Horner did make ... moreone model that is as grand with griffins supporting the top and I've only heard of one selling in the past 6 years. This is a opportunity to buy a museum quality piece of American history that will not happen again for some time. We have restored it to its original grandeur and it has no apologies as you can see. Rarely can you stand 100% behind a piece that is 110+ years old to the extent I will with this one. I will shorten my description because the pictures really tell the tale. Starting at the bottom you have a massive base with bowed and projected center section and fluted drawers. On the ends stand full bodied griffins on the 45 degree angle and they are huge! Their heads are 5+" across. That's the start, them moving up to the center section the curio top is supported by 4 massive ball and claw feet and carved ankles. Three beveled mirrors comprise the back filler section and this all supports this massive curio glass top. The top consists of a total of 12 beveled and mirrored glass' the bonnets are carved with radius doors and a arched hood then topped with a huge 16" carved lions head in the center. Within the arch is a carved frieze board with fighting griffins holding a carved crest of sorts. I'm trying to stop I promise but it's a exciting piece! The hardware is the heaviest detailed hardware I've seen on a piece with the greatest detail, carved lions heads and faces with manes. Every screw to every piece of hardware was there and we cleaned every piece and reapplied them. Fantastic piece that deserves the proper home. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece, but I do know that was originally contructed between 1870 and 1899. The sideboard has short reverse scroll feet with beautiful carving that runs up the side supports from the feet. The sideboard has carved accents on the front of the doors, at the outer edges of the large drawer, with matching carved details on the top mirrored frame and pillar supports.

This gorgeous early to mid-twentieth century oak sideboard was imported from the Uk through Edinburgh. Scotland and offers a lovely combination of carving, beaded inlay around the mirror, original hardware and lovely columns accenting the mirror. This large sideboard stands 65 inches tall with the mirror back in place and the beveled mirror itself measures 40 long by 12 inches tall. Good overall condition, This quaint English oak sideboard was made around 1940 and is the perfect size for a variety of places in the home. The shaped back splash has a beveled mirror and the cabinet doors are decorated with carvings in the outside upper corners. The drawers slide in and out easily and the cabinet doors both lock with included key. The inside of the right drawer used to have ... moregreen felt that was partially removed. Leaving the inside of the drawer with a green tinge(see picture) There is normal wear throughout in the form of tiny dings here and there, but overall this buffet is in very good condition and quite sturdy. The drawers are made with hand cut dovetails which gives you an idea of the high level of craftsmanship that went into this sideboard. The sideboard is 36" tall to the counter and 46.5" tall to the top of the back splash. Plenty of storage space in this sideboard! The cabinet doors both lock. These carved decorations adorn the outside upper corners of the doors. Each drawer has two solid brass pulls. The drawers are made with hand cut dovetails. The right drawer used to have green felt inside. Now it has a green tinge from where that felt was removed. The counter top has minor wear in the form of tiny dings or stains. What I have here is an outstanding Empire style tiger oak sideboard/ buffet circa 1900 with a tag from Picture Rocks. PA. The tag(photo shown) indicates the Burrows Bros. Co. Ltd. as the manufacturer. A fellow named Amos Burrows started the furniture co. in Lycoming County. Pennsylvania in 1856 and the enterprise was sold in 1939. This one is from the Burrow's Brothers unique"Roller Guide Line. Two tiny wooden wheels hold each drawer in place and enable smooth gliding back and forth. Some information on the manufacturer's history can be found on the internet at usgennet.org/usa/pa/county/lycoming/history/Chapter-31.html There are Claw feet in the front and straight legs in the back. All legs have the original wooden rollers for easily moving this piece around. The overall dimensions are 48" W x 22 1/2" D x 61 1/2" ... moreH. The height to the first level is 39" The height to the second level is 56 1/2" The two levels are connected by columns. The mirror is the original beveled mirror with the dimensions 37"W x 13"H. It has 2 drawers on top that are each 20 1/2" long. There is 1 long drawer in the middle of the piece that is 42" long. At the botto m are 2 doors w/ post in-between. There is a large open storage area behind these doors. The drawers and doors have beautiful decorative brass knobs as pulls(photo shown) Some minor imperfections- as shown in pictures- are: varnish spot(top left side) slight warpage of veneer in one spot(top right ride) and two spots of discoloration in mirror The 2 drawers on top. The long drawer in the middle, and the two bottom doors, all have keyholes for locking, but no key. Overall condition is very good. Considering its age. We've really cared for this piece. This is a tiger sawn oak beveled glass mirror back highly carved sideboard that dates from the turn of the century. 1900. It came out of ... morean estate, and is finished in a dark, dark oak stain finish. All we did was scuff it down and re-spray it with a satin sheen lacquer. Some hardware was missing, so we replaced it with some contemporary solid cast brass hardware that looks just like the pieces we replaced. The drawers are all tiger sawn and dovetail, and are serpentine, curve, and reverse serpentine. Underneath the large drawer and three small drawers on top are two carved panel doors that open for plenty of storage. The back has fluted columns, vase-shaped posts, candle shelves where the oil lamps used to sit, an original beveled glass mirror on the back, and a detailed heavily carved backsplash. The overall size is 48 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 38 inches high to the top of the base, and 81 inches to the very top. This beautiful late nineteenth to early twentieth century quartersawn oak sideboard has beautiful carvings including g riffins on top. Carved lion feet, a large beveled mirror with candle stands and long display shelf above as well as a lovely server surface, drawers and open cabinet space behind decorative doors below. The wood grains on this pieces are gorgeous, the front edge has a slight serpentine front and the detailed carvings including applique and trip work are spectacular and appear to be intact. This piece is on it's original casters so it can be moved easily. I show the casters in close up behind the decorative front carved lion's foot. This large sideboard stands 79 inches tall and measures 47 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches deep. Front to back. It travels safely and easily in two parts. This awesome Antique American Sideboard has been in the family for so many years. Not a reproduction. The detail on this sideboard is amazing! The two upper drawers are bow shape& the larger drawer is serpentine with lion heads on the pulls. Original brass keyholes. The doors have serpentines on them& appears one door(right side) had a repair before we purchased. Each side of the sideboard has a mermaid with detail. It's in very good condition for its age. Beautiful Antique New York Original Tag R J Horner Carved Oak Sideboard Base
Here is an absolutely fabulous 19th century RJ HORNER New York USA made sideboard buffet base. You can see a couple of hole on top at the back where a mirrored top was probably attached. I bought this as a base only and had it refinished over 30 years ago-it was a dark mess and the wood grain wasn't visible otherwise I would have left it original. I wanted to see the glorious oak grain and everyone that has seen it over the decades has mentioned what an awesome piece it is. The carving is magnificent-hairy feet. Faces, florals-fantastic quality. The drawer in the center are still there. This over 100 year old beauty is not without flaws, there is one scuff and a couple of scratches on the top-tried to photograph in photo 11. The bottom drawer sticks out-since last move 25 years ago. The nose of a center face has been flattened somewhat-again-with ... morelast move. One handle on left drawer is not rounded-may have had a piece off-has been that way since I bought it over 30 years ago. There is some minor denting around key locks-no key available. There may be another flaw,but I don't see them-but again this is way over 100 years old. The back is fully intact-solid. This baby weighs a ton-built to last forever. Antique mission quarter sawn oak sideboard-server
This mission sideboard is very sturdy and has been recently refinished. The top has been replaced with a solid piece of quarter sawed oak to match the rest of the piece. The bevel glass mirror has been stripped off and a new mirror installed behind the bevel to give it a look of authenticity.
