Ball& Claw adjustable piano stool. The stool turns easily and is in great condition with exception of glass balls on feet which are heavily chipped. The seat has a 14" diameter. Over the years they manufactured a wide variety of productsâes from steam engines, train wheels and printing presses to piano stools. During the Civil War, Parker's Meriden Machine Company was under Union contract to produce 10,000 repeating rifles and 15,000 Springfield rifles. Parker began producing his own shotgun, referred to as The Gun of 1866. ... moreIn 1868, Charles and his sons, Wilbur, Charles and Dexter started the Parker Brothers Gun Company, which continued as an independent company until 1934 when it was purchased by the Remington Arms Company. His wages for the month were six dollars, plus his board. After a year with Mr. Matthews, he worked for Harry and Horace Smith, who also manufactured buttons. In August, 1828, Charles accepted a position with Patrick Lewis of Meriden, Conn. a manufacturer of coffee mills. In 1829, Charles started his own business. He then contracted with Patrick Lewis(his former employer) and Elias Holt to make coffee mills, entering into an agreement to manufacture a certain number of units per month. In 1831 he took in Jared Lewis as a partner in the same venture. In January 1832, he sold his interest in the firm to Jared Lewis, bought some land in Meriden, erected a shop, and went into the manufacture of coffee mills and waffle irons. Lewis& Holt failed in 1833, leaving their market share of mills up for grabs, and Charles seized the opportunity. Toward the end of 1833, Charles formed Parker& White, with his younger brother Edmund, and Herman White. After the financial panic of 1837, the business suffered and was dissolved in 1843. In 1844, on his own again, Charle

Antique Charles Parker PIANO STOOL. Late 1800's/early 1900's production piece from Meriden. Connecticut USA, gorgeous updated finish on an all original solid wood stool(appears cherry) Glass ball footers, ornate metal transition pieces on legs, IMPECCABLY CLEAN AND MINT c ondition. Check out all photos. ULTRA LOW STARTING BID FOR AUCTION. NO RESERVE PRICE! A CENTURY OLD MUSICAL FURNITURE PIECE FILLED WITH HISTORY. BEAUTY, FUNCTION AND VALUE* Stunning. Perhaps the absolute BEST antique piano stool you will find on eBay or any other antique trading venue. Acquired this gorgeous piece a few years back from a fine antiques dealer in Pennsylvania(my total costs exceeded BIN price on this listing) It had been professionally updated. And although I am not able to certify/guarantee their claims, I was assured the piece is ALL ORIGINAL(wood, ... morehardware, feet, transition pieces) Fully functional as a stool with adjustable height, and it certainly has many other prospective uses, e.g. a stand alone accent piece, plant stand, eclectic night stand beside your bed, artistic show/photo backdrop piece, etc. Updated wood finish is warm. Attractive and the woodgrain appears cherry. Glass ball feet with ornate transition pieces add an elegant touch to masterfully turned spindles on this stool's frame. I own several of these period stools and have come to appreciate that keeping 1-2 of these feet/transition pieces loose(as on this stool) vs. snug plays a critical role: enabling the stool to level on irregular floor surfaces. Why did piano stools exist(vs. benches) A very informative website(link below) tells the history of antique pianos. Bench-style piano seating did not replace stools until well into the 20th century. Pianos were predominantly played by women in the family. A stool could readily accommodate the fashions of the late 19th/early 20th century: anything from hoop-skirts to bustles and corsets. Long flowing skirts and heavy tapestry. the piano and organ stools of the Victorian era were means

Antique Charles Parker Co. Walnut Piano Stool c. 1877-1900. AS IS
~ Charles Parker Co. Walnut Piano Stool ~ This auction is for this piano stool. Probably made in the late 1800s. Signed Chas Parker Company, Meridan, CT on the bottom. Sold AS IS because it has one leg that has been repaired, I would say rather poorly. Legs are now a bit uneven. Not what I would call wobbly, just uneven. I would use it as is as a display piece, maybe with a nice Boston fern atop it, but would not use it as it sits as a daily user. I did not test it with my weight. If you are handy, would be a great item to tear down, fix and refinish. Features the clawfoot legs as shown and adjusts to about 24" tall. SHIPPING: I pack well and ship out weekly. For larger items if you need shipping. Please send your zip code before you bid and I will give you exact shipping cost. PAYMENT: I like to get paid within a few days of end of ... morethe auction. If it's going to be longer than a few days before you pay. Please let me know. Thanks for looking and have a great day! My best friend"Murphy"
