I am not sure if this is Edwardian or much later from the 1950's or 1960's, I suspect the latter. It has a serpentine front and top shape& is supported on six slender legs. Four at the front, two at the back. The top is cross-banded and has tramline edging. It has inlaid detailing around the top and the cupboard and drawer fronts. The sideboard consists of two central drawers flanked on either side by a single-door cupboard. Each with a removable wooden shelf inside. OLD Antique Edwardian style solid oak Buffet/Sideboard (Spanish Mexican Hacienda
I was told by the Antique shop(India St. Antiques in San Diego) that I bought this from years ago. This is a English made, Edwardian in style sideboard/buffet made arouns 1900-1911. It is solid oak and very sturdy with dove tailed drawers. One drawer is lined and set up for silverware. Silverware not included. It is 48" long, 18 1/2" deep and 38 1/4" tall. I put down Spanish/ Mexican Hacienda in my heading as is looks very good in my old 1929 Spanish cottage style house. I am selling it because I am switching over to Mid Century Modern. Up for your consideration I am offering a beautiful piece that is hard to part with. I am downsizing and would keep it if I could. This sideboard is large measuring about 78" long(6.5 Ft) 41" tall(about 3.5 Ft) and 21" thick from front to back. It has cabinets on each end with roomy shelves inside. The center has a glass door that I display carnival glass in. There is another shelf for that display and have it and it will be included with the buffet. It has two long and wide drawers for storage and has pretty black and white solid marble that is about 2" thick. Each drawer and cabinet has silver toned and brass handles in the art deco style. The brass could use a good polishing. This piece is very versitile, I have used itin the kitchen as an island and in the living room as a TV stand. It does have a hole cut in the back ... morefor electronic component cords. The heavy marble top has a crack through it and is in two pieces. The marble is removeable to make moving the piece easier. This antique Arts and Crafts sideboard is a sturdy and beautiful addition for any dining room. Not only does it provide more than ample storage, it also has a unique and eye-catching look to it. This sideboard was made sometime around the year 1920 in England. The oak wood has a lovely. Light patina that will continue to grow deeper and more beautiful ... moreas it ages. For storage there are two large drawers and three cabinet sections. Both drawers open and close easily and were constructed with dovetailed drawer joints. There are two large drop ring brass handles on each drawer. The three cabinet doors are each decorated with beautiful carvings that have a very regal look to them. The left cabinet contains two pull out slides that are lined with green felt. the felt is old and dingy) The center cabinet is completely open although it appears to have had shelves or slides at one point. The right hand cabinet has one pull out drawer at the bottom which appears to be a later addition to the piece. All three doors lock and one key is included. Being such a heavy and sturdy Arts and Crafts sideboard this piece has withstood the test of time very well. There are a few minor cosmetic issues to mention. There is a small light stain on the bottom moulding near the left front foot. The right side panel has a slight age separation to it. The top has a few old stains and a ring mark. They refinished to lighten the color and show the grain of the wood in polyurethane. Top drawer and the two side doors can lock with the original key provided. Maryland, 20th Century Item# 412QXR08S This is an exquisite reproduction sideboard by the Potthast Brothers furniture firm. Established in the mid 19th century and renowned for their exceptional quality and benchmade construction. This is a very fine example, quite angular with clean undistracted lines. A single drawer in the center retains it's original stamped brass bail pulls, opening to reveal a felt upholstered interior(remaining in excellent condition) and the Potthast branding. The drawer is hand dovetailed along the front and back corners, the bottom of the drawer machine chamfered along the edges and set in grooves with small supporting blocks. Beneath the drawer are a pair of cupboard doors, opening to reveal a shelved interior. 7 ft 7 in. French Demilune Oak Marble Top Sideboard Louis XVth style
Offered for sale is a French Louis XVth style marble top sideboard that is 7 ft 7 inches long. 42" high and 23" deep. This beautiful sideboard was made in France in the early 1900's. It is topped with a solid slab of beveled edge marble with beautiful yellow, reds and ochre colors. Note the photo showing the double ogee edge carving of the thick marble. The sideboard has 5 drawers in the center, 4 doors with 4 drawers above the doors. The end doors and drawers are convex shape, what we call demilune(half moon) This style is so desirable as it gives an easy flow to the room-no square edges. Cabriole legs, scroll feet are topped by a carved skirt below the doors. The marble is not attached. If the color does not suit you, replace with another color. We have sold this type of sideboard for every room of the house-DR, LR, foyer, ... morebedroom, kitchen, study-truly a versatile piece with tons of storage and beauty. Makes for a great bar. Plenty of shelves behind the doors for storage.
