Vintage FENTON Art Glass Blue Opalescent Hobnail Crimped Ruffle Edge Bride Bowl
Here is a very pretty vintage art glass bowl in the blue opalescent hobnail pattern from Fenton. This pattern was produced during the mid-century around the 1940's-50's. It measures 10" across and 4" deep. It has a double crimped edge that is translucent at the very end of rim. There are no nicks. Chips, cracks or scratches that I can see. It will need a little bit more detailed cleaning in the rim area. It looks to be in pretty much perfect looking condition. Priority shipping and handling includes delivery confirmation in the USA. Measuring 2½" highest height x 6" shortest dia. x 6½" widest near-flattened dia. This either European or American UV-sensitive art glass bowl is free of chips, cracks, or wear. There is age-appropriate drag wear to the base. The single issue of note is a lightly oxidized annealing line or strawmark on the bowl's front up from the central deep bowl section within a dual-ruffled area, shown. This should not be considered damage; as the separation line was done in the making. The light discoloration is post-production. ~ Spectacular ~ This came from a local estate with a discreet collection of antiques. The mark on the silver frame dates the set to around 1870. It is a Victorian Bride's bowl in excellent condition. The bowl is white glass lined with dark rose glass. It has a gold crest on the edge. The rim of the bowl is scalloped and ruffled. The bowl is deep. The bottom has a rim that fits in the frame and a nicely polished pontil scar. It was most likely made in New England by one of the many fine glass concerns. The frame is round with a fancy rim and four feet. The handle is wide swept to accomodate the width of the bowl. It is barley twist at the bottom and double beaded at the top. It is punctuated with silver balls and scrolls. The mark reads Quadruple Plate hard white metal and E.G. Webster& Son. NY. Condition: No chips. Cracks or scratches ... morein the glass bowl. This VINTAGE/ ANTIQUE heavy Bride's Oval Bowl has a wonderful scalloped edge and rests in a silver leaf holder/ basket. This lovely bowl is in very good condition and is functional as well as beautiful; it would make a great centerpiece. Believed to have been made in England around 1910. The ball-footed basket has an openwork scrolled frame with leaves that gracefully vine in a basket shape and a solid handle. The bowl is 10" long by 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/2 high. And is 1/2" thick.it is lead crystal. The bowl has a deep saw tooth edge, ribbed sides and a star burst in the bottom. Not cranberry, but a vibrant luminescent transparent pure golden red. Seldom does a piece of undecorated single color glass in such a basic shape as a ruffled bowl command the attention this color does! The pontil mark and the entire bottom of the bowl has been finely ground and polished- another sign of a quality glass house. Proudly holding the bowl aloft is a pedestal type silverplate frame. Four scrolling supports extend from the gently sloped dome base to hold an inverted conical basket into which the bowl resides. This gorgeous bride basket is truly an antique. These baskets dating from 1890-1915 approximately. This particular one dates to around 1895, the silverplate holder is signed by the maker Barbour Silver Co of Conn, USA and was taken over by International Silver Co of Meriden, Conn around 1898. So it is truly an old one. The ruffled bowl has a cranberry rim that changes to semi-opalescent glass- clear glass with milky white daisy pattern. The bowl fits like a glove inside its basket, I am absolutely sure this basket and glass insert were made for one another, this was not a case of mix and match. The basket has a single wide foot that has a scrolled pattern design to its rim. This foot has 4 separate places where a monogram could be engraved, if so desired. There is no monogram on any presently. This foot measures 6 inches across. Regarding ... moreheight, from base to top of handle, it measures 12 inches. Across, the glass bowl insert is measured to be approximately 10 inches. The basket frame polished up nicely but needs more on the top at the handle. Condition as stated above. Antique Opalescent Glass Bowl Crimped White Blue Crystal Bride Basket Insert
blueopalbowl Offered for sale is a most unusual opalescent glass bowl. With a double or even triple crimped edge. This is of a translucent white glass that turns gradually to shades of blue toward the edges. The final color is clear or crystal at the very edge. The bottom of this cased glass piece has a ground pontil mark, and is marked with barely legible inscribed numbers that appear to be 675. Though stable on a table by itself, the bottom foot of the bowl measures 2 1/2" in diameter and is slightly less than 1/2" deep. This suggests it may have been used as a Victorian bride's basket insert. This measures 10" in diameter and stands 3 1/4" high to the tallest point on the ruffled rim. Though it resembles old Fenton"petticoat" or crest items, this is of a more delicate weight and structure, and is indeed ... moreof an unusual color. Don't know the actual purpose of this item but it looks good as a centerpiece. Frame carries the mark of Atkin Brothers Sheffield and EPNS. Atkin Bros worked from approx. 1853 through 1955. Frame is in good condition just needs a polish. Appears all plate is intact. Bowl is satin glass swirl in a brown gold color. There are a few bubbles in the glass but otherwise it is in good shape. Antique c1890 Stevens Williams ? BRIDE'S BOWL Silver Stand Victorian
A great and wonderful Victorian brides bowl. These disappeared from the catalogs at the turn of the century. The stand is marked Hartford Plate. Bowl has floral enameling. Brides bowl measures app 12" at its widest width. The polished pontail measures app 3 3/4" in diam. With stand height is app 7" tall. Stand is app 13" wide at its widest point and stand is app 4 1/4" in height. The area where the bowl sits on the stand is app 4 1/4" in diam. The silverplate stand has wear to the plate and a couple of poor reapairs. The art glass is free of any cracks or chips. Buy it now price is very moderate for this wonderful piece. Short Notice! 3 Day Auction! Antique Silver Plate Bride's Bowl/ Basket Kate Greenaway Fresh to the market. From a local Ohio estate, we are pleased to offer this outstanding bride's basket/ bowl/ compote/ tazza with a silver plate Kate Greenaway style base. How sweet this piece is! The little children swinging underneath the bowl are adorable! Actually. It is two little girls, dressed in flowing skirts with neatly buttoned blouses and cap-sleeved jackets. They are wearing dashing hats with a jaunty feather. The sapphire blue art glass bowl is lovely on it's own and breathtaking when matched with this wonderful base. Just a simple etching encircles the rim with traces of gold highlights in the design. Top edge has been finely ground and polished- the sign of a quality glass house. Marked triple plate on the underside. But manufacturer's ... moremark has been obscured. Measures approximately 12-1/2" assembled. The bowl is 8-3/4" across x 3-1/8" deep and nestles securely into the well of frame. The base is 10" to the top of the rim that holds the bowl. Measures 8-1/4" across and has a footprint of 5" This piece is in marvelous condition! No chips. Cracks, or repairs to the lovely glass bowl. Noting one inconsequential tiny flake to the outer rim of the bowl- easier felt than seen and undoubtedly done when first produced as it retains a remnant of gold highlight. The frame is also in very good condition and the silverplate has polished up nicely. Noting it appears someone drilled a hole through the top and bottom of the base(pictured) not sure for what reason or outcome(possibly to repurpose as a lamp base? Doesn't affect the beauty or functionality of the piece(did make it impossible to read the manufacturer's logo) so are noting this only for accuracy's sake. This lovely bowl is in very good condition and is functional as well as beautiful; it would make a great centerpiece. The bowl is 4" x 7" and is shown in last photo with a Bride's bowl basket in EPNS with its own tablespoon(6 3/4" The silverplate basket is being sold separately upon the advice of an antique appraiser. Believed to have been made in England. We can't make out the letters above and below the EPNS. The ornate metal frame is art nouveau with twisted metal and leaves. The gorgeous art glass bowl is very heavy. Blown-out, cased glass with an enamel floral design and hand painted courting couple in the bottom. It has a deep pontil mark and fits firmly in the metal frame. It's 6 1/2" in diameter and in perfect condition. I think this is probably Mt. Washington glass or something of equal quality. The small blue glass in the upper section is solid in color and marked"Silex, France" on the bottom. It measures 2 3/8" high with no damage. I feel a rough spot(1/8" area) in glass just under the rim. With a magnifying loupe. This looks like a possible manufacturing imperfection in glass. There are several air bubbles and tiny lines in glass in the area. The edge has roughness. Otherwise, no chips or cracks found in glass. Silverplate frame stands 10 3/4" tall and measures 9 1/2" across. Figural flowers and vines on handle. The four feet are dragons. Pretty floral band around section that holds bowl. The bowl has a pretty crimped"pie crust" with an amber edge. It is decorated with really nice enamel work. This piece measures 3 1/8" high. 9 1/2" across and 3 1/2" at the base. The silver plated frame was made by Columbia Silver Company. The handle design includes beading and scrolls. The pierced base is really pretty. The bottom has the maker's marking as pictured and numbered"924" The frame is also in very good condition with no problems, plate loss or repairs found. It has not been cleaned or polished. This is a beautiful graceful blown glass brides bowl that was made of cased glass. With a plain white layer on the exterior surface of the bowl and a peachblow colored interior. There is a fine line of clear, uncolored glass around the outer edge, much as the Fenton crest pieces have, but this one is obviously much older than Fenton's crest bowls. There is an indented finished pontil on the bottom of the bowl, which has been ground, but not polished. The bowl is 10" in diameter and stands 3" high. It is in excellent condition. With no chips, nicks, cracks, stains, or scratches. There are a few tiny black inclusions in the glass, which I have shown in my 7th photo. Fancy Antique Victorian Large Bride's Basket/Bowl Cranberry Glass, floral 12"
Here is a gorgeous. Cranberry, extra large Victorian 12” diameter antique Brides Bowl from late 1880s. What makes this one so special is the intense coloring that is more cranberry when most are just deep pink. This one has a gorgeous Victorian enameled pattern of delicate floral sprays. All of the enameling is there and not worn. Bowl is in very good condition. The cranberry part is a good 1 3/4” into the design, and the back is white with a clear edge. Gorgeous 11" Peach Blow Bohemian Glass Bride's Bowl This lovely probably once had a silver handled frame but I think that would have been gilding the lily. 11" across 3" tall to ruffle high point As noted there is a 3/8" broken through bubble on the rim(see pics also) There is very little gold left on the interior decoration and only about 25% left on the outside. The underlying enamel is good. Though, and it actually took me a while to realize it had ever had gilding. Anyway, for the few flaws it has, it still displays like a million bucks. A very knowledgeable glassie friend told me that the way the pontil is ground on this is typical of Bohemian glass and that the black marks in the grind are typical of Pre-Historicist Loetz glass. As another glassie friend says. Buy on your own knowledge" so you do need to ... moreuse your judgement on this one as I do not know enough about European glass to make any definitive statements. Victorian Glass Pink & White Bride's Basket Bowl Spangled Crimped Clear Crest
Offering a Victorian Glass Cased Pink and White Bride's Basket Bowl(no stand) that is Spangled and has a Clear Crest. This large bowl is probably from the 1880's-1900 and. As typical, has no manufacturing marks to indicate maker or country of origin. The outside is white with the inner bowl shading darker to lighter pink and then white. The top is crimped with 8 large crimps and 2 smaller crimps between them. The rim has a clear crest. The inner bowl is silver color spangled. The bottom is white with a ground pontil. Lightly tapped gives a lead crystal type ring. Size is about 3.5" high x about 9.25" at widest across top x about 5" across base. There is a small brown. Raised spot in the glass on one outer side. This was probably a piece of sand or grit during the manufacturing process. It in no way detracts from the ... morebeauty or integrity of the bowl and was part of the manufacturing process. Gorgeous Antique Victorian Brass Figural Bride's Basket Center Bowl Rubina Verde
This auction is for a stunning Victorian bride's basket or center bowl. It pairs a figural brass base with a richly colored rubina verde bowl. The interior of the bowl is a deep vaseline color at the center with blood red ruffles and a pearly white exterior. The base is brass(some parts look very gold. So this may originally have been gilded) Three storks perch on balls with their wings stretched up and out behind them. Each holds a chain garland under their beak. The base has three feet with beaded, embossed art nouveau designs. There is no maker's mark, but if you look closely inside each foot, there is a tiny English registry mark. There is one chipped ruffle as shown, but the bowl is otherwise in good condition. The base has age-appropriate patina and a slight tilt visible in some pictures but no evidence of damage or repair. ... moreThe bowl fits very snugly into the collar.
