It was originally RED on the top, you can still see the original color through the corrosion and rust. In all its natural glory. This awesome authentic dairy barn milking stool makes a great decor piece or photography studio or theater production prop. Sits fine and is still usable and stable. Measures 12" high. Seat is round, 9" circumference. Smaller circle with 1-1/2" star cut out is 4" around in circumference. Finish is rusty with some corrosion. Hardware appears all original. Top of seat is not completely level and straight, it has conformed a little from years of use and has slight bends present on seat, see all photos. Appears to be an all original. Antique 19th century American Paint Decorated Stool Bench Chair Side Table
A nice American green painted stool with thick octagonal top supported by four legs. Nice surface and a wonderful color. A very very heavy example. Original construction techniques including the use of shims to attach and tighten legs. One leg has been broken at the joint and reattached with a nail. Some worm holes consistent with age. The top plank is 11 1/2" long by 7" wide and is extremely thick at 1 3/4" The legs are splayed and original. One of the legs has an old metal wedge/shim for added stability. Revealing earlier colors, and some places even revealing the Walnut wood. MORTISED construction. Arms, seat, etc. SEAT is 2-Board. With the one board approx 75% of the seats width. The BACK SLATS are THICK, solid wood, CURVED to accomodate backs, and mortised into the back board section of the seat. BOTTOM is BRACED by a long. Very vintage condition with a missing horizontal leg-to-center shaft support rod/bar(see 4th& last 2 pics) and has a few chips/cracks to the glass feet(9th thru 11th pics) Otherwise. Very good. Structurally stable and seat swivel works very good. What this piece lacks in condition, it more than makes up for in character! Features very old gold paint over dark brown wood stain(the original finish) and with areas of exposed/natural beige/light tan wood poking through. Both the gold paint and dark stain are amazingly patinaed. Faded and flaked to perfection. Such a fantastically worn look! Heavy patina to all metal. Offered is a significant. Early, primitive stool out of South-central PA with all the right talking points. It has a shaped violin-like seat. It shows very early nails and screws and early tool marks that could only have been made with 19th c. tools. The stool also has the original red color so sought after by collectors. The underneath exhibits early work with early chisel, saws, etc. It is very heavy and the wood would appear to be cherry and walnut or a mixture of both. It weighs 7.5 lbs. is 17" L, 10"w, and 9.5" high. This is without a doubt the best stool we have ever offered. I tried not to buy this bench. But it was too amazing to pass up. It's so finely designed and sturdy and comfortable to sit on. Totally primitive without sacrificing function. But it was the paint and the semi-stretcher around the bottom that did it, I think. The green paint is gorgeous-the perfect shade. Calming, cheerful, naturey. So I did buy it. Offering today a terrific Primitive Step Stool we found at a local farm estate. This great step stool does not have any nails. It is all Mortise& Tenon construction. Still solid but I would not recommend using it as a daily step. This more of a primitive decor item or it would make a perfect child's bench. Measures 12" x 7-1/2" and 9" tall. This piece has true character with age appropriate wear and much of the old red paint still intact. There is a tight crack in the top board which looks like it may have been glued to protect it from separating many many years ago. The paint is very old and was done in layer to create a splatter effect like the graniteware of that same era. Check the underside and you will see strips of paint that might break off. This really does not detract from this awesome early piece from days gone bye. No glue or dovetails. One nail needs to be driven in a little more. One set of legs is a little loose because of it. Antique Wood and leather STOOL chipping paint
Wood and some type of leather footstool. Lovely stool with remnants of white paint. The wood is in vintage worn condition with chipping paint. Surface and edge wear. The leather is also in worn condition with surface wear, a little discoloration and rusted upholstery tacks. Some of the leather is lifting up a bit from the stool in the one corner and some of the tacks are loose. All of this adds to the charm and character of this great piece. Rare Antique 8-Foot Wooden Settle Bench with original black paint and gold leaf flora stencil on back rest. Research shows that The Boston Dispensary was established in 1796 and provided for“medical relief of the poor” in Boston. Massachusetts. The Boston Dispensary was the first permanent medical facility in New England and one of the first in the U.S. Early donors included Paul Revere. And the dispensary eventually merged with Tufts Medical Center in Boston. The bench was found in the Boston Dispensary storage locker of Tufts Medical Center. Hopefully pictures you see show the true color, I took a couple of pictures in the sun the rest are in the shade. Also has some Gold accents on the back(carved scrolls) and front gold flowers(sticker? including the eagle feet. There is some chipping of the paint and the feet has typical wear. Up for your consideration is a great little Stool or Bench with Boot jack legs in original old gray over orginal apple green grungy paint. It measures 15" by 9 1/4" and stands 16" Tall. Has a neat little secret compartment. Probably used as as a shoe shine bench, there still some black streaks shoes polish streaks on the inside. Constructed with screws it dates to 1870-1880's(ship building towns often used screws in construction) Great decorator item to put a stack of firkins on or display other goodies. It is a circa 1890-1920 primitive soda fountain stool. It measures 25-3/4" tall with a diameter of 10-1/4" at the top and 8-1/2" at the bottom. It features a swivel and removable oak wood seat, a heavy cast iron base, four holes in the base where it was once attached to the floor, and old blue paint on all surfaces. It remains in very good condition. There is wear over the entire stool. And the brackets under the seat were moved at some time in the past due to wear and probably becoming loose in their original placement. There is pitting and paint loss on the cast iron base.
