Offered for sale is a Beautiful French Cherry Antique Server/Buffet/Sideboard. This sideboard features beautifully hand-carved details. Four dove-tailed drawers and four doors each with 2 adjustable shelves and scroll feet. The hardware is solid brass and the cherry grain is gorgeous. The drawers include mahogany and ash wood. This sideboard measures 41" high x 87 1/2" wide x 21" deep. The cabinet has locks, but we do not have the key. The sideboard is in excellent overall condition with light scratches on the top surface(see pics#5, 6) It appears a prior owner sanded the top very smooth but did not refinish the top with varnish. The back of the sideboard does not have any manufacturer's signature. From the research we conducted on the piece, we learned that this was common with most French pieces from the 19th century. ... moreMany of them did not include a makers/manufacturer's signatures or markings. The marble is a wonderful color match or the oak wood with tans and taupes throughout. It would be an excellent piece in a dining room or to use as a bar. The wood used is solid oak and the entire piece is quite heavy. Despite its weight. It is also very sturdy and strong. There are two drawers and two cabinet doors in this marble top server that provide a good amount of storage. The cabinets and the back splash have complimenting wood carvings that also tie in to the brass drawer handles. For Auction: Late 1800's gorgeous French double buffet. It is in unrestored original condition. The buffet shows signs of wear for its age. But is in great condition and was well maintained over the years. All doors lock, and we have the key. I have tried to take pictures at various angle so you can see the rich color or the wood and all of the stunning detailed woodwork. I inherited this buffet/cabinet/sideboard. So please forgive me for my lack on knowledge on this beautifully handcrafted piece of furniture. I was told that it came from France. Condition: The top of furniture is secured by a peg system. The center of the wood is cracked lengthwise and is not even. In the moving process. The two front feet got chipped/damaged. There is normal wear and tear but would be expected on an item of this age. There is no back to this buffet/cabinet/sideboard. There are three cabinets with one adjustable shelf per cabinet. There are two drawers. Each of the cabinets have a working lock. I do have a key but am not sure if it is the original. Please view photographs for your own assessment of condition. We are pleased to offer this exquisite. Early 20th century, buffet/sideboard or grand entry table. This lovely piece features Mahogany veneer with exotic, eye catching, grain pattern. It is in the Chippendale style with French influence. The buffet has a beautiful, double, curved front leg design on each side with carved ball and talon feet. There is a raised, acanthus leaf detail with a light cream, painted finish(original) The back legs are straight. The top of the server features the beautifully grained mahogany and is surrounded with a deeply carved, rope border that is burnished in the crevices for greater interest. The server is quite functional and there is ample storage. There is a single, long top drawer that runs the width of the server. A deeper and narrower drawer is located in the center of the buffet, just under the upper drawer. ... moreThis drawer is divided into 3 compartments. This drawer is flanked with deep storage compartments housed behind doors. All of the drawers are dovetail construction and the interior of the drawers, as well as the door compartments, are finished with mahogany veneer. The hardware(pulls and knobs) are brass. This elegant buffet was manufactured by John C. Raab. This company was in business from 1903 to 1920 and operated out of Grand Rapids. Michigan. The company was known as a"fine" furniture maker and made upper end pieces. The company was purchased in 1920 and later became Luce Furniture. The original manufacturer's sticker is present. The buffet is in extremely nice condition for its age with only minor evidence of age or use. There are very minor scuffs and some very light scratches. But nothing severe or distracting. The painted acanthus details have surface cracks which are very normal for this type of finish in pieces of this age. Here we have a beautiful French Oak display case. The front door is carved oak in a Deco style. It has beveled glass all around with a mirrored back. It measures 19 1/2 inches tall. 13 3/8 inches deep and 14 3/8 inches wide. The interior plate glass shelf measures 12 1/2 inches by 11 1/4 inches. It is in excellent condition with a slight bit of finish loss to the top only. The lock works smoothly and has the original brass Art Deco key. This is one of a pair we are selling, originally meant to sit on the top of a sideboard.
