The edge is is flat with no detail. There is a stretcher type piece above and below the door openings. The flush doors have an external mounted wood pivot that runs from top to bottom on the edge of each door. Each door has beautiful paintings of flowers and vases in mostly red colors. The drawer fronts. Front frame, spandrels and apron also have painted designs. The lacquer on the top of the cabinet appears to be done in a style that is called Pi Ma Hui. Which is a process where a layer of fabric is first placed on the cabinet and the lacquer is applied over the fabric. As seen in the photos there are sections of the lacquer missing and there are cracks in the finish. The lacquer is black but in some areas looks more like a very dark brown due to aging. 1960s mini sideboard- An extremely versatile piece of furniture, small enough to fit almost anywhere and an attractive compliment to a Modernist/ Scandinavian interior. The little unit is divided into a space on the right. Concealed with a flap, and two drawers on the left which are interchangeable. Dimensions(approx. 70.5 cm x 32cm(27 ¾“ x 12 ½” Total height 58cm(22 ¾“ Prime material: laminated bent plywood drawers. Laminated chipboard body, solid wood legs, metal buttons. Offered for sale is a Beautiful French Cherry Antique Server/Buffet/Sideboard. This sideboard features beautifully hand-carved details. Four dove-tailed drawers and four doors each with 2 adjustable shelves and scroll feet. The hardware is solid brass and the cherry grain is gorgeous. The drawers include mahogany and ash wood. This sideboard measures 41" high x 87 1/2" wide x 21" deep. The cabinet has locks, but we do not have the key. The sideboard is in excellent overall condition with light scratches on the top surface(see pics#5, 6) It appears a prior owner sanded the top very smooth but did not refinish the top with varnish. The back of the sideboard does not have any manufacturer's signature. Rackstraw originated in England around 1749. They specialized in making fine furniture of mahogany. Yew, and oak. Their focus was to make a high end item that would last for many ... morelifetimes. Because of their quality construction they are rarely sold, but instead handed down from generation to generation. We feel this sideboard was made around 1960. The wonderful mahogany has a splendid grain and beautiful color. Satinwood inlays and mahogany cross bands provide subtle. But necessary contrast around the doors, drawers, and top. Further enhancing the beauty of this sideboard are fluted details between the drawers and doors and down the legs. The legs themselves are tapered and end in spade feet. The cabinet doors stay closed with a spring latch and the drawers slide smoothly on wooden runners. The brass ring pulls are in great shape and are the right proportion for this size buffet. The only blemish on this bow front sideboard is a small separation in the top on the right hand side. We have pictured this in the photos. This separation is from shrinkage of the solid mahogany top that occurs when the wood breathes. This is a cosmetic phenomenon and does not affect the integrity of the top. It was well cared for and comes from a smoke and pet free home. The piece measures 67.25" in length across the front x 32 7/8" in depth at the center front x 37.75" in height. It has a small cubby on the left that has a door with two handles that match the right side. The right side has a top lined silver flatware storage drawer and a second door below with an additional cubby for storage. The front center has two large dove-tail drawers as well. Antique Wood Sideboard Original hardware Simplistic style with original mirror
I am selling an antique sideboard that has been in our home for many years. It is solid and has the original hardware. Please see above for details on condition and pictures. We love it for its charm. But are downsizing so it must go. If you are interested and would like some more pictures please email me. The mirror at the back is old and original also. The measurements are 60" X 24" and then 38 high to the top of the table and then an additional 10 1/2 inches to the top of the mirror at the back.
