My wife and I have owned the piece since 1990 when we purchased a number of museum quality art deco pieces to furnish our new home in South Florida. We have all the original paperwork from the sale including the receipt that shows a purchase price of $19.500. We are moving into smaller quarters and will be disposing of a number of our deco pieces through dealers. Ebay and auction houses. I believe the piece is priced fairly based upon recent market transactions. A similarly dated but significantly smaller Leleu sideboard sold in the March 2014 Sotheby’s auction for $16.250. The dimensions for this piece are 79” x 35” x 12” Obviously this piece cannot be shipped per se but I would be happy to arrange ... morea time when it can be picked up by movers of your choice. Jules Leleu: Jules Leleu(1883-1961) never achieved the international fame of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann. Jean Michel Frank or Le Corbusier. But he was just as successful and probably more prolific than his better-known contemporaries. As early as 1925, the year Leleu won a grand prize at the exposition of decorative arts, he sold a commode in burl amboyna wood with ivory inlays to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The House of Leleu was a family business. By the late 1930s. Leleu’s sons, André and Jean, and his daughter, Paule, were active partners.
