Offered for sale is this gorgeous English art glass finger bowl with the underplate. I believe it was made by Thomas Webb at the end of the nineteenth century but could be another fine Stourbridge factory. The color is deep ruby red with machine threaded decoration. The star-shaped crimped rims are especially nice. The bowl measures 2 1/2" high and 5 1/2" across. The plate is 6 1/4" across. The bottoms have ground and polished pontils. There are no markings. This set is in excellent estate condition with no damage. Wear or restoration found. It is sure to be a very special addition to a collection! Up for your consideration is a beautiful antique T.G. Hawkes& Co. footed finger bowl. The bowl is beautifully etched with a floral and clover design. The bowl looks to be a Steuben blank#1585 that I found pictured on page 323 in"The Glass Of Frederick Carder Book By Paul V. Gardner. Dated 1971" Steuben made blanks for TG Hawkes from 1903 to 1932. I believe this is an earlier piece because of the mark. The mark is acid etched on the foot of the bowl and is shown in my pictures. The bowl measures 5" diameter and is a 1-1/4" deep. The total heighth is 3-5/8" tall with a 3-1/16" diameter base. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is surface wear on the base consistent with age. Thank you for looking. Lovely Gold Aurene Art Glass Finger Bowl, w Subtle Blue Edge.
5-1/8" diameter x 2" tall. Gold aurene, floraform, finger bowl. The extreme top edge has a blue cast. Pontil is ground and polished. It is unmarked. Very well have been made by one of the famous, early 20th century glass houses, but because of the small imperfections was not signed. Condition: There are no chips. Cracks, or other damage, BUT there are several pinpoint sized ash inclusions, on the inside bottom, and on the base near the pontil. Still very pretty. This is a round finger bowl in the popular pattern"Snail" by Geo. Duncan& Sons c 1890. This pattern is also known as Duncan's no. 360 ware. It was made from 1890-1891. This bowl comes from a 4 piece mold. As the 4 lines are visible. There are 2 snails to each piece of the mold for a total of 8 snails. The snails are in very good condition, no chips or scratches. LOVELY VICTORIAN CRANBERRY GLASS FINGER BOWL & UNDER PLATE/LINER
This lovely cranberry bowl and under plate came from a fabulous area estate- people loved anything and everything cranberry. This set had been displayed together for years even though they may be mix-and-match. The bowl measures about 5" top diameter; 2 1/2" tall; 1 5/8" base diameter. This bowl could be STOURBRIDGE. The underplate/liner measures 6 1/4" diameter and 1" tall. The bowl is a solid cranberry color; I found one pinpoint size roughness near the top rim but not on the rim- could have been in the manufacturing. The underplate has a clear center and very outer rim; there is a 1 1/4" cranberry rim that has a dot/thumbprint motif. The plate exhibits a few small production flaws- tiny surface bubbles that have popped and an internal dark spot- see photos please. The opaline glass is translucent with hand painted enameling decorating the plate and bowl with gold gilded accents. There are applied green glass jewels to both the plate and bowl with just one jewel missing from the plate. There are no chips or cracks. But there are a few age rubs(rough areas) to the rim edges on bowl and very shallow flake on plate edge. Both bowl and plate gold gilding to the rim shows wear. Photos display well. Antique Rare Pomona Finger Bowl C1855 Patented Joseph Locke England Glass Works
This blown Pomona 1 st Grind Finger Bowl is from a vast collection of antique glass belonging to an estate of collectibles which spans over 200 years. The item has been preserved in a well maintained environment for display purposes only. This item is in pristine condition. This item is original and not a reproduction. The blue you see in the pictures are just reflection of my shirt! This is a rare and beautiful blown hand crafted1 st ground Pomona Finger Bowl with a folded in triangular crimped rim that is acid etched. The division between the ground portion and the clear portion of the piece is scalloped and the clear glass appears to be in a“thumb print” pattern. The ... morebulbous portion of the vase is 1 st grind as recorded by the collector. The manufacturer was thought to be New England Glass Works and was purchased by the family in the early 1800s. It has been in the family since. And is in excellent condition. There is some bubbling in the glass and some“grind” that can be seen in the clear portion of the glass- however according to the notes that is not an uncommon occurrence with this type of glass making. This coloration is considered light amber. The pontil is smooth and clear. The Antique Trader Winter 1976 magazine(page 85) was referenced by the family inventory and at the time when appraised was considered like but simple and smaller pieces to be valued at around 75.00. Today it is hard and RARE to find Pomona pieces, and the retail market and other internet sellers are selling similar pieces as high as $250.00. The piece measures 3 ½” wide and stands 2 ½” tall. This piece does show some minor fading of the amber coloration on the clear portion of the bowl due to the age of the piece. The process of making Pomona is unique and very labor intense. I thought this was made by Hobbs and Brockunier but someone contacted me and told me I was wrong. Unfortunately they couldn't tell me who made made it. So I went searching and have found a couple that look just like this except in cranberry and they are attributed to the New England Glass Company. It is a Inverted Tumbprint Finger Bowl, circa 1880-1900 and is a sort of an aqua or blue green color. It is 2 3/4" tall and 4 1/2" across the top. There are a couple small air bubbles but no other damage, top is ground smooth. On the bottom there is a criss cross mark lightly drawn and a small swirl. Please look at the pictures. GEORGIAN VICTORIAN BRISTOL COBALT BLUE GLASS FINGER BOWL. Click picture to enlarge This is a deep cobalt blue antique finger bowl with nicely polished pontil mark on the bottom. It has the frosting wear on the bottom consistent with good age. It is about 5 inches across with a 4 1/2 inch top. And stands 3 3/4 inches high. There are some bubbles and irregularities in the glass typical of old hand blown glass. There are some light scratches from use. I believe it dates from the mid 1800s from what I could find from research. The deep blue is lovely. A wonderful piece of Georgian or Victorian glass, a great piece! This is a turquoise blue color with white threads. This measures a little over 5 inches diameter and 2 1/2 inches tall. This is in good condition with some in the making glass inclusions. I have shown one of these hat is a deposit of glass on the interior from when it was hand blown. One of the threads on the base has a small nibble to it as shown in the photo of the bottom.
