There is a short top shelf above the backsplash mirror. The mirror appears to be original and it does have some slight fogging and freckling. The backsplash mirror is beveled and flanked by“S” corbels supporting the upper shelf. The base has 4 drawers and 2 doors all with wood knob pulls. The two top drawers are bow front. The drawer on the left is lined with faded green velvet and divided into 3 sections. The drawers all have dovetail construction and glide in and out easily. The doors hide open storage. Casters sit beneath the large curved Empire style feet on all 4 legs. This piece does have some nicks and scuffs from the years however it is in overall great condition. I do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. This buffet measures 55 1/8 inches tall. 61 ¾ inches side to side and 25 3/8 inches front to back. Antique Tiger Oak Sideboard/ Buffet w/ Beveled Mirror and Claw Feet
What I have here is an outstanding Empire style tiger oak sideboard/ buffet circa 1900 with a tag from Picture Rocks. PA. The tag(photo shown) indicates the Burrows Bros. Co. Ltd. as the manufacturer. A fellow named Amos Burrows started the furniture co. in Lycoming County. Pennsylvania in 1856 and the enterprise was sold in 1939. This one is from the Burrow's Brothers unique"Roller Guide Line. Two tiny wooden wheels hold each drawer in place and enable smooth gliding back and forth. Some information on the manufacturer's history can be found on the internet at usgennet.org/usa/pa/county/lycoming/history/Chapter-31.html There are Claw feet in the front and straight legs in the back. All legs have the original wooden rollers for easily moving this piece around. The overall dimensions are 48" W x 22 1/2" D x 61 1/2" ... moreH. The height to the first level is 39" The height to the second level is 56 1/2" The two levels are connected by columns. The mirror is the original beveled mirror with the dimensions 37"W x 13"H. It has 2 drawers on top that are each 20 1/2" long. There is 1 long drawer in the middle of the piece that is 42" long. At the botto m are 2 doors w/ post in-between. There is a large open storage area behind these doors. The drawers and doors have beautiful decorative brass knobs as pulls(photo shown) Some minor imperfections- as shown in pictures- are: varnish spot(top left side) slight warpage of veneer in one spot(top right ride) and two spots of discoloration in mirror The 2 drawers on top. The long drawer in the middle, and the two bottom doors, all have keyholes for locking, but no key. Overall condition is very good. Considering its age. We've really cared for this piece. English sideboard in tiger oak. Jacobean style. Circa 1920. Measurements: 54" long x 18 1/2" deep. Panelled back is 7 1/2" high. Total height is 44" There are 4 metal pear drop pulls on the 2 panelled dovetailed drawers- not original. The cupboards. However, have the original pulls with lock system. No key. Lots of decoration. The legs are barley twist and the barley twist continues on both sides of the upper portion of the cupboards. The top panel is pegged into the sideboard and could be removed. If desired, for traveling and then glued solidly in when this piece is in its final position. The feet are bulbous with a stretch system between. There is a minor separation along a seam on the right side of the cupboard. antique tiger oak carved North Wind sideboard Gorgeous beveled mirror
This is drop-dead gorgeous! It is a tiger oak sideboard with carved faces(I believe it is the North Wind) I really hate to part with this. But I found another one that matches my china cabinet better. It has a beautiful beveled mirror, which does have a little ghosting. It has a small loss of silver in the bottom right corner about 1/4" wide. Not noticeable if you have items on the top, but I want to mention every flaw I see. Please see picture# 11. The mirror sits on the top of the buffet and the crown has pegs that it drops into on the very top shelf. There are a few scratches on the top(I think from the mirror being placed on the sideboard) I tried to photograph them in picture#12. I haven't tried to cover them with a color crayon. As they didn't bother me at all. This is a great piece if you want to make a statement in your ... moredining room. Or anywhere for that matter! It is about 25" deep, 75" tall, and about 65" long. I have the history of this piece too! It was purchased by Mr. Albert Lunt in Nebraska in 1909. It was made it Hastings, Michigan. Please take a look at my other items! More coming soon. The bottom drawer is a s ingle full width drawer! There i s a built-in felt lined silverware drawer in the right cabinet! Each set of cabinets are designed to lock! note- locks are in place- there are no keys) The Buffet Table is Approximately 6' 72" in length x 38" Tall(42.5" tall including back splashboard) x 23" Deep The cabinet height from the top of the legs is approximately 22" Over all. This buffet table is in very good condition for it's age, but it does need some minor repairs- please see below for details- The top of the table does show wear from use and age. Most of the wear is sur face wear and a lot of it could probably be buffed ... moreout if so desired. The photo was taken at an angle to capture the detail and over emphasi zes the appearance. Aesthetically. The biggest issue is the small piece of missing trim on the right side of the left half of the drawer. There are two spindles that are not in place across the bottom. Unfortunately. There is only one spindle available, the second spindle is missing and will need to be replaced. Functionally. The drawer is currently difficult to open and close, but I believe this is due to the bottom spindles not being in place and would be easily remedied. There is a small area(about quarter sized) on the left top of the table that was there at the time the table was made and is simply a characteristic fl aw in the wood that was used and simply adds to the unique antique characteristics of the entire piece. These are all relatively easy repairs. But they are repairs that are best left to those with experience in the area of antique repairs. Overall- a very beautiful piece of American history! Antique Art Deco Buffet This is a gorgeous. Antique piece of furniture. It could be called by many names and serve a variety of purposes: hutch, bar, sideboard, buffet, credenza, server or china cabinet. Whatever you call it, it is a lovely piece of furniture. The previous owner stated that she acquired this from Europe, specifically England. The only marking is"220" in chalk on the back. The buffet appears to be composed of tiger oak. With a medium-tone finish. The wood features carved ornamentation of fruit and foliage, a motif very popular during the Art Nouveau period from 1910-1930. The surface of the buffet has a marble top that is red in color with gray veining. There is a beveled mirror on the recessed portion of the top section of the buffet. The doors of the buffet have beautiful brass pulls and working locks. We have ... morethe original key, which operates all of the locks. The doors have a unique brass hinge design which allows them to be removed without the use of a tool. The top center door is glass. The final feature, which is also my favorite, are the curved feet that support the body of the buffet. Victorian. Tiger Oak Ornate Carved Lion Head& Paw Foot Buffet Sideboard. In very good condition this piece has paw feet with a cabinet above. One large and two smaller dovetailed drawers above the cabinet. There are two lion head carvings at each side of the larger drawer. There is a large beveled mirror in the top center that measures approx. 37" by 23" inches A column on each side of the mirror with carved lion design at bottom that curves into a candle shelf on each side. The cornice has a large carved center pediment. A great collectible piece of furniture. Size is: 50" wide 24" deep 82" high. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have on this buffet.
