The glass bowl is one of the nicest that I have seen. It has fabulous Enamel Decorations, of leaves and floral detailing. It measures approx 12-1/2" diameter. It is in Excellent Condition- I would call it perfect albeit a most minor flat spot on the rim that appears to be a manufacturing nuance, not damage. I have looked at this with a magnifying glass and it is obvious after observing this first hand that it is not a chip but a flat spot somehow done during manufacture. Although extremely difficult to view, I have a pic of the area shown in my last pic. The frame is in Excellent Condition. Made of Quadruple Silver Plate by the Wilcox Silver-Plate Co. It stands approx 10-3/4" tall and approx 12-3/4" across. Both the decorated bowl and the Silver-Plate frame are gorgeous. The item comes direct from the collection of an area advance collector. Sold to me when settling her estate. The underside of the bowl bears a sticker that either she attached or was the sale price back in the day. Wear, Additional Information: This is a super blanket with its traditional Beaded band from the Ndebele South Africa. This blanket is one of the objects that defines the Ndebele identity. In the past as well as in the recent years. Ndebele women have been seen wrapping such colorful blankets around the body. Known as Nguba or Irari, these blankets come in various styles and size. The present blanket belongs to the most popular style made out of the strips with basic bright colors such as the blue, red, pink, green, mauve, black, yellow, orange, the same colors found in their painting or mural art, and in their beadwork. This blanket is decorated with two strips made of tiny glass beads sewn together which is an indication that the blanket belongs to an old style. Here is a very pretty vintage art glass bowl in the blue opalescent hobnail pattern from Fenton. This pattern was produced during the mid-century around the 1940's-50's. It measures 10" across and 4" deep. It has a double crimped edge that is translucent at the very end of rim. There are no nicks. Chips, cracks or scratches that I can see. It will need a little bit more detailed cleaning in the rim area. It looks to be in pretty much perfect looking condition. Priority shipping and handling includes delivery confirmation in the USA. Measuring 2½" highest height x 6" shortest dia. x 6½" widest near-flattened dia. This either European or American UV-sensitive art glass bowl is free of chips, cracks, or wear. There is age-appropriate drag wear to the base. The single issue of note is a lightly oxidized annealing line or strawmark on the bowl's front up from the central deep bowl section within a dual-ruffled area, shown. This should not be considered damage; as the separation line was done in the making. The light discoloration is post-production. Don't know the actual purpose of this item but it looks good as a centerpiece. Frame carries the mark of Atkin Brothers Sheffield and EPNS. Atkin Bros worked from approx. 1853 through 1955. Frame is in good condition just needs a polish. Appears all plate is intact. Bowl is satin glass swirl in a brown gold color. There are a few bubbles in the glass but otherwise it is in good shape. Antique Glass Bride's Bowl Set, Art Nouveau Metal, Mt.Washington, Silex,France
Welcome to my auction! For your consideration I'm offering a gorgeous bride's basket set- quite unusual! This is probably a marriage but it works. The ornate metal frame is art nouveau with twisted metal and leaves. The gorgeous art glass bowl is very heavy. Blown-out, cased glass with an enamel floral design and hand painted courting couple in the bottom. It has a deep pontil mark and fits firmly in the metal frame. It's 6 1/2" in diameter and in perfect condition. I think this is probably Mt. Washington glass or something of equal quality. The small blue glass in the upper section is solid in color and marked"Silex, France" on the bottom. It measures 2 3/8" high with no damage. Victorian Hand Blown Cranberry Cased Bride Bowl Gold Crest Silverplate Frame Antique bride bowl- cranberry cased ruffled art glass with amber/gold crest along rim edge. Hand blown- polished pontil mark. Do not know maker- possibly Fenton. Bowl measures 10 1/4" across and stands 3 1/2" to highest part of ruffled rim. Base is 3 3/4" across. I feel a rough spot(1/8" area) in glass just under the rim. With a magnifying loupe. This looks like a possible manufacturing imperfection in glass. There are several air bubbles and tiny lines in glass in the area. The edge has roughness. Otherwise, no chips or cracks found in glass. Silverplate frame stands 10 3/4" tall and measures 9 1/2" across. Figural flowers and vines on handle. The four feet are dragons. Pretty floral band around section that holds bowl. The glass bowl ... morehas to be positioned just right to fit into the frame- very close fit. There is some wear to finish on frame. Do not find any markings. I have taken several photos and these provide additional description. My camera is picking up some hot spots along rim edge- these areas appear a little too vibrant. For U.S. addresses. The bowl and the rim have an intense uranium glow under a black light as seen in the photo. This piece has a raised rib shape with a crimped and ruffled edge. It measures 3 7/8" high. 8 1/4" across at the top and 2 3/4" at the base. The bottom has a ground and polished pontil. Cranberry Red Victorian Bride/wedding Basket Art Glass Controlled Bubble
Auction is for a hand blown Victorian bride's basket. This item is made with a cranberry glass. Gold flecks focused on the leaves and the basket edges. The glass has a controlled bubble pattern throughout and the handle is striated. Please see pictures for more details. Make sure to scroll down to view all pictures. It really is a beautiful piece. In answer to a question- had my husband measure it and he says the basket base is approximately 4.5 inches wide by 6 inches in length(if you measure from the furthest tip of the leaf on the handle the width would be 6 inches from leaf tip to leaf tip) I am not an expert but I would say it has a rough pontil which is were they look to have removed the tool for molding the glass and it has not been polished smooth.
