It is made of dark oak wood and appears to have been painted red at some point. You can see traces of red paint on it in some of the carvings and around the moldings if you look closely. There is a dark burn mark about 6 inches long on the left side of the top. The woodwork is very ornate with lots of carvings and molding on the front. The front right top edge has some nicks. Jacobean style Buffet done in walnut produced in 1915 By Century Furniture This piece was recently evaluated by Robert Klein. A furniture and Antique historian. Below is his response to the piece. Finely done manufactured Jacobean style piece done in walnut. As is to be expected from Century. Great piece of furniture but first some issues. Someone did some cleaning to the surfaces. A bit too aggressively and inconsistently in places. Nothing that cannot be remedied and made more visually integrated. Wax would probably be a good choice here(toluene free Briwax in a walnut color) That said. This has all the hallmarks of being made in the 1910-1920s both in style, material, wood species, and even the glue used. Even the label you mention as squished cross and the V rather than a U in‘Centvry’ stamp, might be a true brand, burned and stamped ... moreinto the wood. I can see in the drawer bottom picture that hot hide glue was used. Modern plastic glues, PVA or aliphatic resin, were not used until after WWII. Were the piece all there and properly cleaned I would price it in the 1500 range in a shop. As it sits, although beautiful, the pricing would be lower.

This large. Highly carved walnut server or buffet is perfect to add elegance to your dining room. Carved in the Jacobean style, and of unknown age and origin, but believed to be 1900-1950, this buffet has 3 drawers with antique brass pulls over 2 cabinet doors and one large drawer, all with antique brass pulls. The legs have the large round carving of the Jacobean style. The drawers all have dovetail joints, which is typically the mark of higher quality furniture. Its multitude of grooved plate shelves are perfect for all kinds of display and the large base provides a plethora of hidden storage. Dressers this large are very hard to come by. So don’t miss out! The Jacobean style of this dresser shows in the geometric patterns created on the doors. Originally this large antique ... morewelsh dresser was built in the United Kingdom around the year 1900. Over this time the oak wood from which it was built has developed a lovely patina with various character marks here and there. This piece does come in two(top and bottom) for easier moving. The upper section has two locking doors and the lower section has two as well. All of which come with keys. The drawers have locks but no key works them. As is common in kitchen pieces like this, the upper drawer is fitted with a moving felt lined section for storing silverware. All of the upper shelves are double grooved which allows you to stand varying sized plates up on them. Each shelf is 5.5″ deep. After over 100 years. This dresser remains in very good condition. The“counter top” part has sustained some old dark rings which we have pictured. There is a small age separation on the upper left door. This is normal for solid wood and does not affect the door’s function. The cornice has sustained a small age separation and one ding which are hard to see. Inside the lower section the bottom board shows old(nonactive) wood worm damage. This was obviously treated and the bottom board shored up to ensure the cabinets can
