elegant Louis XV scroll cabriole legs and floral carving on the skirts and knees. It appears to be carved from European walnut and has dark old. Dry finish overall with minimal wear. The top boasts original needlepoint with petit point center and velvet sides having worn welting. I see very little wear and loss to the wood and all of the joints are a bit loose. It is sturdy and usable, but wiggles a bit. The 100+ year old fabric is dusty and free of obvious moth damage.
