This understated country pine settle or settee with storage under the seat is sound and sturdy. The old finish has warm antique patina and has been waxed and buffed. There is ONE flaw on this bench and that flaw is clearly shown in the pictures. There is a small chip in the wood on the bottom right part of the front. Right leg. Please look at the picture before bidding. This could, probably, be fixed easily by anyone with some wood carving skills, or with some glue/sawdust mixture that can be molded and painted. That said. This is a pre-1899 made Settee made of dark. Stained wood and wicker. This is NOT a super sturdy bench that can be used all day, but it is not near falling apart either. I would recommend using this as a viewing piece with light use. I would also recommend using this with cushions on the bench part, as you can just never really tell how much stress the wicker can take on any piece of furniture over 100 years old. Beautiful. Antique, 18th century, William& Mary style, settee/ bench in outstanding, sturdy, ready to use, as found condition. Finish appears to be all original, upholstery old, possibly original, but I do not knowis free of any rips, tears or holes, some sun fading in areas and light background has darkened and yellowed in areas with age but sill looks great and givea this piece a wonderful warm aged appearance. Cushions appear to be atuffed qith horse hair or some other fiberoua material. Frame is solid wood and structurally sound and free of any breaks or repairs, there is a spot on the arm that appears someone named james scratched their name into it years ago, I think this just adds to the benches history and beauty, but could easily be sanded out and refinished. This rare cutie measures 26 1/2 inches tall and the width is 31 inches the seat height is 20 inches. The covering is a beautiful seafoam green matelasse material it has a webbed bottom with individual hand tied coils. This listing is for an 1890s to 1900s(pre-1910s) American made Antique Oak Wood Settee/ Loveseat Bench that was purchased by my family over 60 years ago from an elderly woman who was likely the orginal owner. It is made almost entirely of Oak. Including amazing work done to the spiral legs and support pieces. There is a center cushion/ pillow on the back that appears to have been hand sewn and depicts a wonderfully detailed scene of two men performing music for a woman. This is a notable piece of furniture in size as well as design. It's 4 feet across, with a 40 inch sitting space, the arm rests on either side extend out roughly 2 feet and from the ground to the top of the back rest is 3 feet. It sat in my Grandmother's home since that purchase up until her passing in September. It was a decor piece only.
