The dresser base stands on solid oak panelled front legs with decorative ogee mouldings forming a panel to the front legs with a classic egg shaped ovoid oval cabochon rising over with very decorative scrolled spandrels with a deep moulding above which are the split turned decorations flanking either side of the drawers and decorated on the drawer fronts. There are two panels to each drawer giving the appearance of four drawers running across the front. This beautiful late nineteenth to early twentieth century quartersawn oak sideboard has beautiful carvings including g riffins on top. Carved lion feet, a large beveled mirror with candle stands and long display shelf above as well as a lovely server surface, drawers and open cabinet space behind decorative doors below. The wood grains on this pieces are gorgeous, the front edge has a slight serpentine front and the detailed carvings including applique and trip work are spectacular and appear to be intact. This piece is on it's original casters so it can be moved easily. I show the casters in close up behind the decorative front carved lion's foot. This large sideboard stands 79 inches tall and measures 47 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches deep. Front to back. It travels safely and easily in two parts. The base is 38 inches tall and includes ... moretwo small drawers, each 18 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches front to back and 4 inches deep, one of which is a buffet drawer, lined in old maroon felt. Below them is another large drawer, 38 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches front to back ans 5 1/4 inches deep. Below the drawers behind the two lovely doors with the beautiful wood applique is open cabinet space 42 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches front to back and 14 inches tall. The top section of this sideboard measures 41 inches tall. The candle stands are 8 inches above the top work surface and the display shelf that runs the width of the piece is 26 inches above this top server surface, which is also the top of the base. The wonderful carved columns add even further to the beauty of this spectacular old sideboard which was purchased through an old Charleston family estate sale, so I can not be sure if it is English or American made, but it is a terrific cabinet and will make an excellent addition to your home or place of business. I am selling a gorgeous antique sideboard/ dresser! Fantastic item in great condition! The unit used to be a dressing table with a mirror sitting on the top which I do have(read on) Hence the cut outs and two tiny wholes on the top! I am unsure of the wood. I think its oak but I am unsure! Decorative designs and trim on the door and draw fronts, with barley twist front legs. With two cupboards(one with shelf) and two deep draws the sideboard has plenty of storage. As I mentioned before. Circa date, 1940, Condition, Excellent, Wood, Oak, Dimensions, Width- 60" Depth- 20" Height- 95.5" Price includes free shipping! Circa 1940 Oak Barley twist turnings Excellent condition, This tall and beautiful antique Welsh dresser will make a statement in any room! The gorgeous barley twist columns and stretchers combine with the oak wood to make a magnificent piece of furniture. The oak wood has a really beautiful medium brown color and a gorgeous grain. There are so many wonderful features to point out on this Welsh dresser that we will start from the top and work our way down. At the very top is a moulded crown with some carved detail below it. Two long barley twist columns ... morerun down the shelf section and end in carved balusters. The three shelves feature plate grooves(for standing up plates) and are 5″ deep. Some nicely carved arches decorated the middle back panel just below the last shelf. As we move down the piece. The cabinet section features two doors and three drawers. The cabinet doors lock with one included key. The left cabinet has a removable shelf and the right has a drawer inside. The top drawer in the middle is sectioned into 3 areas and lined with felt. This felt inside this drawer is quite worn and missing in places and it should be replaced. Finally, moving down to the legs, feet, and stretchers you can see again the use of the lovely barley twist. This antique Welsh dresser was made in Wales sometime around 1940. It is in excellent condition. The top has. At some point, been married to the bottom as you can see from the picture of the back. The only two flaws are the bad felt in the top drawer and some wear to the moulding around the bottom of the section with the cabinets and drawers. This can be seen in the photos. Arriving with my consignors most recent shipment of antiques from the UK, this gorgeous old sideboard has some nice age and I attempt to use my photographs to show it's quality construction and ample functional storage in a wonderful solid wood cabinet. A very nice buffet. Hand carvings on front and ball type feet. Measures 62 inches wide 20 inches deep and 37 inches tall at the back plate. Serving platform is 35 1/2 inches tall. 3 drawers with silverware tray in middle drawer. 4 doors on bottom. As you can see in the pictures it is in pretty good shape. And it's a less common model numbered 962D. It's well constructed and made from nicely grained solid elm with the exception of the elm veneered back panels. Drawer bottoms and cupboard floor, and the nicely fashioned rack has 3 plate grooved shelves with half turned columns in between. The conveniently sized top of the base is also plate grooved across the back, and the 3 dovetailed drawers are fitted with well turned knobs. The 3 inset panelled cupboard doors are fronted with shaped vertical handles. And both cupboards are fitted with ... morea fixed shelf. While a decoratively fashioned apron is located beneath the doors. Further highlighting the quality of this piece are the visible peg joints used in it's construction. This method of craftsmanship is one of the many attractions of Ercol furniture. And it emphasises why it's such a popular brand. Antique ART DECO Period Sideboard / Dresser with Italian Marble Top - Chicago
Antique French? European? Art Deco Sideboard Here is a wonderful antique Art Deco Sideboard for you consideration. I'm not certain of it's origin but appears to be Italian or French. Since I cannot ascertain its manufacturer or age. You must be the ultimate judge. This stunning Sideboard has 4 drawers with silver ball type pulls. Each backed by a copper disc. The end swinging cabinet doors are hinged the full length and both contain a working lock(photo#4) with key. The pulls on each door are truly amazing, a perfect compliment to the quarter-sawn oak veneer inlay. There is one small area of veneer loss on the RH end(photo#8) which is easily repaired. The crowning element is the top surface which is a warm rose-colored Italian marble. The top measures 47-1/4” wide x 19-3/4” deep. The sideboard stands approx. 33” tall.
